I have a pigeon nesting just outside my sitting room window and she is so cute

We have watched her and her partner build their (rickety) nest and she has been sitting on it for about a week.

She looks into our sitting room like we are her television and entertainment (what else to do I guess).

Every now and then a magpie comes in and tries to threaten her and we bang on the window to ward the magpie off. She seems to know we are helping. (I like to think anyway).

She is currently having a nap. I got up this morning at 5.30 and she was absolutely fast asleep for a good while.

I said to DH; 'What are we going to do tomorrow when we are working and she needs help to scare the magpie?'. He said he will bring his laptop up to the sitting room (he WFH) so he can be on guard.

I really love her.

You might want to consider Weil's Disease, the link between that and rats has been proved.

No need, I haven’t caught that either.
I am not exactly happily cultivating a rat farm or anything but I don’t freak out at the odd glimpse of one. They dont come near the house and are no worse than the squirrels everyone seems to find so cute

I don't either, they're quite common in the back lane, as bins get turned over and there are some restaurants further down.

I remembered this thread yesterday. I’m in holiday and opposite my balcony is a tree with a couple of pigeons in it. It amused me no end watching them for a couple of hours. Boy pigeon flies off and returns with twig. He stands on the girl pigeons back and passes it to her. She then drop twig, it bounces off the branch and falls to the floor. He flies off to bring another twig back and to the process continues. This continued for TWO HOURS!
If this is their nest building strategy, it’s shit.

😂😂😂 You’d think that being birds, they’d have reasonable nest building skills, but no….
Maybe girl pigeon was just really pissed off with boy pigeon that day!
