Local election results

Is anyone following the local election results?

It's not looking good for the Tories is it?

I have a question if anyone can answer it for me - NW Leicestershire has been declared "hung" due to no majority. However, Labour have 18 seats and the Conservatives 12. How is that not considered a majority?

And the same stats now are what?

No idea - I don't think the stats are very good.
I didn't claim it was easy to find an NHS dentist locally - you did (under Labour).

A pp said that the Conservatives will drop all sorts of goodies now to win back voters before the next elections, but they also have plenty of time to keep making mistakes and dreadful decisions which will disenchant voters.

Today the* *government has allowed animal testing for makeup ingredients to resume despite a 25-year ban. (See BBC News but beware article contains picture of animal vivisection).

I'm 58. Clearly remember Labour's last spell in government. It was a time of great positivity and widespread improvements across a broad spectrum taking in the economy, the environment and the standard of living for all people is society not just the rich.

@Clavinova have you managed to find any cutnpastova links to show why losing a thousands seats is a triumph?

No - but I didn't hang around watching the news either. I went out to lunch and bought new clothes - and Coronation wine from M&S for a party tomorrow - so I'm feeling in a good mood tonight. If you wish hard enough, you might see Boris again on the front bench. Wink

If you wish hard enough

Click your heels three times, ehConfused

After Truss and Sunak you get Johnson back?

This is just getting silly @Clavinova

But you normally seem to be very well informed when it comes to news with the articles you link to, so it’s surprising to hear you don’t watch the news Smile

Ha, are they trying to lose another 1000 seats?

I didn't actually think anything could make me not vote the conservatives until I read this. I really abhor animal testing and cruelty. I really don't think I can vote for them now.

Please do and try harder.

I would dearly love to see Boris on a bench again. The bench of a court trying him for his crimes.

I will likely vote Tory next time I get the chance, because they know how to deal with sewage and enrich the water companies.

Beezknees · 06/05/2023 07:11

I'm a staunch Labour supporter. Pleased to see the results. My area is now a Labour majority after 20 years of Tory. Happy days.

British beaches aren't worth going to anyway. I prefer the ones in Spain or the Maldives.

How very unpatriotic on Coronation Day.

There are some spectacularly beautiful beaches in Britain, with excellent swimming. My favourites are in West Wales, but here’s a selection:

My area got one extra Con councillor and no Labour at this election. The mind truly boggles.

I’d love to visit the beaches of tiree. They look stunning

British beaches would be lovely if it weren't for your precious Tories dumping shit and sewage all over them. Cold water swimming is incredibly beneficial to many people.

IClaudine · 06/05/2023 10:11

When I were a young un, the beaches were full of sewage. Didn't stop us going in the sea. People are such snowflakes these days.
