What modifications would you like to make to the human body?

I don't mean bigger/smaller breats, liposuction or anything of that nature but helpful additions.

I wish that there was a reflex that'd stop you biting your tongue when eating or sneezing.

It'd be great if when you experience a pain or nausea, if your brain could tell you exactly what you need to do to fix it e.g drink more water, see a Dr, you need rest etc.

And teeth that replace themselves would be wonderful.

Oh and if you could get a period over with in an hour or at least one day, that'd be great.

What modifications would you make?

What would you add?

Spinal regeneration

LindorDoubleChoc · 28/04/2023 21:12

Vagina and anus further apart.

Less dramatic height differences. So all adults, male and female, could be between say 5'2" and 6'.

No dandruff, athletes foot, excema, psoriasis, mouth ulcers, thrush, rashes, acne, bad breath, tooth decay, hangnails, cold sores, veruccas - all those day to day things most of us have to deal with at some point.

And then of course the major illnesses!

I admire how some animals eat their mate after mating. I'd be up for that

Tough on midwives that one! A whole years work in a couple of weeks.

That's true, could we combine it with a redesign on the whole birthing process, so it takes maybe half an hour and doesn't require much midwife intervention.

I’d have loved the same reproductive system of a female dog. A period once every six months, then if they’re spayed they don’t go into menopause, even my vet agrees it’s pretty impressive. We have a period once a month for approximately 40 years, then menopause, oh what joy. I’m coming back as a man.

My first change would be teeth, self-cleaning or even better self-renewing, as many others have said. Such a bloody pain looking after teeth day in day out, and then your children's too.

I'd then like to do away with body hair. I quite like my head hair but I'm so tired of the constant faff of getting rid of body hair (very dark and thick and stubborn, in all manner of places and just looks and feels horrid. My daughter often complains that I am prickly like a hedgehog...)

Another one would be a much more efficient and more pleasant way of eliminating waste products. Tired of changing grim nappies, cleaning children's skid marks from toilet, smells emanating from bathroom, battling with bottom wiping post pregnancy with ongoing piles... the list goes on.

Yes well this is why I came up with the birthing zip (a few posts above yours), you can just do it yourself when fully cooked!

DelphiniumBlue · 28/04/2023 22:19

I'd redesign pregnant bellies, it feels such a poor design , I think the muscles/ ligaments holding it in place go the wrong way. Pregnancy should not be so uncomfortable let alone dangerous. And as for giving birth, that needs a total rethink, death of either mother or child should not be a possible outcome.
I think 9 months is also far too long. 3 would be plenty for most women's preparations.

Mangone · 28/04/2023 22:20

The ability to be able to eat what you like and as much as you like without putting weight on.
Plus bodies that stay north regardless of your age, rather than going south resulting in your arse trying to mate with the backs of your knee's.

3luckystars · 28/04/2023 22:21

Volume control!!!

also a sleep button.

ejbaxa · 28/04/2023 22:22

Wings.
To fly

I wonder what men would suggest if asked the same question?

DH's on the spot suggestions are retractable genitals for both; keeps their bits safe from stray footballs / knees and ours safe from rape. I can't argue with that.

Also (as above with urethra proximity to vagina) he'd like the peeing bit and the sex bit to be separated.

I'd like us to be able to regenerate limbs like lizards can grow a new tail.

anunlikelyseahorse · 28/04/2023 23:10

A way to stop the aging process.
Cells shouldn't mutate to cause tumours.
Menopause can do one, there should be a switch, that once last child's been born, that's it for ovulation and periods.

Satsumastocking · 28/04/2023 23:11

Bouncy legs to boing over buildings!

And better brains.

Bovrilla · 28/04/2023 23:13

The ability to outsource having a wee. It's such a faff. Especially when you have to go more after having kids.

An extra arm, which is hidden but can be utilised for those carrying items/door conundrums

Non-tiring feet.

Replaceable eyes. So I don't have to turn into my mother, squinting at the telly and searching for my glasses 🙈

Blossomandbee · 28/04/2023 23:19

I wish we could plug into a diagnostic machine like a car.
All illness and injury diagnosed instantly with a fault code Grin

LadyAstor · 28/04/2023 23:19

Teeth automatically replaced every twenty years.

Eyesight that self-corrects

Some kind of flap to stop your food going down your windpipe accidentally.

A baffle or silencer on the rectum 😁

Fewer ribs near your hips.

The addition of some kind of protruding weapon from the wrist or hand, like a pointed bone for self-defence.

CherrySocks · 28/04/2023 23:23

Not having breathing tube near food tube so you can swallow food without risk of choking.

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/04/2023 23:24

Stop perfectly straight teeth going wayward in late middle age.

notangelinajolie · 28/04/2023 23:29

Ever renewing teeth would be good.
No breasts would be even better.
Thick hair that doesn’t go grey.
And equal body metabolism for everyone.

notangelinajolie · 28/04/2023 23:30

And wings.
And an invisibility cloak.

UnsureSchool32 · 28/04/2023 23:34

Men and women have babies so women are not burdened with that.

tailinthejam · 29/04/2023 00:08

I'd love there to be a switch you could use to turn off your body's allergic reaction to pollen.
