Dorothy Perkins 🥲 the only shop that sold jeans that actually fit me.

Also I miss specialist art/craft/bead shops and independent haberdashery shops, only shopping and hobby craft isn’t the same.

What happened to Dotty P's? I know a few people who relied on them for jeans

C&A although they still exist abroad (and yes I always pop in holiday)

Woolworths

BHS - especially the Christmas giftware tat section which I loved.

Giggorata · 26/04/2023 07:24

I see someone has already mentioned Biba. Also Boodle-Ams in Leeds, the Pier, Crocks, Au Naturelle, Chelsea Girl and Past Times.

Needmorelego · 26/04/2023 07:24

As a former employee of Woolworths I can tell you all that Wilkos, Home Bargains, B+M, Poundstretchers, The Range, Poundland etc sell pretty much everything Woolies did.
Seriously...they do. Woolies doesn't need to come back. It's been replaced.
Not the Ladybird clothing - but that market has pretty much been taken over by supermarkets and Primark.
Another public service announcement....
Early Learning Centre STILL EXISTS.
It is part of The Entertainer toy shops. They sell the ELC branded toys there including Happyland.

Toomanybooks22 · 26/04/2023 07:28

Borders books - loved the massive one in Southampton

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 26/04/2023 07:32

Cromwell’s Madhouse for cheap Levi 501s, Athena for a poster or two, Our Price for this week’s chart busters, Past Times for a present for your granny, rounded off by a 1/4 lb of pick & mix from Woolies.

Classic 90’s shopping trip as an older teen.

Awear.... for all you fellow Irish women. Please tell me I'm not the only one that missses this shop? The sizing was accurate and the clothes were good quality and nice. Miss it so much 😭

I'm near Belfast and we used to have a branch of A Wear in our local shopping centre. It disappeared years ago and I was never sure if the whole chain had collapsed or if it just hadn't been performing well in this location.

I used to love shopping in A Wear when I was in Dublin and was stupidly excited when we got our own branch🤣 I bought some fabulous clothes there.

RoseandViolet · 26/04/2023 07:39

The Pier. I still often Google shops like The Pier….

happystory · 26/04/2023 07:45

Agree about the Pier. Their sales were great. Once got a fabulous wicker hamper that we used as a toy box for 50p! My bedroom furniture is all from Pier and it's lasted well.

Needmorelego · 26/04/2023 07:45

I seriously think some on this thread need to take a good walk around their local High Street/Shopping Centre and see what's there and what they sell.
Nostalgia is one thing - but you can buy pretty much everything these dead retailers sold in other shops. No wonder High Streets are "dying" - it sounds like no one actually goes there because people don't seem to know what current retailers exist and what they actually sell.
I see this on Facebook groups where people ask "where in town can I buy..." and people respond with a dozen different shops and you then get all the "Oh I didn't know so and so sold that" when it's something that retailer has always sold.
Anyway... I better get up and going. Need to pop to the shops myself today 🙂

Willmafrockfit · 26/04/2023 08:13
