I was at my daughters birthday party. It went over the entertainers blue tooth speakers as well as everyone's phone.

Having Sunday lunch in a pub. Nobody paid much attention to it and all of our party had it turned off.

loudbatperson · 23/04/2023 18:36

Writing up a uni assignment, mine was a minute early.

WheelsUpIn20 · 23/04/2023 18:37

Watching Spurs getting a spanking on the telly 😧😬

Kindledino · 23/04/2023 18:39

Making a cup of tea for DP. DS and his girlfriend got the alert a couple of minutes before 3, me and DP just after 3.

Jeftull · 23/04/2023 18:40

Browsing in a museum gift shop. I'd tried to stop it going off by changing settings last week, but the instructions wouldn't work so I thought my phone might be too old anyway. But no, it did go off.

ifonly4 · 23/04/2023 18:41

Working. Totally prepared for it as it'd just been mentioned on our headsets but in reality very distracting as I couldn't hear the customer in front of me. Totally understand it has to be done, even if I was one of the 25% that didn't get a notification.

Willmafrockfit · 23/04/2023 18:42

Tesco, very noisy it was too, but brief

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 23/04/2023 18:42

Nome of our phones 'went off'. Mind you, we are in the arse end of nowhere, so we probably don't need to know... 🤷🏻‍♀️

BishopRock · 23/04/2023 18:44

I didn't get an alarm as I'd turned off the alerts.

However next time I accessed my phone I had to do full password instead of just biometrics.

00100001 · 23/04/2023 18:44

Never got it

Changingmynameyetagain · 23/04/2023 18:44

I was working, it was really loud as about 300 phones went off at the same time.

alwaysstressed · 23/04/2023 18:44

Having a little Sunday nap and it woke me up

WarningToTheCurious · 23/04/2023 18:46

2.59 for me too - along with the message. I was baking too.

DH said he was glad he wasn’t driving as it was pretty loud (even with the volume set low).

slavetothekittens · 23/04/2023 18:46

Sat with a sleeping cat on my knee. He slept through it.

MrsRickAstley · 23/04/2023 18:46

Waiting for the alarm to go off

boilingstormyseas · 23/04/2023 18:47

My alarm didn't go off! Perhaps something to do with being on the Three network??? Come the apocalypse we won't know ...

TroysMammy · 23/04/2023 18:47

Sitting watching my phone and waiting for the alert. Mine was in English and Welsh.

Mightyouandiconfabulate · 23/04/2023 18:47

Just me asking the question then.

teenagetantrums · 23/04/2023 18:47

Waiting for the alarm to go off🤣. Mine went off at 2.59 then again 3 times no idea why. DP didn't get the alarm . Was a bit of a let down to be honest.

MissCalamity · 23/04/2023 18:47

Driving. I did turn my notifications off prior though.

Mightyouandiconfabulate · 23/04/2023 18:33

Driving.
I want to know what is the real reason for this alarm. I don’t accept that it’s for flood or wildfire, I don’t accept that.

Is there impending attacks that the government know about, and if we are attacked, what’s the fucking point in an alarm going off on a phone? What can we do? Where can we go? How the fuck do we protect ourselves?
It’s like the bomb warning in the war.

This is what I was asking. What is the real reason behind these alerts as I don’t believe it would be an earthquake or a flood.

teaandakitkat · 23/04/2023 18:53

I was cooking. I got an alert at 2.59, ds got his at 3.01, then I got another at 3.05 then one a couple of minutes after that!

So I was well and truly alerted. They must really want me to make it into the bunker.

I turned it off after the 3rd one, I have no idea what was going on there.

MargaretThursday · 23/04/2023 18:54

At work. It went off a 2:59 and I could hear several from other rooms too.

Persuaderama · 23/04/2023 18:57

Instead of spouting inane conspiracy theories just have a google and a read about the background.

  1. this has been in motion since 2014 and, as usually, has been ridiculously slow to implement
  2. when covid happened they discovered they couldn’t contact the public, apart from by messaging, which took over 2 days - hence they fast-tracked this
  3. almost every other country already has it
  4. wildfires/ floods? Perhaps. But also, terror attacks etc
