What does Sunday dinner look like for you?

We are in a different time zone, so ahead of the uk. Sunday dinner is an important ritual in our house, but takes lots of different forms as we live in a hot climate.
It's cooler today, so we have pork shoulder on the bbq, cabbage and bacon, stuffing (from home), baked apples, green beans, roast potatoes and gravy. Followed by cheese.
DH and I are sat outside with a drink and nibble, next to the BBQ, whilst I watch a BBC documentary on trading scams! DSS is sleeping after early morning football, but will be about soon in the hunt for snacks.
How is everyone else's Sunday lunch / dinner looking?

We're having chicken and leek pie, with roast potatoes, tenderstem broccoli and sugar snap peas.

There will be pudding of some sort later, but I'm not sure what yet. DD (9) wants to bake something so I'll get her to pick shortly.

We have roasts in the autumn/winter, but by this time of year we get a bit bored of them and branch out a bit. Next few Sunday dinners are filled yorkshire pudding wraps, lasagne, roast chicken & salad and steak & cheese sandwiches. I meal plan a month at a time as I hate doing it!

We are back on a late Sunday dinner for us,
music on in the kitchen. Brisket that's been on the bbq all day, Yorkies, carrots, roast potatoes, cabbage and bacon.
Favourite day.
DH and I have had too much kitchen wine 🤣
It's honestly my fave meal of the week.

I like how obviously happy you are.

We have roasted chicken tonight with roast potatoes, parsnips and onions. Broccoli, carrots, chad and peas. It's sort of easy roast.

We do roast maybe once a month and summer time less.

Dacadactyl · 30/04/2023 17:27

Depends. Sometimes i do a roast, but sometimes it's pasta or whatever.

Today we had a roast chicken, roast normal potatoes and roast sweet potatoes, roast parsnips and roast carrots, green beans and peas.

My DH cooks a roast every Sunday. Today its pork, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, veg, stuffing, Yorkshire puddings. Trifle afterwards.

My elderly parents come every Sunday, they're a hoot. We always play cards after dinner (eat about 5pm) then I make coffee with baileys and we watch antiques roadshow.

Love it.

We have a roast unless it’s nice weather - today is miserable and overcast, we are having roast chicken, roast potatoes, parmesan parsnips, Yorkshire puddings, asparagus, pigs in blankets and probably some sweet corn.
dh made the Yorkshire batter this morning and prepped the pigs, parsnips and potatoes. We went out for a walk and pub drink pit stop! Will eat around 7:30 like most nights.

WhoBird · 30/04/2023 17:45

I make a roast nearly every week. It’s a meal everyone likes, even the fussiest DCs and step DCs! Roast chicken for meat eaters, roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli, swede, cauliflower cheese, sweetcorn (for some of the children!) gravy, yorkshires!

Climbingthelaundrymountain · 30/04/2023 17:58

We've been out at a work thing all day so I've ordered pizza for dinner today.

But a normal Sunday dinner is nut roast or vegan sausages for me, some kind of meat for everyone else. Roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli cheese, peas, stuffing, Yorkshire puddings and gravy.

@PollyThePixie - thank you! I am, we love our sundays!
Love hearing what everyone is doing, so many good ideas for next weeks dinner.

We had beef stew for dinner. Apple pie was/is for dessert, nobody ate any dessert though.

Silkierabbit · 01/05/2023 03:20

We had lamb kebabs with onion and pepper on the bbq along with grilled large mushrooms, minted new potato salad and coleslaw with raisins. Ice cream for dessert.

Generally have a roast dinner on Sundays and love them but weather was good. Roast is meat so beef, pork, lamb, chicken with Yorkshire, roast potatoes, brocolli, carrots, gravy and sauces. With dessert generally like fruit crumble and custard.

Libmama · 01/05/2023 05:42

Yesterday we had
Roast pork
Roast potatoes
Carrots
Broccoli
Cauliflower
