Thread 7 - TalkLair: “In fact it’s an oblate spheroid”

Kucinghitam · 20/04/2023 20:05

Continuation of previous threads (thread 6).
The new lair of JTT escapees is all cosy and homey; we have truly settled here. Outside, the garden is blooming with spring flowers. Inside, the hearth is glowing, pictures are up on the walls, rugs are down on the floors (and assorted pets curled up on them).

We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

Wow - that's ... um ... yes.

Also, microwave on top of the hob.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 31/05/2023 21:02

Not grey. Great!

MouseMinge · 01/06/2023 00:02

That place is an invitation to a big ole migraine!

Bumped into my downstairs neighbour today. Both the cats - male and female - who visit me on the regular are his. Boy cat is girl cat's son. He told me their names and I've forgotten already. I'm a bad cat person. Anyway! I told him about the visits and surprise, surprise he's being visited too, especially by Django. Cats have precisely zero fucks to give.

MouseMinge · 01/06/2023 00:24

@MavisMcMinty I just went to look at apple pressers and I'm gutted that they're so expensive. I stupidly thought that they might be roughly the same sort of price as a really good citrus juicer. Bum!

Well gosh. Nothing bland about that place! I wonder how many coats of Trade White it would take to cover up the disturbing naked people?

Also, I don't understand why the cooker is under the microwave shelf. Surely it could just swap places with the fridge right next to it?

That’s quite some interior! Baffled as to why whoever’s selling it didn’t invest in some white paint to neutralise it, assuming it’s just paint. I know from years of painful experience preparing the studios at work for the end of year exhibition how hard it is to cover wall drawings.

SinnerBoy · 01/06/2023 13:56

That looks like an acid come down 40 years ago!

Britinme · 01/06/2023 15:00

Phew! Just finished the third volume of the Passage trilogy. What a ride!

Kucinghitam · 01/06/2023 16:47

I've just booked Phoebe in for an emergency vet appointment tomorrow morning.

She had a little wound on her face earlier this week. Yesterday it suddenly swelled up and then burst a load of bleeding pus, which I cleaned up with sterile saline. Looked like it was healing OK until a few hours ago. The wound has grown and spread, all I can do is keep flushing with saline. I think her immune system isn't up to fighting this. She seems quite relaxed and content despite it, still eating (in tiny bits), grooming, snuggling on my lap right now.

But I think it's time.

I'm feeling... just utterly heartbroken.

Oh Kuc how heartbreaking. I know you've seen this moment coming but that doesn't make it easier. Hugs and sympathies.

Ginmonkeyagain · 01/06/2023 17:02

Oh poor wee cat. The right thing to do it sounds, but no less upsetting.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 01/06/2023 17:03

(((@Kucinghitam and Phoebe)))

Tricyrtis2022 · 01/06/2023 17:08

Oh Kuc, I'm so sorry, it's an awful time. Hugs to you all.

artant · 01/06/2023 17:29

Oh, poor Phoebe. Sending you lots of hugs, Kuc.

SinnerBoy · 01/06/2023 17:44

Oh dear, I hope she gets fixed ASAP with antibiotics. Is it from a fight?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/06/2023 17:50

Kucinghitam Flowers hope she pulls through.

CyanCrystalViolet · 01/06/2023 18:15

Oh (((kuc))) and (((Phoebe))). I really hope it’s something treatable ❤️ lots of love x

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 01/06/2023 18:52

Sorry Kuc. Dear Phoebe.

MavisMcMinty · 01/06/2023 20:43

Awww, sorry Kuc and Phoebe. xxxx

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 01/06/2023 20:43

Oh dear God I started reading the Boots wouldn't sell a man Canesten thread, which started out ordinary and rational and then got a little unexpected and then had a picture of where the Canesten was going to be used . . .

There are some things I don't need to know about.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 01/06/2023 20:52

Maybe I'm a bigot, but things with that many legs shouldn't be that big.

MavisMcMinty · 01/06/2023 20:55

I was doing the washing up yesterday and looking with satisfaction at all my excellent knives, lined up on the magnetic knife rack, and was reminded me of my still-raw grief for the long, tapering, serrated Kitchen Devil that a friend openly admired 20 years ago and was never seen again - her or the knife. KD had to stop selling such knives when they became the most efficient/effective stabbing weapons; they were banned in the UK. That this is not the first time I’ve written about the knife theft shows just how bothered I was and still am by it. Who’d steal a friend’s knife FFS?

Anyway, who should drop in “as she was in the area” today but the knife thief! So strange I was only thinking about her (and my knife) yesterday. It was so lovely to see her, it’s been 20 years.

She said thought we’d fallen out during a music festival in Totnes, but I’ve never been to a musical festival in Totnes.

I didn’t mention my knife. It might not have been her who nicked it. And my Dad has an identical one which I’ve already baggsied when he carks it.

weaseleyes · 01/06/2023 21:30

So sorry to hear about Phoebe @Kucinghitam xx

Heh, they are so like big cats, I was thinking that earlier on our walk, where the cats take every opportunity to loll about on tree branches or stop for a lie down in the sun.

Sometimes think I can see a black panther lying across a massive oak branch opposite the kitchen but it’s just light and shade.
