Thread 7 - TalkLair: “In fact it’s an oblate spheroid”

Kucinghitam · 20/04/2023 20:05

Continuation of previous threads (thread 6).
The new lair of JTT escapees is all cosy and homey; we have truly settled here. Outside, the garden is blooming with spring flowers. Inside, the hearth is glowing, pictures are up on the walls, rugs are down on the floors (and assorted pets curled up on them).

We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

Oh, thank you @CyanCrystalViolet - what madness! My ghastly mother was entirely self-obsessed and couldn't have been less concerned about her daughters' lives. After reading that thread I think that was preferable.

bignosebignose · 30/05/2023 13:08

Ah yes, we did - very good.

Britinme · 30/05/2023 14:14

I am halfway through the third volume of the Passage trilogy and I can hardly bear to put the book down and do other essential stuff. I have a class to teach on Zoom this afternoon and I have some other stuff to do this morning to prep for guests coming next Tuesday. I got about four hours sleep last night because I was glued to it until 2am and then woke up at 6am and have read a bit more before getting up. It's gripping.

Ginmonkeyagain · 30/05/2023 17:48

EXTENSIVE IMPROVEMENTS!

No way has that shit tip had £30k of improvements.

Also you do not get to add £30k to the asking price because you replaced the boiler and consumer unit!

MavisMcMinty · 30/05/2023 17:58

Wow! So how does that work? Do you get to move into Hippy Heaven with all those greyhounds/whippets and pot plants?

duc748 · 30/05/2023 17:59

I can smell the weed from here! 😀

Ginmonkeyagain · 30/05/2023 17:59

Seeing as it appears to be a freehold house I want to know what the £11 a month service charge is going on.

Ginmonkeyagain · 30/05/2023 18:00

@duc748 Naah it will be overpowered by the doggy smell. I counted at least four different dogs.

MavisMcMinty · 30/05/2023 18:02

…I have just finished the last of The Passage trilogy, but am going to have to go back and read them all again, kept thinking stuff like “who’s that?” and “how did Alicia/Amy/whoever get infected?” and “is Caleb really Peter’s son?”, y’know.

MavisMcMinty · 30/05/2023 18:03

And that’s after reading the whole thing over one week, dunno how people coped while waiting for the next part to be published!

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 30/05/2023 18:12

What's going on in pic 16? It appears to be a semi-underground shed full of steam.

Gonners · 30/05/2023 18:18

Does it also come with the bloke in shorts wandering around the garden?

£122,500 · Shared Ownership Resale
Share percentage 50%, full price £245,000, £6,125 Min Deposit.

And then further down ...

The Full Market Value of £245,000.00 does not consider the extensive improvements that have been undertaken in this property.

But ...

Therefore, the 50% share of £152,500.00 has an additional £30,000.00 to be added to cover the improvement value bringing the total payment required to £182,500.00.

Okay, either I am missing something here or they have added the £30k twice. Nice try.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 30/05/2023 18:26

I agree with your maths.

Ginmonkeyagain · 30/05/2023 18:33

Ha! Cheeky bastards. I presume the owner is trying to increase what they will get for their share to try and get back the money they put in for "improvements". But the stuff decribes is mainly normal house maintenance - it is not like it has been exended or anything.

angelico53 · 30/05/2023 18:34

I liked it. Especially the pigeon visiting. Plus, I like greyhounds.

So have a seat and wrap one up, the lot of you. No, not there, Gin, if you don't ... oh, too late. I'm sure it will come out. Oh, Chanel? But they're marvellous these days, at the cleaners, I mean.

Be sure to send me the bill (muttered inaudibly).

Ginmonkeyagain · 30/05/2023 18:36

TBF it doesn't look THAT dirty - just more stuff than house.

Gonners · 30/05/2023 18:49

Plus there's the £366 per month rent + £11 "service charge" - presumably for the half of the house you won't own. And is that the new boiler in picture #24, sitting at floor level at the end of the hallway?

If I were anywhere near Hailsham, I'd take one for the team and go and view that.

MavisMcMinty · 30/05/2023 18:51

That garden is probably full of dogshit when the artful photographer (I’m guessing the owner took all the photos) isn’t around.

angelico53 · 30/05/2023 19:19

I was musing about that issue in the sunny garden yesterday. First estimate of how much shite I would pick up from my tiny dog was 1.6m g over a decade, and she will have more than that, please the lord. Can multiply by 4 for both pesky creatures.

angelico53 · 30/05/2023 19:21

Anyway, it didn't take much juggling and estimation to come up with the shocking figure of a metric ton of dogshite. If only I knew a tannery to sell it to.

I thought the boiler was above the stairs in one of the most awkward places to reach possible.

CyanCrystalViolet · 30/05/2023 19:33

I can’t work out if that’s a can of beer sitting in the fireplace or some sort of candle with a print on it.

I think the whole house could be summed up in a simple flowchart:

Is there a space?

yes - shove some shit in it

no - shove some shit in it

duc748 · 30/05/2023 19:52

I'm watching this pool match on YouTube. It's a channel I've watched before, from a sports bar in Yorkshire. The standard is pretty good, not quite pro level, but a cut above local league level I think. Well when this big hairy tattooed guy missed, and his opponent came to the table, I thought, Jeez, he doesn't look any older than 8. Googling, he is indeed 8. It's really quite remarkable. Apparently his big brother is the U-15 world champion.
