If the coronation was being funded by voluntary contributions would you pay towards it?

I wouldn't, I think charlie should pay for it out of his personal billions. If you would, why?

@SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun

I'd rather sell the bling and give the money to the state

ChaToilLeam · 10/04/2023 11:32

Not a penny!

TheChosenTwo · 10/04/2023 11:34

Absolutely not a fucking chance in hell I’d voluntarily pay a penny towards it. I’d also like it to be pay per view and those who are interested CAN pay for it and those who don’t give a crap can merrily ignore it. I loathe the royal family and WOULD pay to abolish them all 😂
@SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun i want my £1.45 back 🤣

Ineedwinenow · 10/04/2023 11:34

Yes I would voluntarily contribute if I had to.

I’m proud of our history and heritage and the royal family one way or another has always been there part of that.

Many other countries also have a royal family and I’m proud that we one of them! Yes they made some huge mistakes in the past and certain members currently . ( Andrew ..I’m looking at you) but I hope they may continue for many generations to come!

I’m not wealthy but I’d rather my taxes pay for the coronation that the MPs expenses

GoatHeartedPieFacedOwl · 10/04/2023 11:35

No.
I thought our great leader was all in favour of protecting the environment. I can't think of anything worse than an event that causes hundreds of people to use private transport (including planes) to get to an unnecessary destination, cause MOPs to leave hundreds of tonnes of rubbish, create a security nightmare, and think of all the plastic tat sold as souvenirs that will be chucked away before the end of the day.

Surely KC should be setting an environmental example and doing it all via Zoom (other online meeting platforms are avilable). But I don't see why we should pay for any of it. Organise a street party if you like, enjoy the day how you want.

Botw1 · 10/04/2023 11:36

Plus there aren't 66 million adults in the UK.

If you take off kids it will be more per adult

rattymol · 10/04/2023 11:37

No.
But I would have liked it to be financed through donations.

Amyc24 · 10/04/2023 11:38

NO NO NO NEVER

GooseberryCinnamonYogurt · 10/04/2023 11:39

Who do your think is paying?

bellac11 · 10/04/2023 11:39

Kanaloa · 10/04/2023 11:23

Gosh, you’re right! Since I don’t want to pay for a party for an incredibly wealthy man who puts himself above the rest of us people, that must mean I don’t agree with contributing towards services like police and social care that benefit the people!

Why be so rude and sarcastic, you must be aware that during each discussion on various forums of those publicly funded things, some people dont want to pay for them. Its not personal to you for gods sake

And that is a minor list, there are tons of things tax payers pay for that are not so obviously helpful or necessary and which cause a lot of controversy.

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 10/04/2023 11:40

No. Absolutely not.

The Windsors should be self funding, like any other decent family. If they want a big day out they need to pay for it.

The environmental toll this nonsense will have wipes out all the false concern Charles goes on about.

SighsTheNewWord · 10/04/2023 11:41

No, I'd rather give the money to those who're struggling to heat or eat. It's a terrible world we live in where many people are struggling yet this unnecessary (but "traditional") pomp and pageantry is going on alongside it. Shameful!

Sorryyoufeelthatway · 10/04/2023 11:43

No way!

RedVanYellowVan · 10/04/2023 11:43

No way.
The only money I'm prepared to pay toward this is the cost of my Abolish The Monarchy t-shirt which I shall wear out and about on the day.

tillytoodles1 · 10/04/2023 11:44

No.

MintJulia · 10/04/2023 11:45

If it's a public event generating £££ millions for the UK, then yes. It's a couple of quid each.

Hotel prices for that weekend have already doubled in the south, and are heavily booked. Booking catering is already difficult (I know, I've tried). The event will be a huge shot in the arm for the hospitality industry who need all the help they can get. The broadcast rights will generate millions for the BBC and keep the licence fee down. Airports, train companies, breweries, food companies all benefit. This is a UK plc event.

Do you imagine KCIII will benefit from the cost of road closures or hundreds of police on security detail? The cost of signage or street cleaning? Of course not. They aren't for him, they are to keep people safe while the come to London to watch.

GOW56 · 10/04/2023 11:45

No, there is much more important and useful things to spend money on

NeedToKnow101 · 10/04/2023 11:45

Of course not!

PearlsaSwinger · 10/04/2023 11:45

No.

applecharlotte12 · 10/04/2023 11:46

No

TeeBee · 10/04/2023 11:47

Yep

Avarua2 · 10/04/2023 11:47

Yes. I view it as a cultural event. Highlighting unique and rare British culture.

sugarspices · 10/04/2023 11:47

If it was a choice between make the donation or it doesn't go ahead, I'd make the donation. I like the day off work, sense of community in my area on occasions like this, and generally respect the monarchy's part in our history/how it influences tourism in our country.

If it was paid for by donations though I'm not sure I'd be happy about those not donating benefiting from the bank holiday! So I think it would have to be a kind of pay-to-participate deal

bozzabollix · 10/04/2023 11:47

Hell no, far better things to spend cash on, practically anything really.

WrenNatsworthy · 10/04/2023 11:49

I'd pop a quid in.
