If the coronation was being funded by voluntary contributions would you pay towards it?

I wouldn't, I think charlie should pay for it out of his personal billions. If you would, why?

Nope! The whole thing makes us look backwards on the world stage.

20% of people in this country live in poverty - 40% increase in food bank users. Fucking shameful.

Rockingcloggs · 10/04/2023 10:58

Absolutely yes.

I love state occasions and the continuation of centuries of tradition. I value the British Monarchy and I like the King and his Queen!

Tomkirkman · 10/04/2023 10:59

Yes, but then I would donate to anything if it gave me an extra day off. Within reason. Depends on how much it was.

I am, now, lucky enough to have a job where we get paid bank holidays off.

Also asked 18 year old dd and she said she would. She is looking forward to seeing the pageantry of it.

Yesthatismychildsigh · 10/04/2023 11:00

Of course not.

Slothmomma · 10/04/2023 11:02

No, and have no interest in watching any of it - though will enjoy the bonus day off work 😄

lovemycottage · 10/04/2023 11:09

Ha, ha!
Never ever.;)

Samcro · 10/04/2023 11:10

no. I like KC and will watch it,

WeHaveJoy · 10/04/2023 11:11

No. And it should be televised on pay to view, let's see who actually wants to watch it. Certainly no one I know.

Okunevo · 10/04/2023 11:12

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 10/04/2023 10:38

A lot of the cost is for security and that is to protect the people who turn up to watch. Shouldn’t the tax payer protect the public?

Let the man whose event is causing the unsafe situation pay

PopethYnIawn · 10/04/2023 11:13

No

RoseBucket · 10/04/2023 10:42

I’m already losing money due to two bank holidays so definitely not!

Same here. It's costing me money and I have no intention of even watching the fucking charade.

Kanaloa · 10/04/2023 11:18

Of course not! I wouldn’t donate to Kylie Kardashian having a big luxurious special party either. Why should I? Why would I?

Mangogirl12 · 10/04/2023 11:20

Nope, the RF should be disbanded in my opinion, especially after what happened with Meghan and Harry. And we were lied to about Camilla being Queen Consort as opposed to Queen. Charles only said that to appease people. There is no way I'm calling her Queen. Ever. Charles, Camilla and the RF can go to buggery.

MuseumGardens · 10/04/2023 11:21

No

Plus charge those who turn up

bellac11 · 10/04/2023 11:21

I wonder how the answers would be if you were asking about other tax payer funded events/services

Public transport?
Roads?
Schools?
Prisons?
Rehab schemes?
Sports funding?
Police?
Social care?
Public events?
cycle paths?
Parks?
Nature reserves?
council housing?
Benefits?

Botw1 · 10/04/2023 11:22

@Mangogirl12

Do you bump into them often?

123rd · 10/04/2023 11:22

No, I wouldn't.
I have no interest in any of it. I won't be watching any of it. I didn't watch any of the jubilee celebrations or in fact the funeral of the queen.
I'd be happy if there was no royal family

Botw1 · 10/04/2023 11:22

@bellac11

Yes to all.

No to mps expenses

Most of those are necessary.

Gosh, you’re right! Since I don’t want to pay for a party for an incredibly wealthy man who puts himself above the rest of us people, that must mean I don’t agree with contributing towards services like police and social care that benefit the people!

Twillow · 10/04/2023 11:23

Hell no. I'm not entertaining any aspect of it in my life tbh

Violetcrush · 10/04/2023 11:24

How much is it costing per person?

CurlewKate · 10/04/2023 11:25

No. Apart from anything else, I've already paid for it.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 10/04/2023 11:30

Based on it costing 100 million pounds and the UK population bring 68.8 million people it is costing us £1.45 each. But I have seen some mention of world wide tv rights paying for some of it. Also it would be a shame not to get out all the bling that we have for these things sometimes (in my opinion).
