Uncomplainingly takes the kids to see the Super Mario Bros film so you can have an afternoon snooze 😍

Your turn!

… prioritises you and the children

Drives to your parents home every night to carry your dying father up the stairs so that he can sleep in the same bed as his wife rather than the palliative care bed set up in the dining room, without being asked.

This makes me want to cry.

What a guy

washinwashoutrepeat · 08/04/2023 17:27

I love this thread!

The one who still holds your hand lovingly while you are having a disagreement.

HappyMe6 · 08/04/2023 17:34

Treats you like the queen that you are! Seriously marry a man that puts you and the children before himself! One that has respect for you and himself, and will have your back regardless

PussBilledDuckyPlait · 08/04/2023 17:36

Goes out to the supermarket at 8pm on a rainy night to get me wine when I've had a bad day at work.

Timeforachangeisitnot · 08/04/2023 17:41

Drives around a strange US city at 3am to find a drugstore, to get something to stop you throwing up ( migraine)

Notwavingbutsignalling · 08/04/2023 17:46

Where, I wonder, does one find such men?🧐

Or do you think your love turns them into these princes?🤔

fluffysocks3 · 08/04/2023 17:48

Gets up early to make you a coffee and bring it to you in bed every morning!

StreetSpirit3 · 08/04/2023 17:49

Did he want to see it himself? 😂 DH is dying to see it lol

fluffysocks3 · 08/04/2023 17:49

Notwavingbutsignalling · 08/04/2023 17:51

  • Gets up in the night with the youngest, ever since she stopped breastfeeding.
  • Treats stepchildren like his own (but still gets along with their dad)
  • massages
  • Takes over completely if I’m ever ill or just really tired

That's brought a tear to my eye, what a lovely man

Bbq1 · 08/04/2023 17:55

Takes unpaid leave for a year to look after you, your 5 year old and the home while you recover from cancer. Accompanies you to every appointment and every chemo along the way and much more besides. My husband is my absolute rock.

SpiritRanger · 08/04/2023 17:56

What lovely comments from many people. I have made a thread last night about how I always end up with shit men. It's nice to know there are some fabulous ones out there and would be happy to learn where to find one... 😀

PauliesWalnuts · 08/04/2023 17:59

Stands outside a crematorium in the rain waiting for you to make sure you’re ok whilst you’re at your little brother’s socially distant funeral in the middle of a pandemic when you’ve only been going out six months and they never even met.

My advice is to prioritise personality, not looks or financial status.

Notwavingbutsignalling · 08/04/2023 18:03

@PussBilledDuckyPlait

I try to!

ProvenceBrand · 08/04/2023 18:08

You hear him getting up and getting dressed at 2am although he hadn’t woken you, as your 22 yr old DD’s car won’t start when she left a nightclub in a city 40 minutes away and had called her dad. Gets her car started and then follows her home to make sure she gets in safely.

Always behaving like this without question, never complaining.

This made me well up. So lovely of him.

MugOfSoup · 08/04/2023 18:09

Never makes you feel like you are a burden despite you having to give up work due to ill health, never complains, just tucks a blanket round you when you are a coach potato attached to a TENs machine every month. Brings you chocolate from a secret stash which is secret as he knows you will choff it and then want some when you most need it. Tells your two children (now teens) where the secret stash is so that they can access it for you if needed whilst he is in work.

@BessieSurtees that is the most beautiful thing ever. What a lovely man.

imnotthatkindofmum · 08/04/2023 18:10

Still Sympathises with your PMDD and then early menopause even though it's turned you into a total bitch for the last 5 years!

absolutely has your back as a teacher against the naysayers who listen to the media crap and is very vocal about it (the rejected pay offer was unfunded people!!) and always has been.

Cries when your daughter struggles with her ASD because he can see all of her potential and really wants to help her.

Bites his tongue when your mum expresses her daily Mail views which are completely out of line with his ethics (as they fucking should be!)

Is happy to do anything that helps your parents and his parents and our children.

Is proactive in booking fun things occasionally otherwise you'd never get your act together to go anywhere!

Still makes your toes curl in pleasure the same as when you first kissed at 14 😍

He also has his faults but it's nice to list the good points sometimes and remember that I am also far from perfect!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 08/04/2023 18:12

Cleans up all the sick when you and the two kids come down with the stomach flu over Easter - oh it’s been a fun week
