Just that really......

Mine was a few years ago and I'm still Confused whenever I think about it.

My youngest had started primary school a few months prior to the event and she had got a bit friendly with one of the other children in the class and as a result I had got to know their mum quite well, in terms of chatting in the playground anyway.

We had storm one morning on the school run and as it was much closer to my house than hers I invited her back for a cuppa till the storm passed. I put the kettle on to boil and then went to the loo, then had to take an "urgent" phone call from my eldest school for some reason or other, can't remember what exactly and it certainly wasn't an emergency.

When I was upstairs I heard some clattering around in the kitchen and then heard a sizzling noise.

When I went back downstairs she was frying bacon. She hadn't asked, I hadn't offered and it meant she had gone through my fridge and cupboards the first time she had been to my house. When I asked what she was doing she said she was hungry and hadn't eaten that day Confused

Safe to say I didn't ask her to come back after that!!

Nothing in my home but a friend and I were invited to lunch with someone we both knew. She took off her sandals and asked for newspaper so she could cut and paint her toenails. Gross.

She had already started to cook it so I just buttered some bread and made sandwiches rather than wasting it.

She probably wouldn't have wanted to come back after you gave her a buttered bacon sandwich. That's a sure fire way to end a blossoming friendship Grin

Am I missing something here? It's better with margarine on

Just remembered another one couldn't resist telling that happened at my friend's house. We went for curry at a friend's house, a group of us had been invited over. She cooked a few main dishes and asked if people could bring sides dishes to contribute if they felt like it. We all brought various things. One particular friend who is known for being tigg made a couple of curries, then after dinner he proceeded to charge everyone for the amount he spent even though we'd all contributed and it wasn't even his house. The leftovers then got packed away and the host was looking forward to have it for her dinner the next day. She as left with all the mess etc as she'd hosted. Anyway whilst he was at work he came over (flatmate let him in) and took the leftovers home for himself ! Couldn't believe it when she told me

But why did you all pay him? Surely you didn't

IrisAtwood · 07/04/2023 21:56

@CriticalAlert I am so sorry that happened to you. Have you thought about reporting your assault or getting some support from one of the rape crisis services? Particularly as you were underage.

At my child's 6th party I catered for 30 kids. Inc with food I had a massive cake and only 30 small choc, muffin ones.
All the children came and I said they could only take one muffin as there was only enough for one each, until I cut the cake.
One boy tool 5! And then I had kids left at the end who didn't get any.
Just greediness...

If you were close enough to count how many he took, you were close enough to say "one each".

I was right next to him but got distracted for a second. I saw him carrying them away. Tbh I wouldn't have said anything as it would have made me look like a stingy mam

When I lived with my boyfriend (who sometimes smoked dope), he brought a friend home. I offered her tea or coffee and she declined but said, "Have you got a spoon?" I handed her one and she put some white powder in it and struck a match... it was heroin! As she was our guest, I was too polite to make any protest, but I was livid. Once she'd gone, I practically flayed my boyfriend alive.

we threw politeness to the wind and simply said ‘no’
Which you should have done the first time. Who lets a former boss's partner bulldoze into their home like that? It's not polite, it's being a pushover.

You’re right. The key word here is ‘bulldoze”. We never knew what hit us and yes, we did say ‘no’ the first time around 😂. But bulldozers are not known for their ability to listen.

We are a group of friends, Abby, Belinda, Charlotte and me. Abby, Belinda and I grew up together and have spare keys for each houses. Belinda and her family went away on holiday and I was feeding her cat. Charlotte came with me one day and we sorted the cat, fed, cleaned and fussed, and left. About a week later, Belinda and family return to find Charlotte living in their house. Charlotte had taken Belinda's DH key from the hook and, as her family were staying, she thought Belinda wouldn't mind. She had meant to leave before they got home!!

Bloody hell.
Did she hide every day when you went in to feed the cat?

Glad you were entertain by this. Millions wouldn't be 🤷🏻‍♀️

I know! Honestly it was more of wtf just happened kind of thing. It's something we still laugh about. She even had the cheek to then tell us she didn't like the champagne 🤷‍♀️

I had an elderly neighbour who occasionally would help me with the odd DIY job - the sort I struggled to do myself but a tradesman wouldn't even get out of bed to do. The neighbour enjoyed DIY and it gave him something to do. In return, I would make a meal for him. He particularly liked a roast gammon joint I did. His two daughters were lazy and good for nothing benefit scroungers. I often wondered how one of them could afford to eat only organic food when she relied on benefits. After one DIY task he'd completed for me, I did him a whole gammon joint which he could share with his dreadful daughters and partners as they were coming for their tea. The "organic food" daughter apparently sniffed and said she hoped the gammon was organic as she wouldn't eat it otherwise. I never did anythng like that for him again.

Why punish the old man for it?

Omg, the smell of that stuff is something you’d never forget. Vile.

At uni, I was put in a placement about 20 miles away (each way) once a week for a few weeks. A woman in the same course who was about 15 years older than me and married but didn’t drive was on the same placement and the uni asked if I would also drive her. She would turn my music off and didn’t contribute towards petrol or parking, except on one day: I was 20p short for the parking and she gave me the 20p. She went out of her way to ask for it back the next day in class.

I've written about this before but it fits perfectly in here! When I was quite young I was asked to give a lift to another teacher who proceeded to rant at great length about the iniquities of private vehicles and how we should all be using public transport. After a couple of days I suggested that he put his ideals into practise and catch a few buses. He slagged me off to the entire Staffroom saying how I was a fascist, sadly for him there were some real fascists in the Staffroom who put him right.
In another school someone was offered a TA job and told that JudgeJ will be able to give you a lift every day. When I found out and said I wouldn't a lot of people thought I was being mean but that journey to and forth was my 'me' time, I even relished the occasional traffic jam!

What sort of car did you drive, that you were volunteered as everyone's taxi?! 😂

Sorry, but if YOU are eating ILLEGAL naked, dry nasty bacon sandwiches without Lurpak then you're in the wrong.

Lurpak?! We don't all have £1000 a week shopping budgets Wink

It's my essential luxury, I buy a few tubs when it's on offer.

Only in the first one was I a volunteer, he was a colleague who seemed quite normal and I was glad to help out, only for 2 days in the end! The car was what we used to call a banger, pre MOTs, OH called it a rolls-canardly, it rolls down hills but can hardly get up them!

HowdidImanagetohavetwoaccountaandthenloseboth · 07/04/2023 22:44

I am wondering why colmans English mustard and lurpak have not been mentioned? An obvious omission, I would suggest as the three must go together. Fried cherry tomatoes optional.

MIL moving furniture around my home because she thought it looked better where she had put it.

In a previous house, a standard 30s semi, there was a big square bay window and instead of having one pair of very wide curtains we had two pairs that we pulled all the way to the end in the day. When MIL was staying she would 'adjust' them so that one pair hung in the bay and one at the the end. I always pulled them all the way back and also trained the children to do it, she seemed very puzzled that the curtains she's adjusted were back to the end.

😂You would think that she would learn. It is really cheeky thought isnt it.

Not technically within the thread rules as such, I know, but a few years ago DH and I were at a restaurant having dinner, and a man on the table next to us leant over and took a few of my chips to eat! We were so flabbergasted, genuinely frozen in shock we couldn't react. We've probably had a fair amount of much milder CFery at home over the years but that is the pinnacle for me!
