what are you doing that no one knows about

(light hearted thread ) As the title says what are you doing or up to that no one knows about .
I got my passport i told no one i was getting one as im planing a nice holiday by my self but will say im working away when the time comes .😁

I’m visiting my in-laws and am catching up with a friend. I’ve left 2 hours earlier than I need to, and am happily playing on my iPad a street away from friend’s house until it is our offical meeting time.

I am planning all the things that my parents, children and practically everyone thinks is unseemly for a (very nearly) 50 year old to do. The only person who knows even a little bit about it are my partner and my sister. They are the two people who know and love me best and support me. Its my birthday in a couple of months and that is when I am doing these things.

These things include, but are not limited to.....

Download for the first time in my life
Bar piercing
Another tattoo (probably taken 32 years for my mother to get over the first two I had at 18!)
Further madness with hairstyle and colour
Wearing an outfit for my 50th that is "too short for a woman of your age" according to ma
Finally starting my degree

I realise that this all sounds somewhat tame but you can take from that that my life has, thus far, been a woman looking at the horizon but never having access to a boat to reach it.

Hiding my autism from professionals

On more than one occasion my parenting has been severely criticised and so I have kept my private diagnosis a secret from all involved in my care or do care including social workers.

I also lie when asked at appts if we’ve ever had a sw as their involvement was after a malicious referral so I decided to never mention it and we are treated normally then

That’s really useful to know. I’m deliberating over whether to do just English Literature or English Lit & creative writing and the choice of modules is a bit mind-boggling.

Sounds like I definitely need to get better at planning ahead and making time to read (and not procrastinating which I am terrible for as well...)

@lovemedough. Can I ask where you get it from? I have little over a stone to lose but I am only 5" so it really shoes and I am so miserable. I am also menopausal so very difficult to shift.

I’m doing French on Duolingo. I haven’t done French since school but it came back to me quite quickly and I feel like I’m really achieving something and enjoying it.

I'm doing that. I started doing 15 minutes a day but enjoy it so much I'm now doing a couple of hours a day. I now have a 90 day streak. I was useless at languages at school, but this way seems so much easier.

Congratulations to the baby growers especially!

Mine isn't nearly as exciting but I am booked in for an abdominal hysterectomy next month and only DH Dsis and DM know - people keep asking about work or whitsun half term plans and I just can't bring myself to tell people ! I think I am just in denial about all the upheaval.
Really should tell work tomorrow.

Yep it's a terrible task, i don't have to as our HR team will be there however I want to be there. I am one of the company owners so I want to take responsibility for it and face people.

It's terribly sad to let go people who I can find good in all of them. Just can't afford to keep them in the short term until more work comes in.

Have severe endometrioses, 10 laparoscopy's and just had another op that burns the actual womb. Have had severe pain for over 20 years now, husband knows and one best friend. Has affected my life and what i can and can not do. Mother and Sisters have no clue, never told when i am in hospital or at home recovering. All had no sympathy growing up, especially mother- she told my bad days ruined everything for them nor couldn't understand why was so unwell. Lucky enough husband completely understands and is so supportive.

Dealing with my adhd traits - don't need a diagnosis- I might get it, I might not. Dealing with it is far more liberating than looking for an explanations and rl support in my case.

I'm learning to code! One friend knows but he's at the other end of the country. A few people know I'm 'doing a computer course' but don't know the details.

I'm the least techy person in existence. Come from a shit background and still live in relative poverty with dc. I hope it will eventually lead to a decent job and better lives for me and the dc.

Good luck! My partner taught himself to code and then had a complete change of career at 40, and is doing really well. Took a pay hit for the first couple of years, but is now where he was before and should be on more again in the next year or so.

I'm going on a secret trip to a big shopping centre next week. Not telling my daughter because she'll want to come! Just want to mooch around myself and look around BTs, M and S and all the shops I like. In the 3rd trimester, so it's a little outing to lighten the boredom.

our mattress went mouldy soon after we bought it as our flat is damp and DP keeps saying we can’t afford to replace it. 4 years later he’s on holiday and I’ve replaced it. Will see if he notices a difference.

You’ve had to sleep on a mouldy bed for four years??
