Considering it's a few weeks away I've not heard any sort of excitement, any enthusiasm or much at all about it really!
Are the public totally over the royal family now, is it because it's Charles or is it because people are struggling to stay afloat financially?

I disagree. An awful lot of people, including me, had some respect for the Queen even though I despise the Monarchy. King Charles is a massive hypocrite though and looks after his own interests before that of he Uk.

"Sorry but so did his mother"

I absolutely agree. She let plenty of legislation go through which benefitted her and her family. Anything to ensure the family get richer and richer and anything to ensure they can keep all their finances secret. The Queen even tried to make road traffic laws apply to her private Estates. They really think they are above the law. It was only in 1993 that the law to ensure the King or Queen doesn't have to pay inheritance tax came in. That's sick isn't it.
They are shameless and have no morals.
I can't believe all the people who support them.

I just can’t get my head around the fact that Charles cheated on his wife,
then the r.. married his mistress oh and we
now have him as king
and her her as queen , it’s all very grubby

I thought their expressions on the balcony suggested they too were ambivalent about the whole gig.

Whereas I find it funny that anyone, given a long history of royal extramarital shenanigans, finds this in any way worthy of note.

There was a fragility there, I felt. It would only take one small boy - possibly Prince Louis - to shout out, 'What a load of old baloney. Why are the grownups playing dress up?', to bring the house of cards tumbling down.

Floofyduffypuddy · 07/05/2023 12:36

@Tryphenia agree!!

Over all from camilla and Charles pov I'm very happy. It's a love story and its reached a happy ending.
I imagine camilla had an awful lot to put up with re the queen as her Mil 🤣😱.

The glance Charles gave her when she had just been crowned and walked towards him was pure love. It was like "finally".
❤️

However I don't think camilla put any mention of her step children in her dress? Perhaps she did but after decades of being around them it's a shame she doesn't have that relationship with them by now.

I found it fascinating. I found the history and all the symbolism really interesting. I think not enough people really get what a constitutional monarchy and an established church mean and this cermony illustrated it. It was bonkers in so many ways though.

I never quite understand the 'costs' quoted in that a lot of it must be paid employment. Like the people making the uniforms or caterers. So it must be a bit like the tax payer deciding to invest in sections of the economy rather than more austerity. Id probably rather an investment in green technology but I dont make gold fabric.

rattymol · 07/05/2023 12:43

It's not investing. It is paying for robes, dresses, etc to be made, caterers to provide food, etc. it is buying goods and services.
We don't when we go to the supermarket say we are investing in the food industry.

Spendonsend · 07/05/2023 12:49

We are encouraged to go and buy local things in local shops to 'invest in the local area'. Im always hearing i need to go save the high street by shopping or keep independent cofee shops open by buying coffee in them.

I think becoming a republic would be extremely historic.

I am genuinely not interested in anything this old buffoon and his woman do. They are an irrelevance

Thatsridiculous · 07/05/2023 23:55

We had a brilliant day celebrating yesterday. Had a tea party then watched the remainder of the coronation on catch up. Decorated the house and played some coronation themed games.

The kids loved it.

I had a lovely day with my family and enjoyed the concert. Very lucky to spend it with my elderly parents.
