I am in big trouble and it is all my fault

I rang my partner at work and asked him if he had seen the dog this morning before he left the house.
He said the dog was in the bed (which he was)
I told him the dog must have got out of the cat flap (he is a Chi) and we could not find him.
Then I called him back to say someone had found the dog and he was 20 miles away. To get him back we have to go to a shop (on my partner's way home from work) and say the code word 'cake' to get him back.
My partner left work to come home and look for him...

This is an April Fool btw.. he is not going to be amused is he ?

Hoping this post is an April Fools. It's not remotely funny

That's ok, at least if it was real then partner found it funny. If not then it's only internet randoms who find it unfunny. Win win.

Because the majority wouldn't find that a funny joke?

Thanks a lot for the support !

Luckily he does have a sense of humour and given that I prank him every April 1st he did have an idea.

Reading the answers though.. it was good cross section of the type of person who responds in the negative. maybe you should look at your responses and lighten the chuff up :)

It’s cruel and you know it. Grow up !!

pigsDOfly · 01/04/2023 14:31

You post about a very juvenile, cruel prank that you claim to have played on your partner and you're pissed off that no one finds it funny?

What did you expect, everyone to fall off their chairs laughing?

If it were a prank on your partner it would be incredibly cruel. If it's supposed to be a prank on MNers it's just not funny.

I think it's an April fool joke on mumnetters folks 🙄

You know I think you might be right although isn’t this pretty much the same as trolling? 🤔

ThanksItHasPockets · 01/04/2023 14:33

Please stop feeding it, folks.

KittyAlfred · 01/04/2023 14:58

If this is genuine - what is your husband’s job and will it make it harder for others that he left work early?

Wheresthebloodynurofen · 01/04/2023 15:01

How old are you? You sound like one of those 12 year olds that like to phone strangers up and say weird shit.

Lighten up?

You told him the dog was missing and given he was 20 miles away, had likely been taken. And that in order to get him back he'd have to go to a certain shop and say a code word. All implying it was a scam and they'd demand cash for the dog.

In response you partner left work, which was 20+, miles away so no small drive, to come and look for the pet.

It's good for you he knows what kind of person you are. The responses on here are a reflection of you, not other people's inability to have fun.

Wow you have a wonderful imagination. Have a nice day and maybe consider a new occupation in fictional stories

The best April Fool's jokes usually have a bit of wit to them, don't they? Makes them amusing, not just crass.

WillowtreeHouse · 01/04/2023 15:51

Well I wouldn't find it funny because I fucking hate 'pranks'. 🤷

Well maybe if you had MORE imagination you'd have managed a funny April Fools Prank 🙄

Saschka · 01/04/2023 16:26

OP: “AIBU, or am I hilariously funny?”

Everyone for 6 pages: “YABU, joking about a lost and potentially run over or stolen dog isn’t funny”

OP: “How dare you, I’m hilariously funny and posted this expecting everyone to stand up and clap! I’m sorry you are all such miserable fuckers!”

PinkLemonadee · 01/04/2023 16:27

Can tell half term started yesterday, can't you? 🙄

ivfbabymomma1 · 01/04/2023 17:45

If you joked about my dog being missing you'd never hear from me again

whynotwhatknot · 01/04/2023 18:31

ok round of applause you got him
