I am in big trouble and it is all my fault

I rang my partner at work and asked him if he had seen the dog this morning before he left the house.
He said the dog was in the bed (which he was)
I told him the dog must have got out of the cat flap (he is a Chi) and we could not find him.
Then I called him back to say someone had found the dog and he was 20 miles away. To get him back we have to go to a shop (on my partner's way home from work) and say the code word 'cake' to get him back.
My partner left work to come home and look for him...

This is an April Fool btw.. he is not going to be amused is he ?

So I am guessing that the April Fool is this post? It's not a very funny one OP.

Eyerollcentral · 01/04/2023 13:10

When do you turn 14?

Beachwalker66 · 01/04/2023 13:10

Assuming this is real, what’s wrong with you?

I think it’s quite funny. 20 miles and cake would be a bit of a giveaway to me. Oh well.

704703hey · 01/04/2023 13:13

Right...and OP's never coming back.

Selfcare12 · 01/04/2023 13:14

@Allthegoodnamesarechosen agreed! Albeit can understand why people don’t find it funny, however saying they would divorce etc is a bit dramatic imo. I take it that none of you have did or said something that in hindsight wasn’t a great idea?

Spottycarousel · 01/04/2023 13:15

This is absolutely horrible. I love my dog and would be distraught if a partner did this to me, not to mention livid with anger.

Your poor H having to leave work too..

No. Way out of order and not remotely amusing.

Killingmytime · 01/04/2023 13:16

If this is real id leave you.
im sorry, i do not take jokes on my pets. This is mental abuse.

sanityisamyth · 01/04/2023 11:42

This April fool is nearly as funny as my sister calling me when I was at uni 400 miles away to tell me that my horse was dead. I was devastated.

Your April fool was shit and I wouldn't be surprised that he's very very pissed off with you.

That's awful. I feel upset just reading that. I could never forgive her.

ArmchairAnarchist2 · 01/04/2023 13:18

Couldn't be bothered to read the full thread but had to add my voice to PP. Not only is it not even vaguely amusing, I'd dump you for it.

ChangedmynameagainforChristmas · 01/04/2023 13:19

Thanks a lot for the support !

Luckily he does have a sense of humour and given that I prank him every April 1st he did have an idea.

Reading the answers though.. it was good cross section of the type of person who responds in the negative. maybe you should look at your responses and lighten the chuff up :)

What? Really? This beyond cruel? Why would you do this? Do you genuinely think it's funny!

ChangedmynameagainforChristmas · 01/04/2023 13:21

Exactly this @Allthegoodnamesarechosen

No we shouldn't.

You need some empathy.

WeAreTheHeroes · 01/04/2023 13:21

Or you could grow up? Jokes are meant to be funny after all...

DarkShade · 01/04/2023 13:22

Lighten the chuff up? What on earth does that mean? I would not be amused and would not like this joke. Don't need to lighten up, you posted a thread asking for opinions. Why do you think that your sense of humour is the universally correct one that we should all adopt?

Fuctifin0 · 01/04/2023 13:23

I would seriously consider leaving the person who thinks this is a remotely funny stunt to pull.

My dh lost one of our dogs. I was incandescent with rage and couldn't speak to him I was that mad. It ended okay, she came home with the dog warden.

This just isn't funny 😭

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 01/04/2023 13:23

If you're going to prank someone, at least make it funny rather than mean.

You can grow 'the chuff' up too.

diddl · 01/04/2023 13:24

Thanks a lot for the support !

Why did you think you'd be supported for lying about a pet running away?

Not finding your post funny doesn't equal no sense of humour.

Hang on, you started a thread saying 'I'm in big trouble' and asking for support because your DH is going to be cross and now you're telling people to lighten up? If it was just a joke and he wouldn't mind, why bother posting in the first place? 🙄

userxx · 01/04/2023 13:25

How fucking bizarre.

GrinAndVomit · 01/04/2023 13:26

I hope he finds it funny.

Maybe he’ll appreciate the afternoon off work 🤞🏼

Fuctifin0 · 01/04/2023 13:27

@ChangedmynameagainforChristmas he must realise he is married to somebody who does twattish things and has got used to it over the years.

HarrysStyle · 01/04/2023 13:28

It's the Easter holidays. I'm assuming this is a child mucking about.

MichelleScarn · 01/04/2023 13:30

"Lighten the chuff up" ? And shitty April Fool.
Really....
