For me it’s the utterly obscure baby names. We’ve all seen them and I’m quite sure nobody uses them in real life. Yet on MN, it’s apparently standard.

Honourable mention to the 50% of posters whose husbands are earning upwards of £100K too.

OP posts:

Every child only gets 9s at gcse and A stars at A Level

This one sticks out and my own DC are in a different part of the UK 😂

ReneBumsWombats · 01/04/2023 07:49

We have an en suite, but I don't like it 😂

Jamieleecurtain · 01/04/2023 07:49

Finding any reason whatsoever to take against the side of the OP in AIBU because it’s more entertaining to berate a person who is reading your comments rather than the other side who won’t read it. Particularly disgusting when the OP is vulnerable/upset.

Also this is the exact reason why people do ‘reverse’ threads so the uproar that ensues when a reverse is revealed is really ridiculous too.

Didn't have to scroll too far in this thread anyway to find another thing that bugs me....

The overuse of the word ODD. Everything is odd. Odd odd odd.

pictoosh · 01/04/2023 07:49

That men should give up their hobbies, friends, family relationships and basically anything else other than going to work, when they become a father.
I'm a 'cool wife' - thank fuck.

Myneighbourskia · 01/04/2023 07:50

The competitive underspending on shopping. '5 people in my house and we spend 50 pounds a week on shopping.' Sure you do. 50 pounds would only cover half our lidl shop for the week - no alcohol - and there's three of us. People come out with some bullshit on here.

Teateaandmoretea · 01/04/2023 07:53

Obsession with every daft, clumsy comment anyone says being ‘rude’ and flagellating the OP for it.

The anti-children slant. Children must not make any noise that inconveniences adults even for a few minutes, for example in a train or restaurant. But if a load of adults want to have a loud party till 3am you are a miserable fucker for objecting.

ReneBumsWombats · 01/04/2023 07:54

The classism and describing things as "common". Does anyone say that in real life?

slashlover · 01/04/2023 07:54

Holding "snapped and farted" up as the pinnacle of comedy.

Asking anyone who is being slightly dramatic if they've ever been to the Sistine Chapel.

ComeOnNumber100 · 01/04/2023 07:55

Whatever you do don’t condone someone’s DP going away for a lads weekend leaving the OP with the baby.

Fedupofdiets · 01/04/2023 07:55

TommyNever · 01/04/2023 03:59

This.

Yeah, I probably do this.

Teateaandmoretea · 01/04/2023 07:56

@Myneighbourskia they buy food in other places too, eg they have vegetable boxes delivered and go to the butcher for meat and have a wine delivery. They buy cleaning stuff in Poundland.

The £50 is what they spend on the remainder 😂. I know because I have a rl friend with packed cupboards who claims to spend less than me on food shopping ….

Fedupofdiets · 01/04/2023 07:57

Every fucker on here batch cooks apparent, either that or they cook everything from scratch. Woe betide anybody buying a frozen lasagna from Tesco to serve with (gasps) oven chips.

Absolutely not. He's a father now.

Teateaandmoretea · 01/04/2023 08:00

The term ‘from scratch’ for some reason grates on me.

I think I just don’t like it but I also wonder if they really do make their own pasta, peel and roast tomatoes rather than using tinned etc….

Phos · 01/04/2023 08:00

Gleeful cries of LTB for the smallest misdemeanour.

Hysterics over superloos.

Fizbosshoes · 01/04/2023 08:01

The air of superiority about being frugal even though you earn 100k about virtually everything (apart from doing laundry)

Food - gosh I couldn't possibly eat for another day/week after having a roast dinner. 2 almonds is a decent snack etc

Presents - my DC will get a book, a jumper and an orange for Christmas

Heating - goodness I feel faint if we have the heating over 17c. Could you put another jumper or pair of socks on?

Alcohol - I rarely drink because we live very rurally and if DC had an accident there would be no other options at all, within a 50 mile radius to get them to hospital.

Dolphinnoises · 01/04/2023 08:01

That divorcing someone is easy, and should just be got in with. And why haven’t you actually divorced him yet? You were told to on page 1 two hours ago

Or the " I have only had my heating on once this winter "

But they have a fire going or live in the south ot France

WandaWonder · 01/04/2023 08:02

The fact people seem to live through the OP's dramas and take 100% what they say is totally true and totally the correct view coming from the op's side

A bad example but

"My husband won a million pounds and won't let me spend it on fairy dust for my 2 year old"

"Omg how totally unreasonable you are the most amazing mum in the world, he will regret that he should fully support everything you want to do, you need to leave"

x2boys · 01/04/2023 08:02

NewNameNigel · 31/03/2023 22:08

Yes, as if it's normal to cut contact with your own mother because she's a bit annoying!

Yep.and bloody cruel.too ,my mum is a bit annoying always has been but she's 81_and not in the best health ,it would be very cruel of me to.cut contact because ,she repeats herself and insists on phoning me even though she's as deaf,as post God bless her😂

Myneighbourskia · 01/04/2023 08:03

@Teateaandmoretea that's what I suspected...

CurlewKate · 01/04/2023 08:03

@Gremlins101 "This 😅 my poor, flawed but lovely DP would have got the LTB vote many moons ago"

The problem here is that for every genuine "flawed but lovely" there are more "flawed but far from lovely". And women who are not aware that the far from lovely behaviour they are experiencing is not OK, normal or what they deserve. So questions like "is the relationship you're modelling the sort of relationship you want your children to be in when they grow up?" can sometimes be incredibly helpful, even revelatory. However annoying/insulting/laughable the partners of the genuinely flawed but loveable find them.

Spyrothedragon23 · 01/04/2023 08:05

When you can tell someone is crying out for help or support, just not mentally in the best place and people still lay into them.
