Things that are socially acceptable but you wish they were not

I feel like a bit of a man. For me:

Men pissing by the side of the road. I have see this twice in the past few days, yet there were public loos close by. If a woman did this people would question her sanity, or at the very least think she was undignified yet for men it's considered normal.

Men going shirtless in public. Do what you like in your own garden, but why walk down the high street etc without a shirt. It's never that hot in England - in fact some much hotter climates actually have dignity laws that prohibit both men and women from even showing their arms or legs. Plus you know, sun burn.

Smoking. I hate walking behind someone who is smoking, it blows back in the face of the person behind and gives me a headache. It's unhealthy, expensive and should just be banged in public full stop imo.

Yes @Xtraincome

I totally agree with you having so many kids children by God knows how many men,

Also seeing this as a entitled lifestyle choice to breed with whoever so many different and expected the state Tax payers pay for this,

I say get off your backsides and pay for your own kids ,
It's your bloody choice after all

What's wrong with topless men?? No-one turns a hair where I live (not the UK), it's hardly offensive.

People smoking in the street don't bother me either. Some of you seem to be very intolerant.

I'm very intolerant

also hate topless men. When I belonged to a gym, it wasn't allowed. Interesting that some yoga classes allow it, maybe the gym does as well now.

DaSilvaP · 24/03/2023 21:59

MysweetAudrina · 24/03/2023 18:46

I really don't understand what is wrong with topless men. Plenty in my hot yoga class. What's so wrong with the human body that it offends people?

If only the good looking ones were walking around topless few would be complaining. Just my guess.

Goodread1 · 24/03/2023 21:59

I also find clothes where you can see outline of everything on show like Nipples and Camel Toes ect

Way too much ,

Really

People at concerts/gigs who video the whole event on their camera phones, rather than enjoy the music spontaneously. It just annoys me.

Definitely this. Drives me crazy. Especially when they all get into a group shot and start singing the big hit while videoing themselves with their back to the band.....so rude. As you said just enjoy the music

missymousey · 24/03/2023 22:00

Flying regularly. Eating loads of meat and flown-in produce.

My gorgeous fit 22ish neighbour did it in summer. We normally hug - I don't see him often as he works away a lot - but I actually said "oh my god, put yourself away" and he said "oh not you as well". 😂

he does 2 hours a day in the gym, he's great to hug but...no. So uncivilised. I can hoik my bosom if you'd like.

vera99 · 24/03/2023 22:05

People taking at gigs. I’ve paid good money to hear the artist not to have you talking utter shite shouted at your friend. Just fuck off and die please.

Babyroobs · 24/03/2023 22:05

Smoking, vaping, people ( usually women) going round the supermarket in their pyjamas. Yuk.

AnneElliott · 24/03/2023 22:09

Men walking out on their kids and not financially supporting them. I can't understand how people don't recoil with disgust when these scumbags make that fact known.

Tomandjerry80 · 24/03/2023 22:16

Not sure if it's been said but men putting their hands down the front of their trousers public, disgusting!! Would women ever get away with that?

Autienotnautie · 24/03/2023 22:16

@Autienotnautie

Yes can't stand Passive Aggressive Twattish behaviour too,
Or ridcule someone under disguise of joke, but hyper sensitive take things wrong way, when it relates to them,

Have you noticed that?

Thought it was just me,

Absolutely can give it but not take it

People who spend their free time on mumsnet complaining about truly harmless things. Honestly about 80% of you should take a long hard look in the mirror. The majority of this thread reads like a bunch old women complaining about anything that annoys them about young people. Half of these answers aren’t even things that are socially acceptable anyway, it’s just people moaning about things which don’t harm anybody in any way. Nipples visible through a shirt? Tight leggings? People using your first name? Stopping your trolley too suddenly?!? Jesus Christ get a life. Everybody finds people playing music out loud on the bus annoying - it’s not “socially acceptable”. There are real problems in this world and you lot have gone mad. Praying for all of you. So much jealousy and petty hatred here I’m losing faith in humanity.

Trolls on Mumsnet 🧌

Letsnotargue · 24/03/2023 22:19

Cats. Not cats in general, not the fact that people choose to have cats and enjoy having them as pets etc. I quite like cats.

But I do wonder how it got to be socially acceptable to own a pet, let it roam around to crap in peoples gardens, kill wildlife, taunt my dog (who is on his lead because he’s a twat and has zero recall ever). I know cats are ‘meant’ to be outside and it’s nigh on impossible to contain them in your garden or to go and pick up their poo, I do just wonder how it got to be OK to have a pet and take zero responsibility for its actions. I can’t think of any other pet this applies to.

😆😆😆

You’ve really over-egged the pudding here!

Atethehalloweenchocs · 24/03/2023 22:25

Seeing mens bums when they bend over in their saggy trousers. When they were putting in fibre on our road, I looked up to see 5 in a row. Not a nice sight.

  • People who pray for you, and tell you they're praying for you. Not everyone believes in sky fairies, keep your weird behaviours to yourself thanks.

Love these threads,

Every ig woman being privately diagnosed with ADHD, these referrals now clog the NHS,

airport bad behaviour- queue jumping, physically pushing their case into you in a q as if I can move anywhere. Badly behaved kids ignored by their parents. The fifty thousand visits to the toilet some people make on the plane

Lack of manners when eg you hold a door open honestly is a thankyou too much.

Ridiculous trans fashion, awful fetishism of women by vile Eddie izzard and Sam Smith.

The endless need to chill. My kids do one task a day then need to chill watching hours of netflix.

Nicola Sturgeon and what she tried to do to women with her gender reform bill.

My energy bills how the fuck can the gov do this to us,increase the cap when we are all struggling.

The cost of normal food bread, butter, chickpeas boring stuff all rocketing

They clog the nhs because mental health services in this country are dire. I am on a 2 year waiting list just to be diagnosed. Not therapy, diagnosed!

I'm sorry that me being neurodiverse is upsetting you and clogging the nhs.

I actually work for the NHS and my work have been so supportive it's unreal.

The reason is most women don't realise until their 30s due to the way we are conditioned as women and the things we did stopped working. The pandemic massively highlighted it and it's been a problem all my life not a trend.

Mariposista · 24/03/2023 22:32

Having your phone on the table when you meet someone for lunch/coffee
Allowing a young child to look at a phone in a cafe/restaurant
Using public transport without showering (BO in general)
Taking a radio to the beach and playing loud music
Leaving a mess on the table/floor when you have left a cafe/restaurant
Cleaning your hairbrush in the gym changing room and dropping the hair on the floor

Going shopping in pyjamas, slippers and dressing gown. Always women. Never see blokes doing it

i’ve only started seeing this more recently, it’s just unbelievable!!

ToWhitToWhoo · 24/03/2023 22:36

The fifty thousand visits to the toilet some people make on the plane

Some people (more than you think) have medical issues that require frequent trips to the toilet. And it's already treated as socially unacceptable enough to seriously restrict our lives.

CocoFifi · 24/03/2023 19:08

drawn on eyebrows, fake tan that looks like you have been tangoed, trout pouts, makeup so thick that it looks like a mask, fake boobs, fake teeth. teens that scream when they meet other. People that say "like or innit" every other word ......

Oh God yes. I agree with all those above too. The trend for underwear to be clearly visible through clothing . I am sick of seeing women’s thongs in graphic detail through their leggings which are completely see through.

I hate spitting in the street. I hate farting. I hate people who leave litter or even worse, throw it out of their cars.
The whole trend now for people to behave like they just got out of bed/ are in bed all day long. Either lounging on a sofa or slopping about in pyjamas.

Gender ideology and drags acts.

Loud drunken behaviour . People who watch videos or listen to music in public places. People who can’t put their phones away generally.

Lack of basic manners. I watched Stacey Solomon on a cookery programme eating with her mouth open and calling wine nail varnish.

SarahJinx · 24/03/2023 22:37

Burping. Vile.

33goingon64 · 24/03/2023 22:44

Letting your dog jump up on strangers who are just minding their own business. Has happened twice to me this week. Second time I staggered backwards it was so powerful. Got a meek 'sorry' from the owner who passed by without putting dog on lead - probably to go on and knock down an elderly person or traumatise a small child.
