Wearing pyjamas in the house ...

Does anyone else just wear pyjamas when home?

As soon as I'm home for the day and I know I'm not going out again I change straight into my pjs no matter what time of day it is.

I was just wondering if this is a common theme or just me?

I don't possess a single pair of PJs.
Would be far too hot to wear them in bed. Wouldn't go around the house in sleepwear at all the day. I just wear my jeans and t-shirt or sweatshirt in the day.
We're all different. Wasn't brought up to wear sleepwear in the day, neither was DH.

LaurieFairyCake · 12/03/2023 15:56

Yes I only wear pyjamas in the house the second I've finished work

But since mine are all sets of lovely silk PJ's they're going to trump all this 'joggers and sweatshirt' abomination a lot of people are wearing Grin

Wearing pyjamas in the house??

Well yes, where else would you wear them?

Have seen people down Tesco in their pyjamas.

Oooh yes, off with the bra and into pjs. Can't relax otherwise.

This is me.

As DH has a couple of pairs of 'comfy' joggers which he changes into, he bought me a pair of lounge pants at Christmas.

Now when we have had tea or finished the housework on a Saturday afternoon we change. Nothing better than doing this and yes including off with the bra.

The only thing is that DS (16) does not like me going to the shop with him wearing them as he gets embarrassed. Nobody notices them. 😊

TokyoStories · 12/03/2023 16:08

I change the second I get in. As another poster said, clothes that have felt relatively comfortable out and about become unbearable the moment I walk though the door, especially my bra. I put loungewear on rather than PJs, comfy jogging bottoms and loose stretchy top. My friend says it’s weird and likes to be dressed properly, like a “normal person” Confused life is too short to spend it in uncomfortable clothes.

WetBandits · 12/03/2023 16:11

Pyjamas in the house. Naked in bed 😂

Changemaname1 · 12/03/2023 16:11

joggies or shorts and t shirts rather than pjs but yes stuff that I would only wear at home and my massive oodie at the moment too. Soon as I get home

haven’t been “ dressed” all weekend

MysweetAudrina · 12/03/2023 16:13

Sweaty Betty leggings and tops 80% of my waking hours, pyjamas for bed and then a dress and tights for the office but that's only 1-2 days a week.

OriGanOver · 12/03/2023 16:17

Sometimes I have a shower and put PJs on/sometimes leggings and a t shirt.

Do people mean they put their pyjamas on before having a shower? Some threads on MN have posters saying they shower every other or every 3 days. Most people I know shower twice a day, I couldn't imagine putting my comfy clothes on without showering first.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 12/03/2023 16:24

DD (11) has day pyjamas and night pyjamas

whoruntheworldgirls · 12/03/2023 16:28

No, i put on loungewear, joggers and a long sleeve t-shirt

MyMachineAndMe · 12/03/2023 16:28

Yes, even when people come to visit or the kids' friends come to play. I go out to the garden in them too. I put them on as soon as I get home and I wear them for several days but I go to bed in just my vest and pants.

PolkaDotMankini · 12/03/2023 16:28

I usually WFH in pyjamas. When I'm home for the day after going out, I'm straight back into (clean) PJs too. Why wear uncomfortable clothes when I'm at home and not expecting anyone?

TokyoStories · 12/03/2023 16:30

Do people who sleep naked have the heating on in their bedrooms or a 50 tog duvet or something? Even in PJs and with hot water bottle I’m still shivering in bed.

NotaCoolMum · 12/03/2023 16:31

Yep- as soon as I’m home… Bra OFF, pjs ON

DRS1970 · 12/03/2023 16:31

I do the same.

Botw1 · 12/03/2023 16:32

@TokyoStories

I sleep in a t-shirt or vest.

Normal duvet, absolutely no heating at night

JellyfishandShells · 12/03/2023 16:36

I change into a stretchy top and yoga pants so they maybe have a similar relaxed feel to pyjamas but not as sloppy - they don’t look like them and I certainly don’t then wear them to bed. I’m a nightdress wearer in any case, but I want a differentiation between my day wear and bed wear. Do

Do people then sleep all night in those and change into them again in the house in the late afternoon /evening or are they fresh every day ?

fairtrauchled · 12/03/2023 16:41

I only wear pyjamas when I'm in bed.I might change into joggers or leggings in the house but for me pjs are strictly for bed.

mondaytosunday · 12/03/2023 16:43

My teenage daughter changes in to hers as soon as she's back from school (between 5 and 6pm), and will stay in jammies all weekend if not going out.
I like mooching around in them of a weekend morning but I am the only adult so if someone comes to the door it's me who answers.

reluctantbrit · 12/03/2023 16:45

7Worfs · 12/03/2023 12:29

Nope, pyjamas are for sleeping only.
I feel very strongly about it.

I’m not British though, so me judging your local customs shouldn’t matter. Grin

Same here :-)

I live in Jeans and tops when wfh and keep that until I go to bed.

Smart business when in the office but by the time I am home it's 6.30pm, I still may need to go out and collect DD from activities, cook and for the 2 hours on the sofa I can't be bothered to change, I may change into said jeans though, or shorts in Summer.

neilyoungismyhero · 12/03/2023 16:45

EspeciallyDedicated · 12/03/2023 13:37

No, they’re for sleeping or illness only, I would feel lazy and lethargic in them at any other time.

Yes me too.

Paturday · 12/03/2023 16:47

Yep. Always in pjs/jogging bottoms at home and naked for sleep 😁 makes your out of the house clothes feel more special if you don’t wear them at home haha .

AcrossthePond55 · 12/03/2023 17:03

Of course! I have what DH refers to as my 'pyjama wardrobe' consisting of 'sleeping PJs' and 'daytime PJs'. Daytime PJs are for, well, daytime wearing and sleeping PJs go on at bedtime. I even have Summer and Winter varieties.

I can gussy up myself and look like I came right out of the bandbox when I need to. But why on Earth shouldn't I be at my most comfy in my own home?

This is me. I have more lounge and sleepwear than anything else. I also have a large variety of wooly winter house socks.
