Wearing pyjamas in the house ...

Does anyone else just wear pyjamas when home?

As soon as I'm home for the day and I know I'm not going out again I change straight into my pjs no matter what time of day it is.

I was just wondering if this is a common theme or just me?

It seems to be very common, and even more so during lockdown. I can’t do it myself. I have to get washed and dressed, even if I’m ill.
But I don’t judge others for doing it. I do judge people who go out wearing them though.

What sort of bras are you all wearing that you need to take them off before bedtime? I don't even notice mine.

My private suspicion is that people who want to get straight out of their bras have had their bra fitted using the much-lauded MN bra fitting method instead of the old fashioned Marks and Sparks way. When I’ve had bras fitted using that method, they have been agonisingly uncomfortable - Marks reckons I’m a 40D but other ‘big boob’ methods would have me as a 34/36J or something. My Marks bras might not fit me properly but they’re perfectly comfortable to wear all day so I’m sticking with them!

I puttracksuit bottoms on normally

I don't want to eat in pjs and would put them on for bed or if I shower in the evening

No, l think it makes you lazy and inactive.
You can get some really lovely stylish casual wear that looks miles better than pjs.
I have two older sons and they never do either, we are a busy active family, no tv, maybe that makes a difference.

Waitingfortaco · 12/03/2023 19:20

My DD is rarely dressed in proper clothes when at home. She even jumps in the car and goes round to her boyfriend's in them. I love PJs and lounge wear. I will usually have my dressing gown on over whatever clothes I am wearing anyway. DH gets into comfies as soon as he gets in.

Botw1 · 12/03/2023 19:20

@SwimmingAgainstTheTides

But I'm OK with bring lazy and inactive and I don't care what I look like

JackieDaws · 12/03/2023 19:24

No because I'm not a scruff. I get dressed every day in proper clothes even if I'm not going outside. My clothes fit properly so never feel uncomfortable.

Good point, I tried that method out a couple of years ago, ordered lots of bras in my revised size which were all hideously tight in the band so I sent them all back and carried on with my usual size from M@S.

Ha! Glad it’s not just me.

Willowweaving777 · 12/03/2023 19:43

Each to their own but it's not for me. For a start we have dogs so pop out at least three times a day for walks. And our house is too old and cold to lounge about in. Plus I think it's a psychological barrier to popping out spontaneously and I think it's quite dangerous to cook (eg draining heavy saucepans of pasta) and do practical things (climb stairs and ladders) when you only have slippers or socks on your feet and flapping sleeves!

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 12/03/2023 19:44

I don't like eating dinner in my pyjamas, so I don't put them on till after dinner at the earliest.

Bras are like everything else you may think you're a certain size but buy a different make and you'll be different again.

thankyouforthesun · 12/03/2023 19:50

Nope, even if I am unwell I need to get up and get dressed. My mum drilled it into me, that if you hang around in pyjamas you feel worse.
You obviously feel relaxed and happy in yours though so you should continue to do what you're doing 😂

sunshinepleasecome · 12/03/2023 19:52

It would be bad for my mental health to wear PJs all day, plus I like to go out for walks when I can during the day. I do like to wear comfort clothes though - leggings and a jumper or hoody most days. I put my PJs on after a bath in the evening.

When one company uses one method and measures me as a 36J and it’s incredibly uncomfortable, but Marks uses a different method and says I’m a 40D, and it fits like a glove and I can wear it all day, that’s not just different companies having different sizes, though. Or I’d be comfy in both.

BigFatLiar · 12/03/2023 20:16

Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your outlook, I'm one of those who can get away with no bra, OH says he has bigger boobs than me these days.

ilovebagpuss · 12/03/2023 20:16

Not until later on no, i change into jeans and comfy top after work clothes and then either PJ's at bedtime, or occasionally earlier if watching a film or whatever and settling down.
Who cares though it's your home and up to you.

ChicagoBears · 12/03/2023 20:26

I tend to wear loungewear at home which could absolutely double as pyjamas. No comfort like it.

TheChosenTwo · 12/03/2023 20:45

I don’t own pyjamas and tend to wear comfortable clothes anyway. Dresses with tights, long tops with leggings or gym wear, very rarely wear jeans as I just hate the stiff fabric.
I sleep naked, can’t be doing with layers under the duvet as I’m a real fidget in bed and move all night, I’d get tangled up.
Pyjamas and dressing gowns during the day conjure up depressing images in my head for some weird reason!

lmnabc · 12/03/2023 20:46

Not warm enough in my house, I'd need thermals underneath and fleeces on top

LadyHarrietVane · 12/03/2023 20:47

I have day pyjamas and night pyjamas. Day PJs are comfy clothes that I can also put out the bins while wearing.

BluetheBear · 12/03/2023 20:55

Yes and no.

I like to have a shower and change into house clothes when I get home from work or a day out of the house. I feel more relaxed and clean.

BUT I also don't like to go to bed in my pyjamas I have had on for hours and been cooking in and cleaning in SO if I had cooking or cleaning to do then I would do that THEN shower and put pyjamas on.

Whattodo121 · 12/03/2023 21:12

I don’t get into pjs until I go upstairs for the evening. Tonight I had a shower and washed my hair at 7pm so got into pjs and watched telly in bed rather than on the sofa. Normally I’d go up with a cup of tea somewhere between 8-9pm and get into pjs then.

LuckyThatMyBreastsAreSmallAndHumble · 12/03/2023 23:04

Trackky Bs after work for me. I'll
Just a top for bed!

DH is trackky B's after work but he sleeps naked.

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/03/2023 23:04

Yes, obviously 😁
