“Going anywhere nice on your holidays?”

Inspired by my hairdresser, tell us your holiday plans for this year.

Is it Torquay to Thailand?

Are you more “swim up bar” or “sleep in my car”?

Do you come home looking Turkish, or more resembling a freshly plucked turkey? 🦃

It’s just hit 0 degrees outside. Put a spring in my step!

Cycling in Mallorca at Easter. I can't wait! It's been a long year already...

merlotlover · 08/03/2023 21:00

We're off to Tenby
Haven't been since I was a little girl and the radio one roadshow was on the beach and George Michael and the ghostbusters theme tune on loud volume from big ghetto blasters
It was ace! Doubt it will be like that now hehe but looking forward to it, u have very fond memories of there

PinkSyCo · 08/03/2023 21:15

‘Nope, can’t afford a holiday. Not when you are charging me 35 quid for a dry cut!’ ‘You?’

ScarletPower · 08/03/2023 21:17

Had 3 nights in Iceland last month.

Booked a week's bed and breakfast in Rhodes for September.

Booked a taster cruise, 3 nights in May.

Thinking of booking an all inclusive week in Egypt for next March.

We could never afford holidays when the kids were young so now it's just the two of us to pay for I'm making up for it.

Of course. It’s called Mitsis family village, Kos.

I thought it sounded like the family village! We’ve booked there for August! What’s it like? Am really looking forward! We’ve got the swim up maisonette booked 😊

mamaduckbone · 08/03/2023 22:32

Fuerteventura for a week in July.
Nothing much else as we overdid it last year and we have money to spend on the house.
The in-laws live by the seaside in Suffolk though so a couple of mini breaks there, and possibly some camping if the weather is really good.

@MumofSpud
Don't be put off by DF crap, The Canaries are very good, we go twice per year, very welcoming, you'll have a ball.

That's a relief given that we just booked tonight! Would generally go with 'If the DF says it the opposite must be true'

HerRoyalNotness · 08/03/2023 22:36

Skiing on Friday in Colorado for spring break. 15hr drive to look forward to and colder than where we are.

thaegumathteth · 08/03/2023 22:37

We had 3.5 weeks in florida last year so nowhere exotic this year!!

Might have a night in Aviemore in April and then I think we are going to head down near London somewhere for a week in July.

Kids both have trips with guides / scouts in October / November so that's more money too 😭

whatthehelldowecare · 08/03/2023 22:48

We're going all out this year as it's been ageees since we've had a proper holiday. Work etc is all aligning, so this is our 'fuck it let's do it!' year!

We're just back from Paris, doing the NC500 in a campervan in May, south of France in July for a fortnight and then somewhere v lush for a fortnight at the end of the year just me and DH for a very overdue honeymoon, we're thinking the Seychelles!

Spanglybangles · 08/03/2023 23:12

We fly to Vancouver in April for a 9 day drive around some of British Columbia. It’s our first family long haul trip…cannot wait!! If funds allow, would love to go to Texas later in the year, October maybe, as we family there.

FrangipaniBlue · 08/03/2023 23:29

I hate this question.

I always want to reply "no, we thought we'd go somewhere shit this year for a change" 😂

We love it. Great food choices, as many cocktails as you like. Lovely pools. We stay in a swim up maisonette too and it’s fantastic. We rarely used the main pool tbh. We hire a car and drive round the island to the different beaches. It’s fantastic. Enjoy!

JorisBonson · 09/03/2023 08:22

Crete in April, Madrid in June, Valencia and France in September. A good year!

Equimum · 09/03/2023 08:28

We've got a weekend in York, two weeks in Cornwall and a week on a canal boat booked. We'll probably also either do a few days in Edinburgh or Northumbria in October.

Downtherabbitholeagainandagain · 09/03/2023 08:33

Off to Brisbane and the Gold Coast for Easter holidays. We like doing city breaks generally rather than sitting by a pool.

fairtrauchled · 09/03/2023 08:52

Weekend in Glasgow
Villa in the Algarve
Peak District in September
Norfolk after Peak District
Lanzarote for some sunshine in November

Stopyourhavering64 · 09/03/2023 09:16

India ( more specifically Chennai as dh was born there and has never been back since he was a baby 61 years ago!),
then we're heading to Bali for a fortnight as dd now lives and works there

Lacestockings · 09/03/2023 09:27

We're going to Florida at Easter to see relatives - that's not our main family holiday as it's not in a touristy bit and we will spend a lot of the time just sitting in the IL's house.

Haven't decided on a destination for a summer holiday yet, but considering Amsterdam for the theme parks. Easy to get to as we live near St Pancras Station.

Would like to do a city break in France at some point too.

Phos · 09/03/2023 09:34

Great Yarmouth in Easter holidays.

Turkey at half term and again in summer holidays. Same resort, just once with my mum and DD and once with DH and DD. Probably exactly the kind of holiday MN hate, being all inclusive but it's very family friendly, the food is great, choice of pools, right on the beach and some good day trips available.

Hoping to get away in October as well but DH and his bloody family are banging on about a particular long haul next Easter so that's probably kiboshed that idea.

HoppingMarchHares · 09/03/2023 09:38

We never go abroad. No money to do so.

We've got 11 nights in Scotland booked for May. I'll probably have a week off work the week before schools break up in July (no kids), don't know if I'll go away though.
Then October the week before half term we always have 4 nights in Dorset.

We have got an old caravan that we are renovating. There are 2 big jobs that need doing on it before we can use it again. If we can afford to get those done before the end of the summer we will have 3 or 4 nights somewhere.

Keeween · 07/03/2023 22:53

Canada in July with DH and our 20 month old. We’ve tickets to the Calgary stampede then we’re hiring a camper and just seeing where we end up. We have three weeks!
Also have a couple of trips to London (music gigs; Luke combs in October, Morgan Wallen in December), a weekend in Belfast in May and a week in Italy in September for a friends wedding.

We are also doing an RV from Calgary in July 😃 cannot wait

fussychica · 09/03/2023 12:49

Off on Saturday for a week in Austria, doing Salzburg and Vienna
3 weeks in a villa in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote mid April
Overnighter in Amsterdam in late May for the Vermeer exhibition (wedding anniversary)
The wonderful Pembrokeshire late June, 5 nights
September driving through France on 2 week tour then on to southern Spain for 6 weeks in a house by the beach.
Almost booked another trip to Lanzarote pre Xmas but holding off.
Very lucky. Now retired so can travel outside school holidays. Almost always self cater which means we can afford to do more trips.

EveryLittleWish · 09/03/2023 13:14

I’m a swim up bar but also sleep in my car gal lol! I have an all inclusive Caribbean holiday booked for next month but I also have a camper van/ a few camping trips booked .
