“Going anywhere nice on your holidays?”

CalpolDependant · 07/03/2023 20:48

Inspired by my hairdresser, tell us your holiday plans for this year.

Is it Torquay to Thailand?

Are you more “swim up bar” or “sleep in my car”?

Do you come home looking Turkish, or more resembling a freshly plucked turkey? 🦃

It’s just hit 0 degrees outside. Put a spring in my step!

That sounds nice. Can I ask which hotel ?

Of course. It’s called Mitsis family village, Kos.

DuvetDownn · 08/03/2023 14:35

Cambodia and Vietnam in two weeks!

Saisong · 08/03/2023 14:40

@Emilyjayne9421 so glad to hear you liked that hotel, I just booked it last night for us! Will be a post GCSE celebration, so really hoping it works well for teens. It gets such good reviews.

userxx · 08/03/2023 15:34

@Emilyjayne9421 Oh really! I'm going to the Mitsis Norida which I think is next door, will look at the family village for next year. Dont suppose you know if there are buses near the hotels do you?

ChocSaltyBalls · 08/03/2023 15:36

@Saisong we loved it! Oh lovely, when are you going? Start of June for us. Well we have a pre teen who loves it as much as the 4 and 6 year olds if that helps!

Saisong · 08/03/2023 16:38

End of July, going a week before the official school holidays as will have finished all exams by then.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 08/03/2023 17:13

We are off to the Yorkshire coast for two weeks on the summer. We are having a year off of overseas holidays after the stress of last year's flight cancellations. Just came back from a gorgeous Feb half term in Norfolk.

lieselotte · 08/03/2023 19:25

I thought this was going to be a thread about hating that question by hairdressers! Fortunately I know mine better now so we talk about other things.

I was meant to be going away this weekend but weather is rubbish so not going.

Otherwise have nothing planned.

lieselotte · 08/03/2023 19:27

Before anyone thinks I am showing off, I am retired now, and at last have the time and the money so I am doing it while I can still walk and talk at the same time lol

I've a friend who has recently retired and she is never home! As you say, you might as well while you have your health (and presumably the "wealth" too).

BCBird · 08/03/2023 19:29

France for 10 days with mate I've known for 30 years. It's our anniversary holiday 🤣she is driving,I am hoping I don't have to do much navigating. I will be tackling the lingo🙂

squashyhat · 08/03/2023 19:33

Luxembourg for a short break in mid-April, Verona and Lake Gaza at the end of May for our 30th wedding anniversary and Japan with friends in September. And probably UK camping outside of the school holidays in the summer.

Thatsnotmybee · 08/03/2023 19:44

Devon for 10 days in July (before the schools break up so I'm hoping it won't be too busy.

Hopefully will go to the Lakes for a few days as well. I love it and usually go every year but didn't manage it last year.

And my DM has just bought a caravan in the Yorkshire Dales so I imagine we'll have a few weekends there

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 08/03/2023 19:47

Weekend in London to see Take That in Hyde Park & another to see a show for DH’s 60th. Hopefully have a proper holiday next year.

NomadicSpirit · 08/03/2023 20:03

OldTinHat · 07/03/2023 21:02

A what now? A holiday??? *scratches head in confusion!

This. Can't afford anything with the way prices of everything are at the moment. Last time I went on a holiday was about 10 years ago.

MissAmbrosia · 08/03/2023 20:08

Prague in April for a girly weekend. Ischia and Naples in May and Sicily in September. My bucket list basically involves visiting the whole of Italy and I still have some way to go.

AffIt · 08/03/2023 20:22

Loads on this year! A couple of big events, a few city breaks, some weekend overnights and a week in the south of France for the RWC as our 'main' holiday.

I'm also lucky enough to travel quite a lot for work and will be going to a few cities I've never visited before this year. I always try to plan in a bit of tourist time in between meetings!

I'm trying to make better use of my leave this year and use it across the year, rather than burning myself out, taking two weeks to do nothing / carrying X days over into the new year and then getting annoyed at myself for not being more organised.

Peckhaminn · 08/03/2023 20:36

Cancun in April. Cannot wait!

Angebot · 08/03/2023 20:44

10 days in majorca. Totally centred in the kids as its a water park and family orientated. Cost me a small fortune as in the summer hols

fruitandfibreg · 08/03/2023 20:45

Going to dubai on the weekend for 2 weeks and Greece in oct. Full up of a cold and praying it's gone by the time we fly!
