“Going anywhere nice on your holidays?”

Inspired by my hairdresser, tell us your holiday plans for this year.

Is it Torquay to Thailand?

Are you more “swim up bar” or “sleep in my car”?

Do you come home looking Turkish, or more resembling a freshly plucked turkey? 🦃

It’s just hit 0 degrees outside. Put a spring in my step!

@MumofSpud
Don't be put off by DF crap, The Canaries are very good, we go twice per year, very welcoming, you'll have a ball.

We’re going to Kos, Greece in June for a week. We went last summer and loved it so much we booked the same place. All inclusive, lovely sharing pool right outside our maisonette and a family friendly atmosphere. I can’t wait.

That sounds nice. Can I ask which hotel ?

Mrsjayy · 07/03/2023 21:53

@LittleBrownJug Tenerife isn't as bad as that thead suggested. There will be some party tourists but it was fine we didn't see any trouble. .

Carsarelife · 07/03/2023 21:58

Calliell · 07/03/2023 21:58

I just got back from Ireland and booked a week in Italy in June and a week in Cornwall in August.

OnaBegonia · 07/03/2023 22:01

@Carsarelife
Have you been to Portugal before, I'm looking for ideas.

Quveas · 07/03/2023 22:03

Was in Mexico in January. Dublin next week. Tunisia in May. Wales in July. Kos in September. Back to Mexico in December and Egypt in January 24. Not including short breaks.

gogohmm · 07/03/2023 22:07

Off to the Balearics next month

gogohmm · 07/03/2023 22:08

Will go away later in the year too plus some camping

Andante57 · 07/03/2023 22:10

and the WW1 memorials at Menin and Paschendaele for Remembrance time.

pillBoxes that will be amazing. Take plenty of tissues.

FettleOfKish · 07/03/2023 22:14

Been to Germany already, off to Portugal, Asia & Scandinavia at various points later in the year.

Potential for a couple of part-work part-play trips in central Europe too.

Fixed term mortgage ends in November so we're squeezing the holidays in while we can. The new rate will be a problem for future us. At least when we're eating beans straight from the tin we'll have nice memories to look back on.

Blinky21 · 07/03/2023 22:42

Devon, Germany/Austria, USA booked so far

Keeween · 07/03/2023 22:53

Canada in July with DH and our 20 month old. We’ve tickets to the Calgary stampede then we’re hiring a camper and just seeing where we end up. We have three weeks!
Also have a couple of trips to London (music gigs; Luke combs in October, Morgan Wallen in December), a weekend in Belfast in May and a week in Italy in September for a friends wedding.

Hotvimto3 · 07/03/2023 22:54

Cornwall in may

There will be a trip to N Wales and Chester, then later to Provence doing the cities Arles, Nimes, Aix, Avignon - fly into and out of Marseilles. Using the SNCF train connections looks easy enough (famous last words!). Then Autumn in Estepona and Cadiz, then Brussels, Ghent, Bruges and the WW1 memorials at Menin and Paschendaele for Remembrance time. No trips during the school hols.

Before anyone thinks I am showing off, I am retired now, and at last have the time and the money so I am doing it while I can still walk and talk at the same time lol. Was not always like this but enjoyed myself no matter how near or cheap the place was.

I really enjoy these threads, might get some more ideas too.

That sounds excellent — roll on retirement!

APurpleSquirrel · 07/03/2023 23:01

Bluestone in April/May & Isle of Wight May/June

Deathraystare · 07/03/2023 23:05

Cruising the Fjords in May.

By the way that is the silliest question. . Not getting at the poster. Whenever anyone asks I want to reply "No I am going to spite myself by going somewhere really shite".

mastertomsmum · 07/03/2023 23:15

Cornish surfing as last year.

jay55 · 07/03/2023 23:17

Cornwall in September, visiting family so not entirely holiday.

Tinkeytonkoldfruit · 07/03/2023 23:21

Morocco for two weeks over Easter, a long weekend to Paris with my DSS for his 18th birthday in July and then Northumberland for a week in August.

mymeatballsmymeatballs · 07/03/2023 23:23

Rome
Center Parcs
Northumberland

Very excited for them all, I love travelling and seeing new places.

XenoBitch · 07/03/2023 23:24

Weymouth in a caravan Blush

SkaneTos · 07/03/2023 23:24

London! (I do not live in the UK)

SwordToFlamethrower · 07/03/2023 23:26

We have 7 camps booked in our caravan, ranging from music festivals to craft camps. Cant wait!

Champagneforeveryone · 07/03/2023 23:28

Venice next week, South Africa in May and Scotland in September. We're not usually so jet-setting but had vouchers to use up after Covid. Also no longer limited to school holidays which is a revelation!
