“Going anywhere nice on your holidays?”

CalpolDependant · 07/03/2023 20:48

Inspired by my hairdresser, tell us your holiday plans for this year.

Is it Torquay to Thailand?

Are you more “swim up bar” or “sleep in my car”?

Do you come home looking Turkish, or more resembling a freshly plucked turkey? 🦃

It’s just hit 0 degrees outside. Put a spring in my step!

A week camping in Cornwall, a 10 day trip to the North West including a festival, and 3 short UK breaks booked so far. Planning a weekend away (maybe abroad) with girlfriends too.

MyMachineAndMe · 07/03/2023 23:52

My neighbours asked me if I was going somewhere nice a few days ago. I was in a mood though so I said no, I was going somewhere bloody horrible 😂

We're off to Filey for a long weekend in a fancy caravan this summer. Can't wait.

RotundBeagle · 07/03/2023 23:53

Probs two weeks in Crete. Maybe a shirt trip to Germany for a friend's bday.

There will be a trip to N Wales and Chester, then later to Provence doing the cities Arles, Nimes, Aix, Avignon - fly into and out of Marseilles. Using the SNCF train connections looks easy enough (famous last words!). Then Autumn in Estepona and Cadiz, then Brussels, Ghent, Bruges and the WW1 memorials at Menin and Paschendaele for Remembrance time. No trips during the school hols.

Before anyone thinks I am showing off, I am retired now, and at last have the time and the money so I am doing it while I can still walk and talk at the same time lol. Was not always like this but enjoyed myself no matter how near or cheap the place was.

I really enjoy these threads, might get some more ideas too.

We are heading to Provence too! We have a villa in Saint Remy for a week.

We are actually having a 2-week tour of England before a night in Paris and then the train down to Marseille. We live in the US and I want my kids to know their heritage. VRBOs all the way 😀

We haven't booked yet. I'd like to go for a week in Greece or Spain, but we'll have a 2-3 month old baby m, so seeing how it goes before we commit.

Yoloohno · 08/03/2023 00:53

Just back from a canaries cruise.

An overnight for a Pink concert in June

Long weekend on the Costa del sol in July.

A cruise around Western Europe in September.

And a couple booked for 2024 including Norway that’s on my bucket list.

Babyenroute · 08/03/2023 04:11

Off to the Maldives on Friday! Our first all inclusive type of holiday for ages but we now have a baby so it will be easy and relaxing

Maraudingmarauders · 08/03/2023 04:22

I did a city break with a friend in February (DH went skiing) and we've got a 5day break to Spain at the end of march. I'm due a baby in September so money/Annual leave/practicalities mean that's probably all for foreign trips. We're in West Wales at the in-law's caravan for Easter weekend and I'm hoping we might squeeze in another before d-day, though not the August bank holiday we normally use, as cutting it a little fine by then.

MinnieMountain · 08/03/2023 04:42

Switzerland at Easter, South of France in May, Rome and Pompei in October. Slovenia by myself in September 😁

Diggingmyselfoutthehole · 08/03/2023 05:00

Girls weekend in Malaysia this weekend, Thailand in three weeks and then Philippines in May 🥳🥳🥳 can’t wait!!

HelloBunny · 08/03/2023 05:11

No money. No holiday. Same last few years. We’re used to it now. DH gets pissed off about it, but never saves for the holiday fund. Had a weekend away recently (first since our baby was born) & he resented the cost of it. I don’t want to hear about it for a bigger holiday...

CeeceeBloomingdale · 08/03/2023 05:15

Long weekend in Scotland, a beach flop in Majorca and a city break to New York, all very exciting!

Isledelaray · 08/03/2023 05:43

Nowhere sadly! We can't afford it. We'll probably visit our parents as they all live in nice places.
Wish we were off to France with our 2 year old though!

Oblomov23 · 08/03/2023 05:54

All-abusive Grin

Our caravan in Dorset x 3, Alvor Portugal to my mums 5* timeshare for free, Benidorm for my 50th, Ibiza with the girls. All minimal cost. Can't wait.

GnomeDePlume · 08/03/2023 06:22

We are planning on a week of strawberry picking, staying at a self catering holiday home in the Midlands.

Yes, we are staying home this year. We will have a week of gentle pottering on the allotment. We will go out for lunch and just generally have a relaxing time.

We had a lovely holiday last year staying in a villa in Provence with grown up DDs and their partners. It was an all out holiday. The villa was amazing with our own pool and plenty of space for everyone. We ate outside every day. We swam. We had trips out to go to markets, castles, hilltop villages.

I'm not feeling the pull to go anywhere this year.

Enidcat5 · 08/03/2023 06:40

We're going to eurocamp in the Netherlands I am so freaking excited!!! I can't wait to see the kids having fun, and I'm excited to have a break.
