Mornington Crescent rides again

To nobody’s surprise, the frantic pace of this latest game means that the last thread is full and (as far as I can see) <polishes lorgnette> we don’t yet have a successor. So, off we go with a Brunswick Lateral to

Russell Square

The Major has long been renowned for his audacity, as those of us who were with him in that rather seedy bar in Montmartre in ‘82 recall to our cost. The double bass has been out of tune ever since.

I've had an inspiring thought remembering a move made by the Vice Admiral in '87 in Prague hence Boston Manor

GonzoFlyingProducts · 22/03/2023 00:48

Trying to cover the move to Boston Manor with a mention of the Vice Admiral may fool some - but not me - I counter (almost erotically) with

QUEENSWAY

DuckonaBike · 22/03/2023 07:21

Gosh, the game took a racy turn late last night. Puts me in mind of Havana in 1997. I still find the smell of mosquito repellent … evocative.

<sighs>

Now in the cold light of morning, I move to Kensington High Street

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/03/2023 09:29

I’m feeling somewhat under the weather this morning, as recollecting Montmartre led me to reach for the absinthe again. I can just about summon the energy for a Montmorency’s Pike to

Tottenham Court Road

LlynTegid · 22/03/2023 13:51

I think the Elizabeth line needs to come to our aid again, to get us to Paddington.

TragicMuse · 22/03/2023 20:06

Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder, eh Maud?

Brondesbury Park.

Always makes me think of a brontosaurus...

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 22/03/2023 20:23

Hmm. Interesting times call for interesting drinks. I play the bar sinister to Whitechapel

AmandaHoldensLips · 22/03/2023 20:34

I'm sorry but everybody knows that you can't do Brondesbury Park after Paddington which therefore renders Whitechapel invalid, through no fault of @Thewolvesarerunningagain

I hate to be a pedant but if we don't stick to the rules it makes a mockery of the whole game.

So technically we have to remain at Paddington until the next move, and because of the error we cannot have anything on the Bakerloo line.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/03/2023 22:28

Absinthe makes the heart grow weaker, TragicMuse, as the palpitations will testify. Without further ado:

Pimlico

@DuckonaBike - I thought we agreed never to mention Havana again - it wasn't me who caused an Eddington and that thing you did with the Champagne and the frog - I still have feelings...

You compel me (as you always will) -

COCKFOSTERS

DuckonaBike · 23/03/2023 07:15

Sorry, Gonzo. I assure you the frog was perfectly all right afterwards. I’m not sure the champagne was, but we drank it anyway.

Let’s have a brisk Half Nelson to Wood Green

LlynTegid · 23/03/2023 07:18

I think the rail replacement rule has to be used to avoid us being in Nidd.

So once the aged bus has taken us to Finsbury Park, then using the Great Northern rule we end up at Moorgate

TragicMuse · 23/03/2023 08:16

Damn my misprinted Stovold's. I am suitably chastened @AmandaHoldensLips

Can I have Brondesbury Park now?

AmandaHoldensLips · 23/03/2023 08:28

Yes, I believe that is indeed allowed. Very impressive. I hate to do this to the next player, and I think you'll all gasp at the chutzpah... I'm going for Rayners Lane.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/03/2023 10:12

Chutzpah indeed, but it’s got us out of a very tight spot (much like, dare I say it, that one in Havana). Let’s sashay on to

Tottenham Hale

OP posts:
HazelBite · 23/03/2023 19:25

Tottenham Hale? I feel I must redress the balance here Holloway Road

SomethingOnce · 23/03/2023 21:31

Harringay Green Lanes. Classic!

GonzoFlyingProducts · 23/03/2023 21:36

Listen, any more talk of Havana and I'll report you all to the Fat Controller... With that out of the way - risky I know but...

CHALK FARM

LlynTegid · 24/03/2023 07:06

Interesting use of the London Overground rule, which seems to have been played several times in this game. Might be the highest number of times since the 11 month game a few years ago (or the short game as it has become known).

Belsize Park

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 24/03/2023 08:00

That was a short game! In its honour, let's play the drain card and head to Bank.

TragicMuse · 24/03/2023 12:52

Waterloo East.

There's some very conservative playing going on here I am going to boldly go.....
Stepney Green

If it’s bold you’re seeking, HazelBite, prepare yourself …
