Mornington Crescent rides again

To nobody’s surprise, the frantic pace of this latest game means that the last thread is full and (as far as I can see) <polishes lorgnette> we don’t yet have a successor. So, off we go with a Brunswick Lateral to

Russell Square

OP posts:
HazelBite · 03/03/2023 19:17

There's very good shopping near Lancaster Gate

DuckonaBike · 03/03/2023 20:49

I like the way the game is moving today …

High Street Kensington

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/03/2023 20:58

Ooh. That’s very liberating. I can now play my favourite bisected perpendicular to

Hainault

Chat1354 · 03/03/2023 20:59

I haven’t played this for a good few years so may be a little rusty. But if memory serves, the only obvious move from here is invoke the rule of four which would take us on the inverse to

Victoria

LlynTegid · 03/03/2023 21:01

Four stops further I think is Oval.

Helenloveslee4eva · 03/03/2023 21:43

Is it my turn yet ?
seems to be a lot of sneaky under hand points fiddling so far , so under the Kings Rules , which I believe we can invoke before the coronation …
….the only choice really is ….

REGENTS PARK !

FourBoysAndAFeline · 03/03/2023 21:50

I have absolutely no idea what this thread is or what it means.

Except I drove down Mornington Cresent on Thursday in Hove and I thought of these random threads that I have never understood.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/03/2023 22:09

It may look baffling at first, FourBoysAndAFeline - I remember my own tentative first steps at the Worthing preliminaries in 1957 - but, if you watch for a while, you’ll see a pattern emerge.

Boston Manor

OP posts:
SomethingOnce · 04/03/2023 01:25

Oh, you are a one, Maud! Bravo!

Such a clever move can only be followed with Totteridge & Whetstone.

sashh · 04/03/2023 04:41

@FourBoysAndAFeline I find new comers do well starting with the Northern Line. You will still find I play a lot of NL stations.

So in your honour, and in the hope you join in

East Finchley.

HazelBite · 04/03/2023 08:56

I can only go to Brent Cross (still shopping!)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/03/2023 09:03

Gosh! You’re audacious, SomethingOnce, returning to Totteridge and Whetstone so soon after it was last played. Strictly, it’s against the rules (Consolidated Almanac of MC, 2021 edition, page 341) but I’m feeling awfully generous this morning, so won’t enforce it. With a hop, skip and a joyous jump, I move to

Dollis Hill

I was watching Top Of The Pops last night. Seeing The Thompson Twins made me think they must have been keen players in their time as 'a quick step and a side kick' is a move introduced in the heady days days of the 80s.

Is it the musical equivalent of a Masonic handshake, perhaps?

Either way, using exactly that move I'm at Brondesbury.

DuckonaBike · 04/03/2023 13:14

Indeed Tragic - it’s always a pleasure to encounter a fellow player in the wild, and I do feel that one can usually tell. Though I have occasionally been taken by surprise.

A Halliburton Twist to Kilburn High Road

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/03/2023 13:22

Ah, the Thompson Twins. Heady, heady days.

Arnos Grove

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 05/03/2023 12:12

There are I am sure a number of musicians who play the game of games most likely under a pseudonym.

With the aid of the rail replacement bus rule I can get to the Victoria Line and move to Oxford Circus.

HazelBite · 05/03/2023 23:04

I think the only option here is Turnpike Lane

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/03/2023 23:24

Which sets us up nicely for a Morton’s Overpass to

Chancery Lane

OP posts:
Thewolvesarerunningagain · 06/03/2023 03:03

Surely Chancery can only lead to Bank? Or was it the other way around?

TragicMuse · 06/03/2023 08:10

First Sunday of the month rule, I think you're ok @Thewolvesarerunningagain

You can only use it once in any moon phase though so...

From Bank to...oh lor'...ah! Southwark!

HazelBite · 06/03/2023 10:01

Well Maud its Monday now, so I'm going with Waterloo

LlynTegid · 06/03/2023 15:46

The Bakerloo line can be a great help when it comes to playing after a series of interesting moves, those demonstrating the expertise that comes from playing the game of games for years, as no doubt some in this game have done.

Piccadilly Circus

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/03/2023 15:52

Nicely done! A short but, I hope, subtle move using Fermat’s Pass to

Great Portland Street

OP posts:
DuckonaBike · 06/03/2023 16:09

Very tasteful, Maud. I’m an admirer of Fermat’s Pass but I’m glad you didn’t apply his last theorem; if that had gone wrong we would all be in Nidd.

Marylebone

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/03/2023 16:33

There’s an interesting intersection, I always think, between mathematics and the game of games. After all, both demand analytical thinking and a thorough knowledge of thermodynamics and first aid. Let’s play a (very) wild card:

Stockwell
