Mornington Crescent rides again

To nobody’s surprise, the frantic pace of this latest game means that the last thread is full and (as far as I can see) <polishes lorgnette> we don’t yet have a successor. So, off we go with a Brunswick Lateral to

Russell Square

I'm going against the grain here Arsenal

(this hurts me I'm a Spurs supporter, but I see no other move!)

LlynTegid · 14/03/2023 20:14

@HazelBite I think South Tottenham with the aid of the London Overground rule can be the next move.

There are of course some who played the game of games upon its codification in 1906 who will remember when that station was Gillespie Road and the Arsenal was a place in Woolwich.

GonzoFlyingProducts · 14/03/2023 20:47

As no objections were raised I invoke KLAFF which will necessitate

WARREN STREET

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 14/03/2023 20:59

Very on trend with Easter just around the corner, Gonzo! In tribute to your seasonal savvy, Buckhurst Hill

DoneByWeds · 14/03/2023 21:19

I've spent the whole day searching through the second compendium of the 1856 navigational management code book for any recommendations regarding steps to take in light of strike action.

Could any of the more experienced players assist me as I'm concerned that I may get stranded if I head now to

Bethnal Green

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/03/2023 23:38

Enough of the false modesty, DoneByWeds. That move shows you are a far from inexperienced player and have lived through a tournament or two. No more shilly-shallying, it’s on to

Putney Bridge

OP posts:
TragicMuse · 15/03/2023 12:43

Ah, well played @DoneByWeds! Narrowly avoided a shunt into Sidings.

The strike protocol is blocking most of my moves, but on the diagonal I can just about make a play for Imperial Wharf.

It's tough, but someone had to!

LlynTegid · 15/03/2023 13:30

The walking interchange rule (via Battersea Park and Battersea Power Station station) gets us to Kennington.

HazelBite · 15/03/2023 15:21

I feel it's necessary to try and and calm the blatant near flouting of the 1906 rules here so Borough

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 15/03/2023 19:52

Invoking the overground protocol:

Clapham Junction

DuckonaBike · 15/03/2023 19:54

Woah, you people like to sail close to the wind don’t you? Steady on! Well done Hazel for bringing some moderation to the game.

<sucks teeth>
<consults Betjeman’s Annexe to the comprehensive rule book, 1953 edition>

Lambeth North

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 15/03/2023 20:01

I have grave misgivings about Betjeman’s Annexe. It was widely discredited because of its reprehensible advice concerning Slough. But on a more cheerful note:

Vauxhall

OP posts:
HazelBite · 15/03/2023 23:18

I actually saw Betjeman at Broadcasting House in 1975, he was reading some of his works he mentioned Croxley......need I say more?

LlynTegid · 16/03/2023 07:27

Using the curve only used once or twice a day I move to Rickmansworth. A place overlooked by Betjeman.

DuckonaBike · 16/03/2023 07:54

I know exactly where you mean LLyn. These esoteric pieces of local knowledge always add charm to the game of games.

Keeping with the Metroland theme, Harrow on the Hill

HazelBite · 16/03/2023 16:12

Oh I'm warming to it Chorleywood

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/03/2023 19:31

Let’s keep it arboreal:

Wood Green

OP posts:
HazelBite · 16/03/2023 19:34

Arboreal and Metroland!!

Northwood Hills

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 16/03/2023 19:34

If we see this through to the end we can claim extra points and a bonus surprise item I believe. What the heck, why don't we stay on to Amersham?

GonzoFlyingProducts · 16/03/2023 23:26

Amereham is bold, truly, but it does feature in the box set so via the Undulating Flange Valve procedure I believe I can pounce:

OXFORD CIRCUS !

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/03/2023 23:42

If it’s novelty and invention you’re seeking, let’s take a transverse demi-shunt to

London City Airport

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 17/03/2023 07:24

The DLR rule for perhaps the first time this game. So let's use it again, then the Elizabeth line one and get to Liverpool Street.

HazelBite · 17/03/2023 07:32

Liverpool Street is quite a bold move and the only way forward at this juncture is Aldgate

TragicMuse · 17/03/2023 13:36

I worked at the building site they became London City Airport. Looooong ago. And far away!

I am visiting the Smoke tomorrow. I might make my way to Goldhawk Road...

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 17/03/2023 20:17

All Goldhawks do not glitter
But if you seek for a bird in the dark
You may try for a move to East Finchley
But be prepared for Ravenscourt Park.
