To nobody’s surprise, the frantic pace of this latest game means that the last thread is full and (as far as I can see) <polishes lorgnette> we don’t yet have a successor. So, off we go with a Brunswick Lateral to

Russell Square

I'm inspired West Hampstead

MrsBunnyEars · 06/03/2023 21:16

Has anyone taken the Double Shuffle to Turnham Green yet?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/03/2023 21:34

Some very inspired play from our new players, if you are new players. Something about these recent moves puts me in mind of the semi-finals in Perpignan in ‘89, when the ‘novice’ player who triumphed with a daring reverse to Kings Cross was unmasked as the Rear Admiral’s dissolute brother, playing in contravention of a lifetime ban. But I digress:

LlynTegid · 07/03/2023 07:16

The Elizabeth line rule can now be used and get us to Whitechapel.

HazelBite · 07/03/2023 10:39

The Rear Admiral would be proud of me Ickenham !!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 07/03/2023 10:43

The Rear Admiral has much to be proud of, if we disregard that regrettable business in Dieppe in 2021.

Ahhh, The Rear-Admiral...I have kept my counsel for many years and will continue to do so until the statute of limitations ceases to apply. Then,^^ wait for the memoirs, they'll be fun!

Oval.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 07/03/2023 12:40

Yes, TragicMuse, I’m aware that you and the Rear Admiral have a (cough) lively (ahem) acquaintance going back very many years.

Balham

I’m very much looking forward to your memoirs, Tragic. I want to know what really happened in the infamous incident with the carp pond. Although I’m confident that the story about the helter skelter at Weston-super-Mare is just a malicious rumour.

Clapham Junction

LlynTegid · 08/03/2023 07:09

The London Overground rule to the rescue again, first time I think I have used it for two of my moves in a row. Not sure it was part of the 2014 tournament.

Willesden Junction.

SomethingOnce · 08/03/2023 10:54

I seem to recall the whole business was detailed in Total Carp magazine.

Turnpike Lane

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/03/2023 12:34

It’s widely suspected that Total Carp magazine is a front for the renegade faction of MC players who have never accepted the 1996 Addendum to the Compendium of Rules, Consolidated and Updated and so staged the carp pond incident as a distraction.

Yes, there were a few who wouldn’t stop carping about it.

Great Portland Street

AgathaMystery · 08/03/2023 22:41

I assume that’s permitted because we are Carolean but pre coronation?

No matter.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/03/2023 22:55

Gosh, the rules are being tested tonight. In this climate of anything goes, I shall attempt a treble reverse shunt to

I find post-brexit MC an adventure so using the Lord Stanley Johnson exemption of the international stations we land at

Hmm this is tough but I'm thinking Bounds Green

I think a move to Gloucester Road next. I was becoming concerned at one point yesterday that some of the rules first played in the 1960s were not being used, glad to see they have come back. All we now need is an appearance from the Major- any idea where he is?

HazelBite · 09/03/2023 10:26

The Major is probably here somewhere completely incognito (looks suspiciously around)
Channeling my inner BC here Northwood

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/03/2023 10:40

The last I heard, the Major was in an hotel in Eastbourne (having had to leave Weston-super-Mare because of that unfortunate episode) and was entertaining the dowagers with tales of his prowess in the game of games.
