Mornington Crescent rides again

To nobody’s surprise, the frantic pace of this latest game means that the last thread is full and (as far as I can see) <polishes lorgnette> we don’t yet have a successor. So, off we go with a Brunswick Lateral to

Russell Square

The DLR rule again!! Gallions Reach.

MarkWithaC · 31/10/2023 18:16

Carpenders Park (anterior).

HazelBite · 31/10/2023 18:43

This game is descending into chaos I need to get it all back "on track" so I will purposefully go to Queens Park

FinsburyCircus · 01/11/2023 08:34

Aha! That allows me to complete a full horizontal semiquaver all the way to

Mornington Crescent!

MarkWithaC · 01/11/2023 09:49

Oh, bravo, Finsbury! I didn't see that coming; I was flummoxed by the half-life state that previous move created. But I see now how you tangoed your way round it.

TragicMuse · 01/11/2023 10:23

Oh well done @FinsburyCircus! Excellent play!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/11/2023 12:23

Bravo! Thrilling to see such an audacious end to a long and strongly-contested game. Who’s going to start the next one?

OP posts:
DuckonaBike · 01/11/2023 20:46

What an exciting finish! Bravo Finsbury!
Try not to get too carried away celebrating though; we don’t want a repeat of what happened last time.

If I may, I’ll start the next game with an easy shunt to White City

MarkWithaC · 01/11/2023 20:52

Thank you, Duck. I’m going to sous-pavé us to Paddington, considering the percentages involved here.

FinsburyCircus · 01/11/2023 22:50

Thanks all, and appreciate the concern Duck... after footing the bill for two destroyed Monets and a vintage feather boa, I learnt my lesson the hard way after the Salzburg incident. 🙄

Very elegant Mark! I'm going to play one of my red chance cards which gets us to Wimbledon.

AgathaMystery · 01/11/2023 23:00

It’s almost midnight so to invoke Charterhouse Rules we need to move north of the river to Putney Bridge

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/11/2023 23:12

Au contraire. The only way is

Brixton

OP posts:
HazelBite · 02/11/2023 06:24

Okay I think we are due a move to Baker Street

ArthurbellaScott · 02/11/2023 06:31

Bloody hell, all these years, I've been playing it completely wrong!

LlynTegid · 02/11/2023 07:11

@FinsburyCircus well done.

Moving along the Circle line that is not a circle any more to Barbican.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 02/11/2023 10:04

ArthurbellaScott - Different doesn’t necessarily mean wrong. Why not participate in this new game and see how it goes?

Hyde Park Corner

OP posts:
ArthurbellaScott · 02/11/2023 10:16

That's an invitation I can't refuse. Although to be honest, you may live to regret it ...

Kinning Park.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 02/11/2023 10:22

Oh my. The Hibernian variant. I’m somewhat rusty here, but will revert to my old favourite, the longitudinal lunge to

Edinburgh Waverley

OP posts:
MarkWithaC · 02/11/2023 11:56

I applaud the adventurous spirit, but I've recently been studying materials from the archives and have been itching to play the Greenland Deviation, which means in this case we must return to London and I must say Lancaster Gate (I'm adding in the Fermat's Bicycle Law, obviously).

FinsburyCircus · 02/11/2023 12:54

Are we still accepting Herbert's Feint? I believe the Panel of Commissioners approved it before the 03 Toulon Tournament but the messaging has been confused since then.

If that comes into play, our next move is Marylebone * *

ArthurbellaScott · 02/11/2023 13:06

Bold move!

I'm going to go with an ambiguous one next, to hell with it - I did warn you. Let's throw the Battenberg rules to the wind:

Piccadilly.

LlynTegid · 02/11/2023 13:18

Incomplete station name rule comes into play so we are back at Marylebone.

Edgware Road (Bakerloo).

DuckonaBike · 02/11/2023 17:09

You’re a hard task mistress, Llyn (that’s a compliment by the way). In the circumstances I think I can use the overflow protocol to move to Temple.

MarkWithaC · 02/11/2023 18:30

Herbert's Feint is fine by me, as long as you don't combine it with an obtuse Gant.
I can see that a funicular has entered the picture, so I'm going to leave the more obvious and easier move and instead say Old Street. Just to avoid problems later on if there's a Widdershins.

FinsburyCircus · 03/11/2023 07:03

Rescued us there Mark, we'd have been in Nidd in 4 or 5 moves otherwise!

Now I was about to play a simple Barkham to Tottenham Court Road but I see the Northern Line (Bank branch) is out of play. I think we'd be best to double back and head for Cockfosters
