Mornington Crescent rides again

To nobody’s surprise, the frantic pace of this latest game means that the last thread is full and (as far as I can see) <polishes lorgnette> we don’t yet have a successor. So, off we go with a Brunswick Lateral to

Russell Square

Pasithean · 22/09/2023 11:53

Was just thinking this week that we haven’t had a game in yonks. Soooooo

Hounslow East.

TragicMuse · 22/09/2023 16:08

As the bee to the flower I am inexorably drawn to Bond Street, the Elizabeth line entrance.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/09/2023 17:56

Where the bee sucks, there suck I,
In a cowslip’s bell I lie.

So, inevitably (and as we’ve long since abandoned the rule against returns and repetitions):

Kew Gardens

@ComeIntoTheGardenMaud a move which would have required the bus replacement rule yesterday.

Using the London Overground rule gets me to Kensal Green.

DuckonaBike · 22/09/2023 22:03

Steady on there Lyn. That was dangerously close to a Reverse Hampton.

Tufnell Park

HazelBite · 23/09/2023 09:06

There's much use of the Overground rule here so in the spirit of continuity I'm going with Queens Park
( I did toy with Harrow and Wealdstone but felt it might complicate matters)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/09/2023 10:17

You’ll understand why:

Swiss Cottage

OP posts:
TragicMuse · 23/09/2023 13:07

Coincidentally , I was actually by Swiss Cottage this very morning!

The leafy environs of Hampstead call one home. For this is where I spent my childhood and have many fond rememberings of Louie's patisserie. #IYKYK

LlynTegid · 23/09/2023 13:22

I really have put the cat among the pigeons by using the London Overground rule.

So to avoid this I move to Angel.

TragicMuse · 25/09/2023 16:38

Angel, eh, Llyn? Iiiiinteresting.

I'm straight in with Euston Square.

Chat1354 · 25/09/2023 17:23

If you’ll all forgive a rather complicated move, I’ll narrowly avoid the inevitable here. I know, I know, I’m sure we all remember the mess this got us into in the spring of 1924 but we’re safe here owing to the bus replacement rule:

Bank

DuckonaBike · 25/09/2023 20:59

Goodness me yes, Chat1354, I’ve heard of that incident. Some people didn’t get out of Nidd until Michaelmas.

Farringdon

TragicMuse · 25/09/2023 22:51

Oh!

Elephant and Castle. Clearly.

LlynTegid · 26/09/2023 07:03

The 1924 mess would not have been too bad had it not followed on from the 1923 tournament where the question of the new uncompleted extensions of the Northern line vexed many, and a move to Colindale caused uproar.

Regents Park.

HazelBite · 26/09/2023 11:40

I can't think straight today so I'm just putting this out there Moor Park

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/09/2023 15:50

Hmm. I’m completely flummoxed. Whenever this happens, I go long haul to

Edinburgh Waverley

OP posts:
Chat1354 · 26/09/2023 23:06

I see that bold move, deftly utilising the Mornington Marker rule which I haven’t seen used in the game of games since that awful episode with Dr Clanville and his god-awful sherry shenanigans, puts me squarely in Nidd so I shall sit and drink my brandy in peace whilst you all get on with it. And not another word about that damned sherry.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/09/2023 10:17

So true, Chat1354. Dr Clanville was soon unmasked as a charlatan and the game of games travelling roadshow won’t be returning to Jerez any time soon.

Kings Cross

OP posts:
TragicMuse · 27/09/2023 14:06

Ooof. I'm putting him back in the box. No memories of Dr Clanville for me thank you very much. The night terrors are too much to deal with.

TragicMuse · 27/09/2023 14:07

Sent before adding my move.

Hyde Park Corner.

LlynTegid · 27/09/2023 21:10

Missing the move on a Wednesday is fortunately OK as agreed at the 1994 conference after the faux pas by the Colonel and his impassioned plea.

Gloucester Road

DuckonaBike · 28/09/2023 07:25

Absolutely, Lyn. I think justice was tempered with mercy on that occasion.

Hammersmith

TragicMuse · 28/09/2023 17:22

I am, indeed, fortunate to gain the beneficence of the Colonel's faux pas...

Hainault

HazelBite · 29/09/2023 01:11

For the sake of continuity Holborn

LlynTegid · 29/09/2023 07:24

Lancaster Gate, perhaps a simple move for a Friday but why not?
