Mornington Crescent rides again

To nobody’s surprise, the frantic pace of this latest game means that the last thread is full and (as far as I can see) <polishes lorgnette> we don’t yet have a successor. So, off we go with a Brunswick Lateral to

Russell Square

OP posts:
HazelBite · 07/09/2023 14:19

I don't want to go to Nidd so I'm going with Finsbury Park

LlynTegid · 07/09/2023 15:30

I think the Victoria line helps us avoid Nidd so off to Warren Street it is.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 12/09/2023 22:00

Please forgive my prolonged absence. I was unavoidably detained at the Savoy, where a casual session of the game of games in the American Bar became somewhat unruly after three cases of chartreuse and a reverse Molesworth on the Northern line. Still, everyone’s now been bailed and the interior decorators have replaced the chaises longues.

Stockwell

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 13/09/2023 11:15

Good job it was a move to Stockwell, allows a move to Victoria.

HazelBite · 13/09/2023 15:53

I've been thinking about my strategy and I think my best move is West Hampstead
(What a truly colourful life you lead Maud! I am indeed envious)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 13/09/2023 16:31

You’re too modest, HazelBite. You’ve been at many of the most renowned (or even notorious) events in the history of the game of games, but a lady never divulges another’s secrets and so I shall say no more.

After that very bold move, I shall attempt an obverse to

Dollis Hill

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 15/09/2023 07:03

Dollis Hill is not in Dollis Hill, something which has confused visitors over the years. So to avoid that confusion too long I move to Queensbury.

Chat1354 · 15/09/2023 09:26

Thanks to the revision of the Bradfordian rule in 1941 at the Reginald Uttley Gala, I’m not in as much as bind as I could’ve been here, so I make a deft move to Holland Park.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 15/09/2023 10:29

Nicely done, Chat1354! It’s a long time since Reginald Uttley’s name has been uttered in public. That business in Zurich at the 1955 festival of the game of games rather dented his reputation, but I pride myself on my broad-mindedness.

Sloane Square

OP posts:
DuckonaBike · 15/09/2023 21:15

You are indeed broad-minded, Maud. I appreciate your reticence concerning the recent shenanigans at the Savoy, and I’m particularly grateful that you turned a blind eye to the episode with the stuffed swordfish.

Russell Square

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 15/09/2023 22:01

Discretion, DuckOnABike, is my middle name.

Cannon Street

HazelBite · 16/09/2023 08:14

I've just had an inspirational thought whilst considering recent shenanigans Barbican

Chat1354 · 16/09/2023 15:52

We haven’t had a move as nifty as that @HazelBite since that fiasco at Lord Alcott’s manor, which I think we can all agree is best left at that. Terrible thing about the bearded dragon, but Lady Templeton being the sort she is of course did what she had to do and I think we all still agree it was for the best.

Baker Street

LlynTegid · 20/09/2023 06:45

I think that in time for a marmalade sandwich, a move to Paddington.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/09/2023 14:33

Marvellous. My thoughts were turning towards a late luncheon, although it’s the butler’s regular afternoon off (he was previously in the employ of Lord Alcott, but after that notorious incident he had to seek a less demanding post, where his need for ongoing trauma therapy could be accommodated). Anyway, for ease of access to the Ritz:

Green Park

OP posts:
HazelBite · 20/09/2023 15:19

Oh nice one Maud I can only counter withWestminster

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/09/2023 16:28

Oof! That was sneaky.

The outer reaches of the Central line speak of a bygone age and it seems strange to see the smallest Underground trains work their way there.

Loughton.

Chat1354 · 20/09/2023 17:26

You really are a devil with your sneaky moves, @LlynTegid. I think we should all be able to breathe again with a reverse pivot to

Waterloo

DuckonaBike · 21/09/2023 20:16

Well you had everyone stumped there for a bit Chat1354, but how about this

Peckham Rye

TragicMuse · 21/09/2023 23:03

Good evening chums. I have been recovering. More than that I cannot say. It's not the injunction but the short term memory loss. Still the good Herr Doktor says I am in with a fair chance of getting most of it back. In time.

Fortunately my memory for the Game of Games is unaffected. Though I am, apparently, fluent in Romanch. Never spoken a word before the incident. Now, as fluent as if I'd had a Swiss nanny.

Brains, eh? Tricky things...

Moorgate.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 21/09/2023 23:33

Good to see you again, TragicMuse. The Herr Doktor has helped so many players deal with the vicissitudes of life and the game of games. You are in good hands.

Debden

OP posts:
HazelBite · 21/09/2023 23:54

Brains are indeed tricky things! I spend far too long considering my next moves, and working out the best strategy, it must be my advanced years it takes a while, inspiration does not come easily.
So after much thought Watford (gateway to the North!)

LlynTegid · 22/09/2023 08:14

There are apparently heritage trains run between Watford and Amersham from time to time. So the use of the heritage trains rule takes me to Amersham.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/09/2023 11:49

For geographical balance, we must progress to the gateway to the south.
