Since when has M&S been so good for clothes?!

After years of being dragged round M&S with my gran and swearing I'd never ever shop there..... I now own a Per Una jacket Shock

I was given a voucher for Asos for Christmas, still haven't managed to spend it and instead my last 5 purchases have all been Markies.

Is this an advert? I thought the sex toy ones were bad enough.

scoobycute · 27/02/2023 20:41

100%

Had the discussion with my hairdresser recently...Are we getting old? Or has M&S got more stylish?!

lanternlantern · 27/02/2023 20:44

No, even worse, I bought my Per Una jacket myself.

I like their jeggings. They do an extra long length in them and their jeans.

FannyFifer · 27/02/2023 20:45

Does it not just mean you have got old.

Yep, the jeggings are really nice.

PRO TIP: wash them at 30 degrees, helps keep the colour.

I'm not old, I'm a young thing!

Perhaps it's just because you are getting older!

I live near one of the new Marks and Spencer's that sell food with a small clothing section and I like it too. I have never known where to start with a proper M&S, they are too overwhelming.

Authorisatingarchibald · 27/02/2023 20:47

It fantastic. Over the last couple of years I’ve bought almost everything from there. There’s still a lot of rubbish but there’s so many fantastic things there I probably couldn’t list everything I’ve bought

Housenoob · 27/02/2023 20:50

How old are you? Because I've admired a few things there lately and am horrified at myself lol. I'm 34.

PoorMrsNorris · 27/02/2023 20:51

I like the look of their new cargos but there were a lot of Nana types looking at them and it put me off! Plus my Mum will want to buy some too... 🙄

SeasonsBleatings · 27/02/2023 20:51

I've noticed the same. I'm sure I saw on here they brought in a brilliant new fashion buyer in the last year or two - can't remember who though!

lanternlantern · 27/02/2023 20:52

I'm 32. Completely swerved away from New Look, not even liking Zara as much.

xJoy · 27/02/2023 20:53

I'm 52, and I don't see much I like. I have lots of clothes though. Don't need any more shirts that are almost identical to what I already have.

ChilliBandit · 27/02/2023 20:53

I’m 33 and have also started buying more things from M&S, got a lovely cotton dress for the summer in the sale after Christmas.

TheFairyCaravan · 27/02/2023 20:54

I agree. Even my sons and their girlfriends, in their late twenties, are buying clothes from there atm.

They’ve gone from having nothing I’d buy to having absolutely loads that I want.

MissMarplesbag · 27/02/2023 20:54

So far I've bought a blazer, 2 pairs of wide leg trousers, ankle grazer trousers, leather chelsea boots and jeans. All good quality and classic in style and colour so will be appropriate for all seasons.

Boogismyname · 27/02/2023 20:55

I swear by their bras and thermal tights and leggings but that's all I'll buy.

Boogismyname · 27/02/2023 20:56

I've heard their 'good move' fitness range is good but I've never bought it
because I don't exercise enough

SnowAndFrostOutside · 27/02/2023 20:57

I’m late 40s and I like it. I guess I am old enough to be their target customer?

SnowAndFrostOutside · 27/02/2023 20:58

@Boogismyname i have a couple of good move tops and leggings. Got some on its way for DH too. They are very good.

MrsMoastyToasty · 27/02/2023 20:58

I'm mid 50s and even with staff discount (DH works for them) I struggle to buy anything from them as this sweaty menopausal being doesn't want to be clothed on artificial fibres.

Twopoodlesarebetterthanone · 27/02/2023 21:00

Yep me too. I have never bought their clothes before autumn last year and I now have 5 pairs of jeggings and a dress.

DarkOphelia · 27/02/2023 21:00

After years of not buying underwear there, I've started buying bras again. They now do bravissimo style sizes, and I've picked up 30FFs in store for a very reasonable price.

The knitwear colours are still a bit weird though.

TheMousePipes · 27/02/2023 21:02

My new jeans are Autograph, I get loads of compliments on them and the material is so soft and comfortable.
