Just that really. What inexpensive thing would perk you up? Feeling a bit joyless at the moment.

2 friends have called round and I now have 2 cheerful bunches of my favourite tulips 🌷
Lovely now walking into the kitchen.

Little things I enjoy include a hot bath, with bath products especially if the house is quiet / teenagers are out etc. a new nail polish also cheers me up. Nails inc is my fav. A new candle also nice. I love the smell of lilies too so a bunch of them would cheer me up.
Also love live music so if can afford a night out that’s my go to…. Nothing like some hard core rock to blow the cobwebs away. Even if you can just sip on a couple of drinks for the evening.
A trip to the beach or forest for a walk always cheers me up (provided the weather is settled).
watching something in bed snuggled under my weighted blanket with Dh and some crisps is pretty awesome too.
I love charity shop browsing and making cocktails too (appreciate you need the Ingredients first).
A bit of light touch personal grooming cheers me up too, makes me feel like I’m looking after myself, think face mask, hair removal etc.

my dd suffers from anxiety and some of the things she does to get into a positive frame of mind include de-cluttering her room, Netflix, reading a book, her laying on her bed (silk sheets / pillows) and baking cookies. A tub of her favourite Pringles also helps.

A lovely cup of Assam Tea made with tea leaves, some Cadbury chocolate and Paramount+. I stream my tv and it was a real treat to subscribe for all the Trek shows as I’m a huge fan.

A bunch of daffs

A text message from my brother or cousins

A chocolate eclair

A craft magazine

Free things would be, lazing in the bath (well the hot water isnt free, but ykwim) lazing on the sofa playing a word game on my phone, cleaning the house, I love sitting down after a full house blitz. Watching one of my favourite movies, Freedom writers, beaches, pursuit to happiness, the fugitive, the help. I literally watch the fugitive once a month. Its amazing.
Love a good book!

Cheap, a large bar of dairy milk whole nut, a tube of mini eggs, a bug bag of chocolate peanuts whilst watching The Middle, Judge judy or The Apprentice or GordonRamsay kitchen nightmares.
A meal at the Asian buffet restaurant. Mind you, when it was just me and hubby we would go and have a great lunch for £12 together donkeys years ago. Now with 6 quid it's over 70 to dine in, but 35 for takeout. And that way we can go home and watch Annie the 2014 one or Zootopia or jumanji whilst enjoy veggie spring rolls and satay skewers.
Also love a heritage museum local to me that is set up like an old village and it's just fab for £32 for us all and under 5s get in free. So that's my younger kids sorted.
Love to treat myself to even just a £1 candle or some cheap body spray if in somewhere like Wilkinson, asda or the Range.
Love Ben and Jerry's
Love a trip to the garden centre. Rarely buy plants but love to look at them. Only a few quid in petrol and the kids like to look at the pets section and the large outdoor bit with all the fish.
Love a mooch round charity shops collecting books, old mcdonald style figures and toys from the happy meal back in the day!.....

And breathe

A wank followed by an afternoon nap?

mrsbyers · 25/02/2023 21:50

Tulips or daffs

DrHousecuredme · 25/02/2023 22:06

Right this moment, a hug... which is free!

whatausername · 06/03/2023 17:09

I mentioned I was struggling to find joy at the moment. I've not "cured" the problem but I did have some happiness this afternoon. Took a break from something I was working on and sat in the sun sniffing perfume discovery sets and listening to new music. Genuinely felt happy.

A toffee crisp. Or a red velvet cupcake. Or listen to Glitterbox podcast and relive the clubbing mania of my youth!

SweetPetrichor · 06/03/2023 17:40

A bag of foamy shrimps and bananas.
