Just that really. What inexpensive thing would perk you up? Feeling a bit joyless at the moment.

OP posts:

Bunch of tulips in a prominent place in the kitchen. I treat myself to a bunch each week now they are coming into season 🌷

Also I just bought some winter pansies for my mum, the large colourful ones and potted them up for her next to her front door. They were 90p from my local greengrocer.

Whyisitsososohard · 25/02/2023 09:19

Doing some craft. I have so many supplies in but you can pic up a kit cheaply in various mediums.

Or a walk stopping in at my fave bakery.

A day in with my fave comfort show.

Doing some planning for the year

amberedover · 25/02/2023 09:22

Lovely smelling soap.
Good book .

Mybumlooksbig · 25/02/2023 09:24

Daffodils, original.source shower gel, cadburys dairy milk, a cuppa

TheYearOfSmallThings · 25/02/2023 09:26

Daffodils or tulips
Clean bouncy hair
A bit of tinted moisturiser and pink lip balm
Wear a bright sweater
Put on a springlike perfume
Tidy up and open windows
Contact a few friends or family (even just a WhatsApp to say hi, how are you doing?)
Go somewhere new - even just half an hour on the train
Go for a good brisk walk, ideally near big water but anywhere will do
Cook something new
Read or watch something old that you know you will like, but only do this after the big walk
Plan something - or a few things - to look forward to. Doesn't have to be big, invite a friend for coffee, order a few books from the library, find out what's on in your area - some will be cheap/free, maybe plan a short trip at Easter, if only to visit someone.

thirdistheonewiththehairychest · 25/02/2023 09:29

A new paperback book

Girasoli · 25/02/2023 09:30

New pjamas and a new kindle book
Some storage boxes (I always feel better after reorganising)

fridaynightpubes · 25/02/2023 09:37

Think thread has been a lovely treat this morning. I've made myself a list of little pick me ups for when I feel wobbly. Thank you.

Mammyloveswine · 25/02/2023 09:39

I'd go to the works and choose 3 books for £6 then take myself off to a cosy pub and have a nice glass of red wine and start reading one of them!

Or id listen to a lighthearted podcast on a nice walk along the coast then get some fish and chips!

DysonBison · 25/02/2023 09:41

Second the Spotify karaoke suggestion (empty house first)

JL642 · 25/02/2023 09:42

OP this post has made me feel nice and relaxed 😊

IHateFlies · 25/02/2023 09:49

Walk in nature somewhere. I love wonderful scenery but woodlands or a park is lovely too.
Walk with a friend
Going into a library, choosing a book, reading a few chapters then checking it out.
Hugging my dc
Doing something that needs to be done. That sounds really dull but I get a sense of achievement from being productive.

Having a clean house. It's so nice to have a relaxing environment. I know people scoff at candles and cushions and twiggy things etc but it's so nice to just sit in a tidy home with a scented candle, a nice cup of coffee and watch some tv that's going to make me feel good.

Goldpanther · 25/02/2023 09:51

Going for a walk with a coffee/tea and seeing all the new buds and shoots on the plants around me.

I love spotting all the new iris, crocus and snowdrops coming out this time of year. Makes me feel optimistic for what's to come.

GuyFawkesDay · 25/02/2023 09:53

Bunch of daffs
Walk with the dog somewhere like the local woods. Take some time to stop and listen to the birds. Use birdnet app to identify the birdsong. Find some lovely signs of spring.
Long bath with bubble bath (I like Waitrose essentials chamomile which is cheap and lovely). Slather in moisturiser I already own.
Clean PJs and fresh sheets for bed

OhNoNotThatAgain · 25/02/2023 09:54

Daffodils appear to be the winner at the moment OP.

I wouldn't turn down the idea of a bar of chocolate either. Chocolate has a number of chemicals in it which are known to improve mood.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 25/02/2023 10:08

A multi-million pound lottery win - it would only cost £2.

AutumnOcean · 25/02/2023 10:12

A nice chocolate bar eaten really slowly

quietnightmare · 25/02/2023 10:17

Bake some 3 ingredient cup cakes

Go to the charity shop and get a new book

Buy some shloer or similar and frozen fruit put it in a fancy glass and drink it on the sofa in the middle of the day

Paint your nails yourself

Chips from the chip shop for lunch.. why not

Clear out your closet and drop to the charity shop then treat yourself to said book

Get in the bath with a film on iPad/phone

Start writing a book

In the charity shop could look for an embroidery set and get that on the go

Paint something - picture, photo frame whatever

Make a card for someone's birthday coming up

Do all the above

LadyOfTheCanyon · 25/02/2023 10:20

New lipstick every time!

redundantsoon · 25/02/2023 10:23

OxanaVorontsova · 25/02/2023 04:55

A bunch of daffodils for £1
A walk in the hills or at the coast
A new book on kindle

All of these plus

a cup of tea and several (a pack?) shortbread biscuits!

Highlighta · 25/02/2023 10:24

I live near a flower market, so if I am close by and have some time, I love to just wander in there and take in all the smells. It is such a calming experience for me.

I rarely leave without buying myself a cheap bunch of whatever is in season, which in itself cheers me up.

Definitelycross · 25/02/2023 10:28

JL642 · 25/02/2023 09:42

OP this post has made me feel nice and relaxed 😊

Me too 🥰

bluechameleon · 25/02/2023 10:33

A good long walk somewhere beautiful. A bunch of cheerful flowers. An hour or two to stroll around a gallery or museum without children to wrangle. A glass of wine with a friend. An early morning swim. A cream cake. A trip to the coast - we live about as far as you can get in the UK from the coast and it just fills me with joy to smell the salt and feel the wind on my face.

thismeansnothing · 25/02/2023 10:34

A nice coffee and cake in a nice cafe

TheChosenTwo · 25/02/2023 10:38

A new book and painting my nails always give me a little pick me up.
That and also weirdly, clearing something out in my house! I’m not a neat freak although I do like (and mostly have) a tidy home, but there are always little areas of things that could be streamlined, it’s such a nice feeling and even better if it can leave my house and be donated elsewhere.
