What's cheap and would cheer you up?

Just that really. What inexpensive thing would perk you up? Feeling a bit joyless at the moment.

For me it's growing things. At this time of year a few packets of seeds, some compost and yogurt pots and toilet rolls to plant them in. Seed packets = little packets of hope.

Bunch of daffodils

ChilliPanda · 25/02/2023 07:33

Find a funny podcast and put head phones on whilst baking a cake for the family 💕

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 25/02/2023 07:42

A nice bath, clean pyjamas, light some nice candles, a hot cuppa and then either read or watch something interesting.

Jujuj · 25/02/2023 08:04

Forest or coastal walk on a nice day

Plantmoretrees86 · 25/02/2023 08:08

Bunch of daffodils/tulips
A long soak in the bath
A walk
Yoga
Tea and cake
Fresh sheets on the bed

ifonly4 · 25/02/2023 08:15

We enjoy going for a walk locally - times when we've taken a sandwich (doesn't have to be a massive picnic) and sat on a bench (either in park or on hill) just watching the world go by (people, birds, squirrels, change of scenery), really uplifts us and also gets us out of house for a couple of hours

Artisticpaint · 25/02/2023 08:16

An empty house for the day.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 25/02/2023 08:18

Flat white and a really good pastry
An hour laying down reading my book
Walk in the woods with my favourite music

ifonly4 · 25/02/2023 08:20

OP, just read you're looking to get your old self back. DD became a counsellor a few years ago, and since then (I guess something in training) he's started to appreciate things a lot more in life. Me, our home (nothing special, but we do have one), the little things we can do together. When out walking, we do have a good chat but he regularly stops just to take things in, might be flowers, an unusual tree, the view, birds tweeting etc.

Hope some of the suggestions give you inspiration. Try one today.

And not immediate, but cheap on the day tickets to a play or concert. Not west end prices, but local theatres and concert halls often have on the day, standing, or other discounted tickets in the £10-20 bracket.

QuitChewingMyPlectrum · 25/02/2023 08:22

Sunshine - think I may be solar powered 🤦🏻‍♀️
Failing that, a good book.

FusionChefGeoff · 25/02/2023 08:23

A bunch of daffodils, a coffee and a reeeeallllu good pastry sat in a cafe people watching / reading my book followed by a long walk in nature.

Chewbecca · 25/02/2023 08:24

A jigsaw - preferably from a charity shop
Plant some veg seeds - radishes would be good, they come up so quickly.

CleaningOutMyCloset · 25/02/2023 08:31

A couple of bunches of daffodils from the supermarket

A box set and a few chocolate treats and a bottle of pop

Bottle of Prosecco and a decent film

A potter around in my garden

A few cheapo plants from the supermarket

Walk the dog somewhere nice. Then tea and cake in a cafe

Trip to the cinema

Drive in my car with the radio blaring

Download a cheesy romantic book on my kindle and the time to read it alone

(No wonder I'm overweight)

floraflo · 25/02/2023 08:36

Getting my nails done always cheers me up and makes me feel good every time I see them. Also getting my car washed! And as people have already mentioned, a bunch of flowers and fresh bedding too.
Hope some of the suggestions work for you op.

I did both the nails and the car wash yesterday, and you're right. It did cheer me up no end

ChilliPanda · 25/02/2023 08:56

Can anyone recommend a comfortable, light camping chair ? Getting older and the cheaper ones not as comfortable Tia

We moved to a new house last summer so it's our first early spring here and we have little bunches of mini daffodils popping up in the borders which makes me smile every morning Smile

NotRightNowNo · 25/02/2023 09:09

Being outside surrounded by wide open spaces, trees and lovely views

Greatly · 25/02/2023 09:11

Lidl tulips (2.25)
A cup of buttermint tea made for me by someone else
Listening to lovely music
Talking to my dog

AltheaVestr1t · 25/02/2023 09:11

A bunch of daffs always cheers me up, but even better are the tiny tete-a-tete in pots. I absolutely love those!

VoluntaryWing · 25/02/2023 09:13

Radio up full blast (ask Alexa for happy music)
blitz clean the house
Buy bunch of daffs and nice bung in the oven dinner for this evening
ring a friend and see if they can go for a walk this afternoon or just get yourself out somewhere pretty
come home for a bubble bath
eat dinner
early night in clean house and clean sheets
tomorrow is a different day and the daffs will be open

AdaColeman · 25/02/2023 09:14
