Just that really. What inexpensive thing would perk you up? Feeling a bit joyless at the moment.

A bag of King Edward spuds
A new library book
Browse in charity shops
See a friend for a walk

Favouritefruits · 25/02/2023 11:04

Lindt Lindor, just the tiny 4pk or I’d end up eating a full box!

familyissues12345 · 25/02/2023 11:07

A bunch of tulips or even cheaper, daffodils

mamaduckbone · 25/02/2023 11:10

A new book.
A walk somewhere pretty.
A good cup of coffee.
A long soak in the bath with some nice bubbles.
Any or all of the above!

Stressybetty · 25/02/2023 11:11

At this moment a really nice cup of tea.

TellSomeoneElse · 25/02/2023 11:12

Oh bless you op, I’m sorry you’re feeling so flat and do hope that you find joy in one of the suggestions on this thread.
for me it would be;
baking a nice simple Victoria sponge with fresh cream and plenty of jam
a walk along the coast, preferably in a good bracing wind
buying myself a bunch of tulips or daffodils
fresh sheets on the bed after a good long shower, scrub shave moisturise all that.
a nice smelling candle
A hot chocolate with a splash of baileys, curl up in the armchair with a good book (probably one I’ve read and loved before, pride and prejudice, gone with the wind, lord of the rings, something like that)

Pomtiddly · 25/02/2023 12:34

Bob Mortimer always cheers me up. Listen to him read his autobiography "and away" on Audible or watch clips of him on Would I Lie To You on YouTube
Preferably whilst having a picnic in bed..

This thread has such a cosy feeling now with all these lovely replies :-)

A book from the 2nd hand bookshop, some chips from the chippy. Ideally eaten in the sun while I read my book.

Chewbecca · 25/02/2023 14:59

I bought a £1 bunch of daffs and baked a cake today on the back of this thread!
Hope your day has gone well for you whata.

NeedWineNow · 25/02/2023 15:10

A box of Maltesers in front of a good film/tv series
A potter round our local charity shops. Maybe pick up a bargain or a couple of books
A new nail polish (can recommend Nail Polish Direct for bargains)
Having a sort out at home. Love having a turn out, it clears my mind somehow.
meeting a friend for coffee and cake
A bunch of spring flowers - daffs and/or tulips

I bought some sparkly nail varnish the other day and it makes me so happy. I haven't worn it for years because my nails are all bitten but actually having it on made my nails feel wrong to bite and reminded me not to!

I'm going to buy some perfume next, when I get more than 2 seconds to look at them before a toddler bolts away. Just a cheap one but something I like the smell of.

@BertieBotts

If you're looking for cheap perfume, the Superdrug artiscent atelier range are very good copies of a few popular mainstream scents. They're about £10-12 and the 'Exotique Musk' one is a great dupe for Tom Ford's Santal Blush.

They don't last amazingly well but they smell good for the money!

I'm sitting at my dining room table looking at the little dents and ink/paint marks that show its longevity...doing a jigsaw puzzle, looking out on a tiny overgrown patch of garden... full of life, the blackbirds are nesting in the ivy, the little birds are twittering away at the bird feeder, and there are even a couple of fat fuzzy bees buzzing around. A lovely day...

I am 5 years post-heart attack.

Life is good.

Redlorryyellowlorryblue · 25/02/2023 15:26

A walk in the woods listening to a podcast - free

Hot bubble bath and a good book.

Buying a new nail varnish.

NeedWineNow · 25/02/2023 15:26

Adding to my earlier post, a warm mug of Bovril. DH has just made us a mug each at half time in the rugby ( he's watching the game and I'm reading MN on my tablet). It's come over very dark here but we are warm and comfy.

YorkieTheRabbit · 25/02/2023 15:52

I bought some lovely tulips from the co-op, they’re still going strong over two weeks later, £3
I usually bake all our cakes but occasionally buy M&S custard choux buns, delicious
Good walk, preferably somewhere near water so I can see ducks and swans
A long soak in the bath

Yellowdays · 25/02/2023 15:53

Weekend lunch by the sea.

Soccermumamir · 25/02/2023 16:03

A cup of coffee and a good book 🙂

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 25/02/2023 16:18

A frozen apple strudel and a tin of custard

Veryfaraway · 25/02/2023 16:22

A bunch of daffodils, some millionaires shortbread and Yellowstone on telly.

PermanentTemporary · 25/02/2023 16:22

A baked potato, done properly in the oven, just with butter.
A hot bath.
Dp and I walked by the sea today - we don't live here so not free, but the walking was hilly and really blew the cobwebs away.
An early night (in every sense Blush)

Judellie · 25/02/2023 16:23

What a lovely thread. I was really fed up this morning too, bad head and no joy. So instead of a full day cleaning, I met my friends for coffee, messaged my other friends to see what they were up to, took the kids out for lunch and a bit of shopping and I've just had a coffee and a small Easter egg before I head out on a walk with my son.
I also used to like to go to the garden centre and wander amongst the plants as it mad eye feel so much better but not done that for ages and in fact had forgotten about that one.
I didn't find a new book anywhere but my friend gave me some 'Easy Piano Music' and I feel motivated enough now to see how I get on with them instead of not even trying!

YorkieTheRabbit · 25/02/2023 16:32

@BeyondMyWits aren’t they just 😂
