My absolute favourite lunch that I really look forward to, is corn thins (like rice cakes) with cottage cheese on. I could eat tonnes of it! On the cottage cheese subject, I witnessed my DM mixing in orange segments to hers on a salad the other day. Odd.

• butter on crackers. Or digestives.
• tinned sardines in tomato sauce on brown toast
• cold leftover bolognese in a white bread sandwich with butter. Also works for leftover lasagne. Delicious!

Banana sandwich

Not had this in years, it was the after school snack mum usually gave us. This or bread and butter fingers to dunk into strawberry yoghurt or buttered weetabix.

A Polish speciality called bigos: sauerkraut with Polish sausage, meaty leftovers, mushrooms, onions and garlic. It’s an acquired taste and those not familiar with the food traditions of Poland, Germany and eastern France (I think this is not dissimilar to ‘choucroute’) tend to find the cabbagey smell a bit strong.

A meal my dad used to make us that we call chicken supreme. Chunks of chicken cooked and covered in half a tin of Bachelors condensed chicken soup, half a tin of Bachelors condensed mushroom soup (yes it has to be Bachelors), a splash of milk and loads of pasta. I could eat it all day. It's so comforting!

This. I add mushrooms, diced pancetta and a tiny bit of marmite, it's quite a forgiving recipe. Watch it doesn't catch on the bottom, it needs stirring every so often

Salted porridge left to go cold and very thick. I also eat the skin of custard and hot milk and everyone is all horrified 😊

Yes please! Add a slice of plastic cheese and it's a la carte.

Spam, cut into long strips, the width/size of a pencil. Fried till all caramelised, then dipped into a soft boiled egg!
