Meals or food you love that to everyone else are completely boring/horrible

My absolute favourite lunch that I really look forward to, is corn thins (like rice cakes) with cottage cheese on. I could eat tonnes of it! On the cottage cheese subject, I witnessed my DM mixing in orange segments to hers on a salad the other day. Odd.

Crisp sandwich on really crappy white bread

My last message was in response to this.

White bread (preferably door stops) toast, plenty of butter and beans. It reminds me of my DF. His response to most things was "beans on toast?".

Also jacket potatoes done in the oven, my DF would do this sometimes quite late at night and wake me to have them!

Heinz tomato soup is just wonderful!

Noodles in buttered bread.
A wrap with dairylea cheese spread and pawn cocktail crisps inside. 🙈

Liver. But it has to be lamb's liver, rolled in seasoned flour and gently fried for a few minutes, not ox liver braised for an hour, school-dinners style.

Cold Cristy bacon in a white bread sandwich with too much butter

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 15/02/2023 14:02

Marmite spaghetti.

TerrysGotPeeves · 15/02/2023 14:07

Oh I love threads like this. My favourite boring/basic meals that I find so very comforting are:
Sausage, beans and mashed potatoes
Potatoes and turnip mashed up together with loads of butter, milk, and white pepper
Pork chop, tinned peas, and mashed potatoes
Mashed potatoes with parsley sauce instead of milk (yes there's a recurring theme here 😂)
Chicken super noodles on heavily buttered white bread

I promise I eat real food most of the time 😅

LaurieFairyCake · 15/02/2023 14:08

We eat baked potato, beans and grated cheddar twice a week

Mmm, but it has to be cheese and onion Tayto or Kings 😉

mathanxiety · 15/02/2023 14:24

Marmite, obv.
Sardines on toast.
Broccoli salad.

GlassBunion · 15/02/2023 14:44

Unequivocally King crisps. Good day to you 😎

@RiverSkater black pudding uncooked?! 😲

ApolloandDaphne · 15/02/2023 14:54

Whole baby beetroot picked in sweet vinegar straight from the jar. Lovely.

mickandrorty · 15/02/2023 15:00

Ready salted crisps with 2 dairylea triangles to scoop with
Which bread butter and Sugar sandwiches

PositiveLife · 15/02/2023 15:08

Cottage Pie. The kids hate it and I can't often be arsed making it just for me.
Beef Stew/hot pot type of thing. The kids also hate these.

Season0fTheWitch · 15/02/2023 16:13

I eat sweetcorn from the tin, could easily eat a tin a day if not more. Also packets of flavoured microwave rice

Icantfindanewname · 15/02/2023 16:26

Medium sliced wholemeal bread sandwich filled with mashed ripe banana and accompanied by Walkers salt and vinegar crisps. Has to be Walkers for this to work.

Ox liver fried in lard, served with boiled new potatoes with the cooking lard poured over. And tinned marrowfat peas - for the health aspect, obviously 😋

Oblomov23 · 15/02/2023 16:41

I like strong tasting things. Very tart and sour. Stilton. Fiery beetroot. Roasted Cauliflower. Chilli flakes on most things. Chipotle Mayo.

onwardandupwards · 15/02/2023 16:46

Tinned pears with tinned evaporated milk

MudLady · 15/02/2023 16:47

Rice, plain in a bowl with just salt & pepper. Occasionally I jazz it up with some kimchi or a chopped tomato.
Almost any pickles straight out of the jar. Not pickled eggs though, they're an abomination.

pizzaHeart · 15/02/2023 16:55

Butter and Apricot conserve all warm and melty on thick white toasted bread
I love it and it should be Bonne maman apricot conserve for me.
My favourite lunch on my own is warm white pita toasted twice, spread inside with butter and generously filled with grated extra mature cheddar. Pure joy!

Liver and bacon . If I ever have an evening alone I have m&s liver and bacon ready meal.
Also corned beef slices up with a dollop of branston . Noti g else needed with it.

Are you me? I like just a spoon of Branston at any time. I can also happily eat a whole tub of coleslaw by itself. The one that everyone else in my family turns their nose up at is sardines on toast.
