If you won the EuroMillions, what would be the first thing you'd actually go out and buy?

As per title, imagine you've somehow suddenly just come into a huge amount of money. What would be the first thing you'd go out and buy? Not talking about houses, cars etc. as all that will come with time. Also assuming that you are going to donate a healthy portion to charity and those you know who need it. I mean the first thing you're actually going to leave the house and spend money on for yourself?

I would go to the nearest nice department store and buy every permutation of the Chanel perfume products so all the soap, body creams, talc, sprays etc. and a big bottle of each eau de parfum. Would probably buy a nice bottle of champagne too but still be too scared to buy Cristal or the like!

I’ve been so inspired I’ve just bought a euro lottery ticket, first in a long time 😁🤞

I've actually never bought one - maybe this is the week 🤔

Craftybodger · 08/02/2023 14:43

It would start with a slap up Chinese meal.
Then a trip to John Lewis for the latest Apple tech for me and my DC, then upstairs for state of the art airthreading overlocker, coverstitch and sewing machines and a pile of fabric!
I would go home, turn up the heating and spend the evening booking theatre tickets and several holidays - to our fav beach, further afield and the far east.

The next day I would go car shopping!

(These are the selfish bits, there would be more charitable, friends and wider family things happening too, but they might take more time to be considered.)

Grigorisangel · 08/02/2023 14:52

I fall asleep each night planning what to spend my winnings on 😂
I think the very first thing I would do is go with ds’s to the Apple Store and let them pick new tech.
Long term would be a nice but not too big house although I would only want 4 bedrooms I would also want a laundry room and reading nook.
I would hand in my notice at work, do the masters I am looking at doing from October without the pressure of working and purely for pleasure then I would spend my days going to the gym, learning new skills, helping out at a local cat shelter and having holidays every school holiday.
I really should play the lottery more as you can’t win if you don’t buy a ticket

Pedallleur · 08/02/2023 15:00

first class airline tickets somewhere

CeriB82 · 08/02/2023 16:15

A car. I have a nice big house with land.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 08/02/2023 16:18

A takeaway with lots of sides I don’t normally go for.

Alighttouchonthetiller · 08/02/2023 16:35

Bottle of champagne and a tube of Pringles, which I would consume at the kitchen table whilst buying new clothes online.

Alighttouchonthetiller · 08/02/2023 16:36

And I'd put the heating on, full blast.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 08/02/2023 16:52

Also this Harry Potter crockery set. And all the deluxe editions of the Jim Kay illustrated editions of the HP books. And HP studio tour tickets, possibly some sort of VIP package if they do such things. And first class plane tickets to New York with a limo from the airport to a very fancy hotel, so I could go to the Harry Potter New York store and buy everything. 😊

If you won the EuroMillions, what would be the first thing you'd actually go out and buy?
CarPoor · 08/02/2023 16:53

The very first thing I'd buy is the fanciest bottle of champagne I can find in waitrose, I'd buy 2 and a bottle of wine. And any nibbles I fancy.

I'd go into the local florist and buy the biggest bunch of flowers for every room in the house.

I'd then spend the evening drinking champagne and eating charcuterie and celebrating with DH. We might get a takeaway

I'd book a facial, nails and brows at my local salon. Get my hair done. The next day I'd go into rmy local department store and buy all the skincare, perfume and make up

I'd also book a deepclean of my house and take my car to be valetted.

Then obviously comes a holiday and shopping spree. But these things take time. The above are immediate improvements to my life.

In the long run I'd buy a new house, a car for me and DH etc etc. But first I think I'd go travelling. Take a year out and just visit the whole world go and see friends in other countries.

Would I have to work out my notice period at work?

SinnerBoy · 08/02/2023 16:54

I feel quite humbled by all the people who'd just put their heating on.

butterfliedtwo · 08/02/2023 16:56

My parents house (pay the mortgage) so they don't have to worry about it anymore.

butterfliedtwo · 08/02/2023 16:57

It would be for myself too, as I worry about them.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 08/02/2023 17:03

As a result of this thread I've just bought my first lottery ticket in an age. I am so easily influenced.

tedgran · 08/02/2023 17:12

A new car with a heater that bloody works!

FortheBeautyoftheEarth · 08/02/2023 17:12

Private medical tests. Very exciting.

AllOfThemWitches · 08/02/2023 17:16

I'd probably get pissed

Florissant · 08/02/2023 17:20

The very first thing would be a takeaway to eat while booking a holiday.

Beezknees · 08/02/2023 17:22

Go to the supermarket and buy a load of nice food and drink to enjoy. Then a Gucci handbag.

Theconceptoftime · 08/02/2023 18:01

I don't think I would actually buy anything. I'm not very materialistic. I would probably feel just quite odd and anxious and carry on like it didn't exist for a while until I got my head around it. Plus, other than a house which I can't choose nothing would seem worth buying. Nothing would bring people into my life that get me. Nothing would get rid of the awful relationships I have to put up with. Nothing else really matters huh?! Really not bothered about living on the cheap other than the house.

Headstones250 · 08/02/2023 18:07

Some printer ink to allow me to print a resignation letter from a job that I hate!

Catastrophejane · 08/02/2023 18:11

I’d go straight to whole foods and buy a bottle of champagne, a huge wedge of truffle Brie and those Parmesan crisps.

I’d then buy a copy of Vogue and a marker to circle all the things I’m going to buy while scoffing my whole foods feast.

yellowhedges · 08/02/2023 18:13

Would book a month in The Maldives and consider all my options whilst there.

LibertyLily · 08/02/2023 18:14

My first thought was to buy back my dream house which we sold in order to downsize five years ago. It was a stupid decision to sell as we had no mortgage (still don't, thankfully!) and there's not been a day gone by that I don't regret the decision....

But if I can't buy a house, it would be a day shopping in Liberty (mostly furniture/decorative objects not clothes etc, although I've a weakness for a Liberty handbag), a Grayson Perry vase and something nice for DH who deserves a treat or three. Then perhaps a holiday as we've not had one since 2015 - would be a road trip round the US probably or a tour of Italy taking in all the galleries/art etc.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 08/02/2023 18:31

Hire a decorator to finish the last jobs on my house (refurb, 6 years and counting I think) and book the holidays we're looking at but with the more expensive flight from a local airport instead of having to go to bloody Birmingham for an affordable flight.
