If you won the EuroMillions, what would be the first thing you'd actually go out and buy?

As per title, imagine you've somehow suddenly just come into a huge amount of money. What would be the first thing you'd go out and buy? Not talking about houses, cars etc. as all that will come with time. Also assuming that you are going to donate a healthy portion to charity and those you know who need it. I mean the first thing you're actually going to leave the house and spend money on for yourself?

I would go to the nearest nice department store and buy every permutation of the Chanel perfume products so all the soap, body creams, talc, sprays etc. and a big bottle of each eau de parfum. Would probably buy a nice bottle of champagne too but still be too scared to buy Cristal or the like!

Roaring at "fanny tuck". May it be beautiful and expensive.

I read it as ‘fanny fuck’. Well that’s one way to spend your winnings I guess!

Stressybetty · 08/02/2023 13:53

Think the first thing I'd do once the money was in my account is pay mine and DH's loans and cards off. Then a quick trip out to buy a nice champagne and something for dinner. Then home to put my notice in at work and start looking for a new house online.

purser25 · 08/02/2023 13:53

Would save it until I can get a nice house would give a large sum to friends who are in a very difficult situation.

I’d take my dad to to buy whatever painting he wanted that was within travelling distance. Although he’d probably frogmarch me to an IFA even before I could do that! Then I’d go to an upmarket travel agent and just start booking stuff. Houses and cars for all of us would come, but my favourite bit of the fantasy is always taking my dad to buy a painting on day one. I never buy a lottery ticket, though, so it’s a long shot really.

There's a place in Bath that does a 'Reading Spa' where you go and meet a book personal shopper, have tea and cake whilst they source all the books they think you'd like... heaven.

Adds to birthday wish list .... I'd LOVE that!

SunsetStrip · 08/02/2023 14:03

It'd probably have 4 wheels, it wouldn't be for me though, it'd be for dh so he'd be distracted when I go on a veritable rampage of buying property.

WedonttalkaboutMaureen · 08/02/2023 14:08

I'd go for a lovely meal to celebrate at a posh restaurant near us with the family. I don't drink but I'd send my bestie abroad a bottle of fab champagne so she could try to guess what had happened.

Then I'd book a weekend at a gorgeous hotel with spa, book all the massages and take some time to decide what to do next.

I'd also be finding a cleaner asap as I ain't ever cleaning another toilet ever again Grin

TheNine · 08/02/2023 14:09

Straight to Harley street for hundreds of thousands of pounds with of cosmetic surgery!

WedonttalkaboutMaureen · 08/02/2023 14:09

@Seasonofthewitch83 private jet .. I like your style.

BellePeppa · 08/02/2023 14:12

I’ve been so inspired I’ve just bought a euro lottery ticket, first in a long time 😁🤞

JoonT · 08/02/2023 14:14

A Chinese or Indian takeaway from the most expensive place in town. Or I might go to my local Sainsbury’s, which has a massive wine section, and buy the most expensive bottle I could find. I have spent my life looking for the cheapest bottle, or the one on offer, so that would be a real pleasure. No more watery red battery acid for me.

(After that, it would be a detached house, as far away from people and cars and noise as I could get- I’d fill it with books, dig a moat around the outside and pull up the drawbridge).

Runrabbitrunn · 08/02/2023 14:17

Top seats at the ballet and theatre for that week. And a babysitter!

Then a holiday.

Runrabbitrunn · 08/02/2023 14:19

Actually very swanky hotel for after the theatre for me and a friend as well.

WedonttalkaboutMaureen · 08/02/2023 14:21

@BellePeppa I like the hotel idea. I'd read about people "living" on cruise ships permanently too.
Not sure DH would go for that but he's definitely up for a massive, tailored to our specs, motorhome to travel the world.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 08/02/2023 14:21

A couple of bottles of champagne and a takeaway from my favourite Thai restaurant so I could quaff and scoff and say 'I don't fucking believe it' on loop

GoAgainstNicki · 08/02/2023 14:22

The first thing I’m doing is ordering chinese and getting a drink from Starbucks as I’d probably be in shock.

The next thing I’d do is probably donate around 10-15% of my winnings to DYRK1A UK charity. My son has a rare genetic disorder called DYRK1A and the charity do so much in raising awareness and trying to bring families together. They’re great!

One of the ridiculously large lego sets and have it sent to my mother.

Shes always said she would buy me the hogwarts castle if she won big so I'd return the favour!

That's sweet

Lieslies · 08/02/2023 14:27

An ad on the billboard opposite ex's work with his name and a pic of Nelson from the Simpsons pointing and saying ha ha.

80sMum · 08/02/2023 14:29

I would get a landscaping company in to sort out the garden. It's looking very unkempt and sorry for itself at the moment. To be honest, it's just too big for me and DH to manage. I'd love to have someone sort it out and then come round every week to maintain it!

amylou8 · 08/02/2023 14:29

I'd book a holiday somewhere, probably the Carribbean. One of these beautiful all the trimmings ones I'll never be able to afford, and just chill out while I planned what to spend the rest on.

larchforest · 08/02/2023 14:30

Right now - today? A plane ticket for a family member on the other side of the world who would much rather be here at the moment.

I wouldn't buy anything for myself straight away, but I would definitely give my dd some money so she and her dp could finally buy a house, and move out of our spare room!

lovemypuppa · 08/02/2023 14:30

Another dog so my dog could have a friend, then I'd hire some help to tidy up the garden.

whatausername · 08/02/2023 14:32

A calathea in anticipation of my own home. And some seasonal flowers as a thank you/goodbye present for the house I'd be leaving.

Franticbutterfly · 08/02/2023 14:32

A holiday as not been since 2019 and a car as I don't have one atm.

Always4Brenner · 08/02/2023 14:35

Bank it make sure it’s mine get accounts set up so could live of interest tax payments sorted so that can be forgotten about. then call the dwp and tell them exactly what I think of their way of dealing with disability oh the joy of that call. Then I’d furnish my home 1000 thread bedding king size duvet I’d still live here I’m happy and couldn’t bear the moving again, luxury 98 inch tv life sized pictures for my bedroom. New cooker in the kitchen. New carpets. Donations to Moorfields every month.
