If you won the EuroMillions, what would be the first thing you'd actually go out and buy?

As per title, imagine you've somehow suddenly just come into a huge amount of money. What would be the first thing you'd go out and buy? Not talking about houses, cars etc. as all that will come with time. Also assuming that you are going to donate a healthy portion to charity and those you know who need it. I mean the first thing you're actually going to leave the house and spend money on for yourself?

I would go to the nearest nice department store and buy every permutation of the Chanel perfume products so all the soap, body creams, talc, sprays etc. and a big bottle of each eau de parfum. Would probably buy a nice bottle of champagne too but still be too scared to buy Cristal or the like!

@Princessglittery I think what I was trying to say was that with the best will in the world you're not actually going to buy a house in a day, but there will be something that you go out and purchase that would be the first 'thing' you have since getting the money... if that makes sense. I think it goes without saying that we'd all buy a new house, car, book a holiday but I've really enjoyed some of the answers like the Lego Death Stars for now grown up kids, supermarket-sweeping Waterstones and blowing £5K in Hobbycraft 😂

A holiday!

AutumnOcean · 08/02/2023 12:57

I'd go get my eyebrows done 🤣 long overdue

PermanentTemporary · 08/02/2023 12:58

I'd take dp to dinner and a night away at Le Manoir Aux Quat'Saisons.

In the couple of hours beforehand, I'd sprint round John Lewis' lingerie dept as that's the nearest, and book a session at Rigby and Peller for the day after. But I might end up back at Victoria's Secret as I've observed no rich women are my shape so there's unlikely to be much that's as brazen, kinky, sexy and luxurious as I want. In the longer term I'd order hand made lingerie.

doublechocolatedigestives · 08/02/2023 13:01

Braces. My teeth have gone all directions since I've aged 😫

KnickerlessParsons · 08/02/2023 13:03

A house on the Côte d'Azur

kirinm · 08/02/2023 13:05

I suspect I'd go out for some celebratory drinks / meal. And then maybe book a holiday and start thinking about buying a new house.

LaFemmeDamnee · 08/02/2023 13:05

I would buy some champagne and book a laundry service to come twice a week, take away all the dirty clothes and bedding and bring them back clean and pressed. No more laundry. Oh and more bedding for the in between days.

@ChickenMaths
That shop in Bath sounds like heaven!

There are over 140 children's hospices in the UK.I would give most of it to them.

That’s lovely.I’d like to think I’d do the same 🙂 (but not most of it as I have some living to do after some very stressful years). I probably should at least buy a ticket as I haven’t for a few years.

BellePeppa · 08/02/2023 13:17

Apart from setting my own kids up in their own properties I sometimes think I’d set up home in a luxury 5* star hotel so I never have to think about housework or cooking or any of the things you do with a house. I’d have a large luxury suite and live there. I can just move from luxury hotel to hotel worldwide. I don’t think I need roots anymore.

MeganLogan · 08/02/2023 13:20

Let’s assume I’m at home and I see the win around 9pm.

I would go to Sainsburys and buy the food I can’t justify for myself - profiteroles, a large trifle that sort of thing. Get some ‘taste the difference’ breakfast ingredients and get a McFlurry on the way home

- -I'd take my daughter to Hobbycraft and give her £5,000 and tell her not to leave any change. - -

Awww 🥰

It's been so bad for work the last few months and I hate going into shops and constantly telling her, "Sorry, no - we're skint at the moment." She's crafting mad.

IntentionalError · 08/02/2023 13:24

Realistically, the very first thing I would buy would be the most expensive bottle of champagne I could find at my local Waitrose.

HumourReplacementTherapy · 08/02/2023 13:28

Id book me and DH into either a swanky hotel or an apartment (with chef) in London and I'd hit the shops big time. I'd buy clothes/shoes/boots/beauty products/bags and jewellery.
I'd suss out Beauty treatments/ hair salons and be well and truly pampered.
We'd stay for a couple of weeks as shopping can be tiring with all those bags (might need someone to carry them?) Grin
We'd eat out at all the best restaurants. See as many shows as we want and plan our first of many trips abroad to suss out our overseas property location.
Then once we're somewhere nice and sunny I'd start my dream home search.
Probably apply for my Irish passport so I can leave this miserable country behind!
Ahh! I can't wait!
When do I get my winnings?

RosaMoline · 08/02/2023 13:31

I also won £2.80 last night. I mainly play in the hope of bagging the millionaire raffle numbers.
If I won, I think I would book a luxury property in Liverpool for the Eurovision final for myself and DD. We’d love to go, but even a modest rental is unaffordable. We’re huge fans. The very first thing I would do, is give notice on my job. I’d still give them a month’s notice as I’m
nice like that.
Other than that, I would book a week’s rental in a luxury property, somewhere quiet and tranquil, again with my DD, probably in the UK, so that we could peruse right move and plan our overseas trips (NYC would be a priority) to our heart’s content. Would also have lots of lovely food and wines/champagnes delivered to our luxury rental house/cottage. Do Fortnum & Masons deliver like Ocado and sainsbury’s I wonder? Like a grocery delivery?

LondonLovie · 08/02/2023 13:33

A really really good magnum of champagne and the biggest bouquet of pink flowers.

Yes I'd buy a house and some lovely things, but in reality the champs would the first actual thing

Mybumlooksbig · 08/02/2023 13:40

Bottle of Moet and a Chinese take away

longtompot · 08/02/2023 13:42

I'd probably go to my local Waitrose, not look at any prices and put what I wanted in the trolley.

MsSquiz · 08/02/2023 13:42

In this order:

I'd buy a bottle of Veuve Cliquot Rosé & the biggest bag/box of mini eggs I could find!

Then I'd book a night at a fancy hotel for myself with room service and a spa and pay for DH and the kids to have a takeaway!

knobblyribs · 08/02/2023 13:42

I'd probably go to a bar and buy the most expensive champagne and sit quietly with it to gather my thoughts!

charabang · 08/02/2023 13:43

I would get my own tv subscriptions instead of using everyone elses. I would also get my car valeted.

Refrosty · 08/02/2023 13:44

evtheria · 08/02/2023 11:06

ME, PLEASE!

But you'd also need a chauffeur to deliver the boxes of books back home, I went into the bookstore last week and mentally totted up the books I wanted... I wouldn't be able to carry them!

I didn't think that far, you're very right! I'd be a rubbish millionaire, I'm not thinking big enough! 😜

BrutusMcDogface · 08/02/2023 13:45

I would hire a skip and throw ALL the shit out. Then I would go to a carpet place and get some new carpets for my entire house. Then I’d pay someone to redecorate it. Then I’d sell the bloody thing and get a much, much bigger house so my kids could have their own rooms. Aaaah, what a lovely thought!

Iris1976 · 08/02/2023 13:50

I'd have the heating on constant and finally be warm.
