What radio station(s) do you listen to?

Wondering what radio stations you listen to. Do you just keep it on in the background for some gentle noise or do you have it loud enough to hear everything and you pay attention most of the time?

If you listen to a non-UK station, what do you listen to and why? Do you tune in different stations depending on where you are (car/kitchen/bathroom/bedroom)?

I tend to listen to RTÉ Lyric FM in the car and Radio Nova (Dublin station) around the house. Looking to branch out and expand my listening horizons.

Wave 105 during the day but turn to R2 for the Popmaster quiz. Johnnie Walker on R2 Sunday afternoon. Alex Dyke on Radio Solent fri/Sat/Sun nights from 10pm-1am. His music knowledge is second to one and his shows are the best.

Always LBC, morning, noon and night. Been listening since day 1 in 1973.

James O'Brien is my favourite.

I wished I’d have been at his Brexit party , just to see the look on his face. I’d have taken a picture just to hang on my outside toilet wall. 🤭

Radio X pretty much exclusively.

When I do, I listen to Absolute 80's or Radio 2. Prefer my audio books though.

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 07/02/2023 07:22

Radio 1 and radio X. Sometimes have a venture into absolute radio 90's. I WFH so it's on all day.

Turtles4543 · 07/02/2023 07:23

Magic Radio - At the Musicals I’m enjoying in the car

thisnthat · 07/02/2023 07:45

Radio 1 in the car in the day
Capital in the car in the evening
Magic at the Musicals in the kitchen

Diplidocus4 · 07/02/2023 07:54

Absolute depends which decade I feel like

R2 for popmaster and Lisa Tarbuck

Others depending on mood

DuchessOfDisco · 07/02/2023 08:04

KMFM (local) or Classic FM

LBC mostly. O 'Brien, Dale, Andrew Marr, they've acquired some impressive presenters. NIck Abbott on LBC is very funny but only if you 'get' him. Steve Allen, on the other hand, is difficult for me to bear. But thousands love him so there we are.

HoppyHop · 07/02/2023 09:50

Stopped listening to breakfast radio as I can't find anything I like.
Radio 2 in the background when I'm working from 9:30am-7pm M-F
Virgin for Graham Norton on sat-sun mornings
Liza T Radio 2 early evening Saturday.
Occasionally Greatest Hits radio (when Scott Mills gets annoying!!).

MrsMariaReynolds · 07/02/2023 09:52

LBC and Heart mostly. BBC Radio 4 and Virgin on weekends.

I mostly listen to the local iHeartRadio station affiliated with my hometown in America. Helps with feeling connected to home, less homesick

mondaytosunday · 07/02/2023 10:05

Radio 4
Jazz FM
Chill
Smooth

UpYaJumper · 07/02/2023 10:14

Mi-Soul
1Xtra
Various London pirate stations for house music
Classic FM for my commute as it chills me out. Occasionally R4 if there is something interesting on.

Kids insist on Capital Xtra.

I can’t stand talk radio.

Lessstressedhemum · 07/02/2023 10:23

UCB2,
Classic FM, especially Smooth Classics at 7 and Saturday night at the movies

VioletCharlotte · 07/02/2023 10:32

I still listen to radio one, despite being 47. I like listening to new music, not stuff from 30 years ago (I've got Spotify for that). And I don't listen to commercial radio as I can't stand the ads.

I've always said there needs to be a radio station that mixes current music with content aimed at a slightly older audience. Radio 2 is just too dull.

Reugny · 07/02/2023 10:38

Heart or Smooth or Classic FM - as my DD likes them.

LBC during the day when working, and randomly early mornings for Steve Allan and at the weekend for David Lammy.

CUDet · 07/02/2023 11:37

Radio X and Radio 4 for news and comedy.

soboredtonight · 08/02/2023 21:28

I listened to in demand again tonight cooking. It's all house music from the 90's.

Loved it. Had a wine. Cooked. Had a dance cooking.

Fucked up my shepherds pie.

Living the dream.

Currently listening to Tom Swarbrick being called a leftie on LBC due to talking about a certain 30p MP. The caller is unaware that Tom Swarbrick worked for the Tory party...

😂

Mumskisail · 09/02/2023 16:45

Virgin - Chris Evans and Graham Norton

xogossipgirlxo · 09/02/2023 16:47

I only listen to radio in the car and it's Classic FM or Heart 90s.

iPreferBooks · 09/02/2023 16:55

BBC Radio 2 and I tune into Greatest Hits Radio pretty often for Simon Mayo's drive time + confessions. I'll probably end up switching full time once Ken Bruce moves over.
