MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 02/02/2023 17:15

Well, quite!

Never mind, at least we have taken back control, or something. Confused

Marchitectmummy · 02/02/2023 17:21

The speed of covid vaccination roll out was one mentioned at the time?

My understanding is that that was a myth. A convenient one, maybe, but not backed up by any evidence.

Lifesyoungdream · 02/02/2023 17:26

I was just talking about this today
Has the National Health improved
Has it stopped illegal immigrants coming into the country.

Yep not sure why however I do know I was vaccinated prior to my friends in France and Germany and it seemed to be smoother process but why I don't know...I wasn't a Brexit supporter but just remembered that

No, it can't be a myth. Johnson was saying just this week that it was the main benefit of Brexit. It was when he was interviewed about Britain havingbthe weakest economy in the G7 I think, if you want to check.

Mamamia7962 · 02/02/2023 17:30

Not this question again! OP there is a Brexit board if you're interested, but I think you aren't and have just posted here to be goady.

danceyourselfdizzy1 · 02/02/2023 17:32

I've got some lovely looking bananas in just now. Beautiful bend to them.

stbrandonsboat · 02/02/2023 17:34

I think we'll be going back to a more authentic way of living, like we did after the Romans left 🤔 living in wattle and daub huts, sleeping next to animals to keep warm, pulling our own teeth out and living on turnips whilst the rich folks demand we hand over any produce we've grown and taking our daughters off us.

I expect it will be a learning experience and character building.

wackamole · 02/02/2023 17:43

I've been tracking this. So far:

(1) The UK can now unilaterally close its airspace to flights from selected countries of origin. This was done in February when the UK did close its airspace to Russian flights 24 hours before the EU and USA and 48+ hours before other third countries like Canada.

(2) The UK is no longer bound by EU VAT parameters, which means that it can eliminate VAT altogether on products such as tampons, and that the NI, Scottish, and Welsh Governments/Executives can (provided it's allowed within the various devolution agreements) set their own VAT levels in the future.

I had one most about minimum alcohol pricing, but I had to retire it as Ireland's done it now, so I guess it was possible within the EU all along.

Oh, well if Boris said it, it must be true. He is known for his honestly, after all.

I have wondered why if people aren’t as keen no one wants to use that change for votes

Or maybe mn isn’t that aligned to what would win votes

MelchiorsMistress · 02/02/2023 17:51

There aren’t any.

vodkaredbullgirl · 02/02/2023 17:51

🤔nope it's gone

It was a myth because Britain (or any other member state) could have taken an identical approach even while being in the EU. Germany, for example, could have done the same thing, they just went with a different approach.

RampantIvy · 02/02/2023 17:54

Here's my list of positives to come out of it:
1.
2.
3.

Oh well.

The SNP, SDLP, Alliance, Sinn Fein, and Plaid Cymru have been using it.

MrsR87 · 02/02/2023 17:55

None that I can think of and I’m afraid the few that have been mentioned upthread will never outweigh what we lost! It’s an absolute shambles!

I mean in England where Brexit was voted for at higher rate - effectively meaning it won
