Man spreading on the bus *pic*

I'm currently on the bus. It's busy. Had to ask this dick to move his bag so I could sit. He did, however didn't move his legs so I made room for myself and pushed his leg over a bit when I sat. He didn't move. He hasn't moved. I felt a bit ick with him touching me so have crossed my a leg a bit and am using my foot to keep his leg off me.....he pretending to be asleep, eyes tight closed.

I hope I've marked his trousers. He's not moved though...I'm pushing a bit and have a steadfastly got on my foot against him and the front of the bus.

I want to ask him really loud if he has something wrong with his testicles and that's why he is taking up so much space. 🙄

It really makes me angry.

YABVVVU, and very petty @CucumberCool . This man has done nothing wrong. I am also willing to bet that the man's legs are not spread as wide as that diagram makes out either, and they've just been drawn like that to support the OP's argument. Wink

I can't believe the amount of hate and venom aimed at this man (and men in general,) by some posters on here. He's literally done nothing wrong. Confused

I would love to hear the man's side in this 'argument.'

You clearly are in absolute denial about the myriad ways that women's needs/wants/rights are expected to take second place to men's entitlement or fragile feelings ALL the time. From tiny issues (but over and over again) to huge ones.

She's being physically intimidated. If she takes the space that she's paid for, she will have to touch him - with all the dangers that involves for a woman. He is absolutely relying on her being too intimidated to do so and while it might seem petty to you, it's representative of what goes on between men and women all the time, with a massive impact on women's agency and freedom.

Do remember height comes into it, my Dp struggles to fit his legs into bus spaces, only manages on planes by putting them under the seat in front

I think if that were the case (which it isn't - he could swing them to the left and sit up straighter) he should apologise no?

Unless the person on the left has ridiculously wide hips, I don't think the panel on the front of the bus, marks where the seats are. They are just panels and not an indicator of seat space. You can see the line of his leg going up to his hip. His leg does not go out to the right, it goes straight. . This means his whole body is sitting centrally, even though a bag is between his legs. As it looks from the photo, the person on the right has crossed their leg over the other. This takes up a lot of space; it's not something I would ever do, knowing how cramped some buses are. A passive-aggressive move maybe. Would it have not been better to just communicate and ask him if he could move over just a little as you feel squashed. Most humans are quite reasonable with polite requests. * *Maybe he was in his own world for whatever reason and some people just don't think, until it's pointed out.

Your drawing suggests his legs are too long to go together - the left knee is already in contact with the back of the seat.

I think a lot of women are unfair to tall men that can't physically avoid sitting with their knees apart.

It’s a bad photo as it appears you are taking up more room by having your legs crossed than he is. The panel is meaningless as I’ve never been on a bus where the panels are the exact size of a seat or the edges mark the exact centre line. The panels are usually straddling both seats and the centre of the panel(marked by the knob) would match the centre line of the seat. The seat cloth cover looks like a Stagecoach bus to me, and they don’t have panels where the edge marks the centre line of the seats.

But I’ll take your word for it that he was sitting with his bag between his legs and man spreading even though it’s pretty obvious from the angle of his thigh he was no longer manspreading when you took the photo.

Why do you feel the need to actively push your boot into his leg and hope you are getting muck all over his jeans? That is rude and aggressive imho.

And that’s why the resident MN artist has recreated an illustration of the offence. 😂
