Man spreading on the bus *pic*

I'm currently on the bus. It's busy. Had to ask this dick to move his bag so I could sit. He did, however didn't move his legs so I made room for myself and pushed his leg over a bit when I sat. He didn't move. He hasn't moved. I felt a bit ick with him touching me so have crossed my a leg a bit and am using my foot to keep his leg off me.....he pretending to be asleep, eyes tight closed.

I hope I've marked his trousers. He's not moved though...I'm pushing a bit and have a steadfastly got on my foot against him and the front of the bus.

I want to ask him really loud if he has something wrong with his testicles and that's why he is taking up so much space. 🙄

It really makes me angry.

Rant over.

My m8 sits like that he’s 6 ft 4 if sit with legs closed his knees are pressed hard up against seat in front not enough room

Man on bus does not look like this is his problem. And if it was, then I would suggest he sit on the aisle.

HandbagsnGladrags · 26/01/2023 14:23

@rwalker I don't want anyone's sweaty leg on me TBH, regardless of sex.

cassiatwenty · 26/01/2023 14:29

@rwalker Is that Andy from Newcastle? #askingforafriend 🍟

cassiatwenty · 26/01/2023 14:29

I mean, yr m8 lol

I personally think it's you that's being a bit of a dick here OP.

If that's the aisle next to you particularly as you could easily point your legs the other way but instead you've chosen pettiness and a race to the bottom with this man, well done.

This. ^ @CucumberCool I didn't realise you were in the aisle seat! That makes you even more unreasonable!

Even @Catnary 's diagram (at 13.16,) shows you could easily just swing your legs the other way.

YABVVVU, and very petty @CucumberCool . This man has done nothing wrong. I am also willing to bet that the man's legs are not spread as wide as that diagram makes out either, and they've just been drawn like that to support the OP's argument. Wink

I can't believe the amount of hate and venom aimed at this man (and men in general,) by some posters on here. He's literally done nothing wrong. Confused

I would love to hear the man's side in this 'argument.'

What?! Why should he put the bags on his lap and be uncomfortable the entire journey, when OP could just be kind and stand?

No, no, no Glorianna and forgodssnake

The Op could just be kind and stand and offer to hold his bag.
Why should the poor lamb suffer with a bag on his lap, surely the weight of the bag will squash his enormous ball sack?

Tut tut op.

I disagree but your diagram is excellent.

OP is going to see this after work and think, OMG....

cassiatwenty · 26/01/2023 14:39

I'm just here for more diagrams and the bus steward

Also, Jojo Moyes if you're reading this thread and thinking of stealing the idea for one of your books, back off, first come, first serve, the idea is mine.

Or else...😷🤕😵

lunathestral · 26/01/2023 14:47

I'd lean my leg up against his & exclaim loudly - oooh this is cosy

Agree with the above
My partner is 6ft 3 with long legs so he has to sit like that on a bus

cassiatwenty · 26/01/2023 14:49

@lunathestral 😂😂😂

Mysonwontwash · 26/01/2023 15:00

This happened to my daughter once when she sat in the fold down seats. A man sat next to her with his legs spread and his friend sat on the other side of her with his legs outstretched. She took a photo to show me. She was 13 years old at the time but looks quite a bit older. Makes me so angry. Oh, and the bus was nearly empty.

Catnary · 26/01/2023 15:02

I will have you know that I used advanced spatial scanning technology to extract precise angles and micro-measurements at pixel level from @CucumberCool 's photograph, which I then fed into a pen and ink-simulator supported by the same technology as the large Hadron Collider in Cerne, then the resulting diagram was peer reviewed by Professor Brian Cox, Carol Vorderman and Dr Brian May.

@CremeEggsForBreakfast

You haven't done it or you haven't noticed? Two very different things. Where do you put your legs when they literally do not fit in front of you, such as on a bus, train, or theatre seat?

Is this a serious question? You're saying I'm just not noticing where my legs are?!

Having been very 'successfully' socialised as a girl/woman, believe me when I say I am ALWAYS aware of what space I am taking up, ESPECIALLY as I'm very tall.

You have to sit up straight in your seat, sit with your legs in the aisle slightly if possible or stand up.

I think it's entirely possible to be self-absorbed enough to not notice you're encroaching on someone else's space, yes. Clearly you are not that self-absorbed.

You say you put your legs in the aisle. I said in my original comment that taking up the aisle is not ideal practice.
So your alternative is to stand up. That's great that you are able to do this.

There may be good reasons why this tall person cannot stand. Why should OP's comfort come before his? Imagining for a second that he was unable to stand, if she was able, perhaps it would have been gracious of OP to stand and allow him room?

I'm aware I'm making assumptions but to mock him and call him selfish etc is also making assumptions.

To find out, all OP had to do was, rather than passively aggressively shove him with her foot, was to say "Sorry, could you move over a bit? I haven't much room here". His response would have said everything.

He doesn’t have to. If he can’t keep to his own seat and needs to take up two seats to the detriment of other passengers, he could: stand, get off the bus and wait for an emptier one, take private transport, sit in the aisle and tuck his legs out to the side, sit with his knees up, slouch with legs stretched straight under the seat underneath, etc etc. Lots of options before available before you take someone else’s space.

2bazookas · 26/01/2023 15:12

If he's asleep, and you have a lipstick in your bag......

Vodkaskirts · 26/01/2023 15:14

If he doesnt have long legs YNBU ask him to move

If he has long legs and cant move much cause of the seat in front ask him to wrap offending leg around his neck YABU

Hearmeout · 26/01/2023 15:25

Honestly, if you put your foot on me instead of asking me to move up a little (which is the normal way to do things) I would use my ample hips to bump you fully onto your arse into the aisle.

The bag on the seat is annoying though, I'll give you that.
Maybe he's got social anxiety.

Yes, this must absolutely be the reason he is sat like a dick

No you wouldn't, you absolutely wouldn't. Your post is so hypocritical. You would ask the person to move their foot (which is the normal way to do things)😉.
