Man spreading on the bus *pic*

I'm currently on the bus. It's busy. Had to ask this dick to move his bag so I could sit. He did, however didn't move his legs so I made room for myself and pushed his leg over a bit when I sat. He didn't move. He hasn't moved. I felt a bit ick with him touching me so have crossed my a leg a bit and am using my foot to keep his leg off me.....he pretending to be asleep, eyes tight closed.

I hope I've marked his trousers. He's not moved though...I'm pushing a bit and have a steadfastly got on my foot against him and the front of the bus.

I want to ask him really loud if he has something wrong with his testicles and that's why he is taking up so much space. 🙄

I seem to be looking at a different picture. His leg is right over on OP's side.

I saw a similar image this week of a woman who endured a five-hour flight in the same uncomfortable position. What's really infuriating is we know fine well these men would not be doing it had their neighbouring passenger happened to be another man. The object is to make themselves bigger, and for women to make themselves smaller. It's just another symptom of the increasing virus of misogyny that's permeating our society and seemingly getting worse every decade.

A story to cheer you up: I had one of these come and sit next to me in the aisle seat of one of those uncomfortable new Azuma trains. He immediately started trying to jostle my elbow off the arm rest and encroach his leg into my space.

I sat rigid and refused to give a single inch. Eventually he grew tired of his efforts at intimidating me out of my paid-for space, and when someone alighted, he moved over to the window seat they had been occupying. An obese bloke immediately boarded and sat right next to him. It was on the East Coast line to London, and the nearest station was an hour away. Hoist by his own petard - HA!

Honestly the lengths women will go to excuse men’s shitty behaviour.

My partner is 6’2 and has never felt the need to manspread into neighbouring seats on the bus. The picture is clear for anyone who takes the bus. He’s taking nearly half OP’s space.

Though I do think OP should speak up, seeing as he’s ‘sleeping’ I have a distinct feeling he’ll pretend he can’t hear it.

oh now I have obviously only encountered amateurs who, as soon as you touch your leg with theirs are mortified by the touching and move. My other thing is to just sit down and if their legs are in "my space" then tough. Did the leg touching thing in the sauna at centerparcs last week. Very satisfying - he left the sauna very soon after. Bus is more tricky as more likely to be nutters.

Just to add that I was sexually assaulted by two different men who relied on manspreading into my seat knowing that women are often too afraid to assert themselves over a right to space.

Yes. Happened to me too. Dirty old perv rubbing his thigh against mine on a bus when I was 13. Sat there frozen. Nowadays I would punch him square in the face of course but yes, a lot of men do this to get their kicks.

OP, I’m with you - people criticising you haven’t understood the picture !

The whole, entire frame is a pic of your seat, which currently comprises both your dark grey legs (crossed) and the light grey right leg of the unwelcome invader. This leg doesn’t look abnormally fat or long, and it doesn’t appear to possess a foot - which must be to the left of the frame (where the rest of his leg should be, next to his left leg, with his bag on his knee 🙄).

If he’s tall, that doesn’t give him the right to encroach on your space, you do not need to accommodate him. In fact, long legs are all the better for walking places rather than catching buses.

Well it wasn't obvious when pic was first posted 🙄. The reason I don't use public transport then I don't have to worry about it 🙂

Possibly that we are busy doing other things and only took a quick glance at it rather than a CSI /Forensic way 🤔

If he has long legs, he can sit up ultra straight, contort himself into a position to accommodate op or sit in the aisle rather forcing her to contort. I have a 33 inside leg so I know what it’s like to be crammed and we don’t know his legs are too long to sit straight. He could be slouching in his seat thus pushing his legs forward. I know a woman with a 36 inside leg. Funnily enough she manages not to piss everyone off by woman spreading.

I think the man is on the right hand side of the picture and that’s his ding-a-ling in the bottom right corner hence why he can’t close his legs.

You haven't done it or you haven't noticed? Two very different things. Where do you put your legs when they literally do not fit in front of you, such as on a bus, train, or theatre seat?

Having been very 'successfully' socialised as a girl/woman, believe me when I say I am ALWAYS aware of what space I am taking up, ESPECIALLY as I'm very tall.

You have to sit up straight in your seat, sit with your legs in the aisle slightly if possible or stand up.

@CremeEggsForBreakfast I have long legs. What I do is sit bold upright with my backside wedged hard in the back of the seat. It is then possible not to manspread.

Men also man spread next to men. It's about power and asserting dominance as well as at times about sex and genital display.
