How often do your kids shower?

Just wondering after a conversation with my eldest, I used to have a bath twice a week (born in early 80s) and my two 9&10 shower or bath every other day, sometimes go an extra day if we've got a lot on but certainly more regular than I did. How often do yours get clean?

One of mine showers weekly because of severe skin problems. My 10 year old every other day.

Blueuggboots · 19/01/2023 13:00

Every day. Wanted to get the habit ingrained before he became a soap dodging teenager....
He's 12 in a month.

TheUsualChaos · 19/01/2023 13:01

Mine have baths a couple of times a week usually, they are both under 10. Summer months when they are sticky with suncream then a quick bath daily.

Every day, and they always have done.
Being clean is a must in our house, and helps them to relax and sleep

DS is 9 and should wash every other day. It sometimes slips when we are busy (as he isn't bothered so won't do it without nagging) but really it should be every other day. We've never bathed him every day as he has sensitive skin and eczema and we were told not to as it would aggravate it.

every day- sorry but anything less than that regularly is disgusting to me

😂

MourningTea · 19/01/2023 13:10

2.5 year old with eczema, twice a week.
Otherwise I just give a wipe down on the dirty areas every morning and before bed.
I find if I bathe more often the eczema worsens.. But in the case of vomiting bugs and diarrhea explosions I will give an extra bath.

We manage to be clean without daily showers

NotMyFinestMoment · 19/01/2023 13:11

Every single day.

Chasedbythechaser · 19/01/2023 13:12

Really don't understand people who don't teach their kids that you are supposed to wash daily.

I am interested to see the science behind this ‘fact’?

Or do you bath?

How are you completely clean otherwise?

CoffeeChocolateWine · 19/01/2023 13:13

Every day. There would have to be a very good reason for them not to shower or have a bath. My DC are 14, 10 and 4. My 14yo is very sporty so sometimes it will even be twice in a day. They don't necessarily need to shower daily but it's part of their routine and I want to ingrain good habits for when they're older. Adults should shower daily (I know not all adults do but IMO they should unless there are medical reasons not to) so start that habit young.

No. We all shower every other day and are completely clean. How do you get so dirty in such a short space of time? If we get really sweaty or dirty then fair enough, but regular day to day?

gamerchick · 19/01/2023 13:15

Oooo is it time for the who who can out ming each other part of the thread? Thats the mintest part. Grin

What do you do on other days?
We do lots of sports, go to the gym, exercise usually daily don't you?

Swissmountains · 19/01/2023 13:19

Also kids have been in school all day, it is grimy - full of germs of course you want to wash that away before putting your children into a crisp, clean bed.

I don't exercise daily. I can barely walk.

My DC go to school and do various activities there but unless it's really hot in the summer they don't need a daily shower. They wash their face and brush their teeth. Then shower every other day

Cuppasoupmonster · 19/01/2023 13:20

DD is 3.5 and has a bath every other night with hair wash. The days in between we just do hand and face washing. Clean clothes every day.

Justcashnosweets · 19/01/2023 13:22

Dd 9, bath twice a week, daily wash. If she showered or bathed every day her skin would be a mess as she has excema. My GP said that children don't need daily baths unless they are grubby, and until they start puberty. Its totally unnecessary.

Maybe different when they are in school but the really little ones don't need bathing everyday.
Also love the sports brag Grin some of us work 12 hour shifts so unfortunately don't have time to go to the gym every day..

I was talking about the dc doing sport every day. I do try to exercise daily if I can. I have always bathed little ones, because I found them even more in need of a good wash down. Covered in mud, food and sticky stuff, glitter or whatever we did that day.

Once they were in school I didn't like the idea of them going to bed with all of the grime from school, and they would do sports every day except for Sunday. Sunday is beauty night here. I also wouldn't be be able to keep up with who showered every other day, and inevitably it would be missed.

Cleanliness is so important to me. It is an absolute rock basic requirement in this house and I can't imagine not showering/bathing every day unless I was in a coma somewhere.

I am sorry you can barely walk, managing your day is obviously going to be different and prioritise yourself of course, and what you can do comfortably.

Daffodilis · 19/01/2023 13:34

Daily, sometimes twice a day

Newuser82 · 19/01/2023 13:35

Mine are age 9 and 4. They shower or bath every day. They spend a lot of time outside and the older at one does a lot of sport. I can't imagine doing it once or twice a week.

HarryBlaster · 19/01/2023 13:35

I shower my 7 year old in the morning, every other day. I wash her hair twice a week.
