How often do your kids shower?

Just wondering after a conversation with my eldest, I used to have a bath twice a week (born in early 80s) and my two 9&10 shower or bath every other day, sometimes go an extra day if we've got a lot on but certainly more regular than I did. How often do yours get clean?

Every day.

Fluteytooting · 19/01/2023 11:51

My daughter has dry, eczema prone skin and we only wash her twice a week otherwise she flares.

Emmamoo89 · 19/01/2023 11:52

My son is 9 months and bath him twice a week and do top and tail in between

Er.. awkward. Usually about once a week age 4. He hates it so even that's an achievement. If he gets really muddy or dirty though we do an extra one. There will be screaming.

Que the angry mob... 😳🤦‍♀️

No angry mob here. Exactly the same. We try to manage twice a week but I have to really steel myself for that as DS is utterly terrified of it (for reasons we don't underestimate) and just gets totally hysterical.

Nearly 11 year old ds- mostly every day!

mamatoTails · 19/01/2023 11:55

My girls are 10 & 9, and shower 3 times in the week after gymnastics, and on a Sunday.
During the summer months it's daily as live abroad and swim & use sun cream daily.

Eldest DS 14 and showers every day.

Wiaa · 19/01/2023 11:56

Mine are 3 and 6 they have a bath most days but on average I'd say 5 or 6 out of 7. Monday's tend to be a bath free night as my husband gets home later. Personally I shower 3or4 times a week and DH every day

Chasedbythechaser · 19/01/2023 11:58

Twice a week. Would be once a week except they shower and wash hair after swimming lesson.

More often in summer as the dirt goes onto their skin instead of clothing. And daily when using sun lotion in summer.

I’ve never thought they smelled bad.

Oh and pjs changed once a week!

Deadringer · 19/01/2023 11:58

Adult dc shower every day usually but if they have a day off and not leaving the house they would skip it. Same for me. 12 year wants to shower every day but has eczema so I limit her to every other day. Luckily she isn't sweaty and doesn't have greasy hair so that suffices for now.

Glittersparkle76 · 19/01/2023 11:59

DD9 usually showers/baths once a day and sometimes twice, she loves going in the shower. Many days if she's showered or bathed before bed she will shower again in the morning before school despite me asking her to have a wash in the sink, she would spend ages in there if I let her, but I hurry her along due to the cost of long showers!

gamerchick · 19/01/2023 11:59

Autistic teen, every day he showers off his own back.

Sandrine1982 · 19/01/2023 12:00

3-year old with eczema here too

We do 2-3 times a week, otherwise it dries her skin too much.

but we wash hands and face and wet-wipe private parts every day

4thonthe4th · 19/01/2023 12:01

Everyday. 9, 5 & 3.

Cornelious · 19/01/2023 12:02

4 showers and 1 bath. Age 11. They do swim 3 days a week so they all hair wash quite a lot too.

HavingColleaguesSucksSomedays · 19/01/2023 12:02

One teenager and one tween in my house, both shower daily and have done since they were in nursery.

My son used to be the same! Used to be a fighting match.
He's now 10 and suddenly wants a bath every single night. Which I'm glad about.

OwwwMuuuum · 19/01/2023 12:04

DS7 whenever I can catch him and throw him under the water (usually once or twice a week)

DD9 has started puberty so she understands it needs to be more - every other day.

I used to shower daily (and a full face of makeup!) when I worked FT. I’m a SAHM now and only shower every other day unless I’ve just exercised, I’m on, or have something specific to do. Dog walks and supermarket trips do not require squeaky cleanliness and my dry skin gets worse if I shower too often.

Cincinnatus · 19/01/2023 12:05

We all have a bath every day. Children aged 12 and 9.

Howabsolutelyfanfuckingtastic · 19/01/2023 12:06

Every night after school and Sunday night ready for school the next day. If it's hot weather or they've been out playing sports they have a shower on Saturday too but if not then they have a night off from having a shower.

Puppypads · 19/01/2023 12:06

Daily, since they were a week old. Occasionally skip if it's a late night. They're 7 and 10. It's a habit I want to have ingrained in them before they reach the sweaty stage!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 19/01/2023 12:07

every day- sorry but anything less than that regularly is disgusting to me

Howabsolutelyfanfuckingtastic · 19/01/2023 12:09

Forgot to say that if it's school holidays they get still get showered/bathed everyday apart from Saturdays when some children have a night off. I get showered everyday without fail and always twice if it's hot plus a shower after being at the gym so it can be 3 showers a day in the summer months.

specialk9 · 19/01/2023 12:10

13yo - every day. Sometimes every other.

5yo + 18mo - every other, or miss a day if we can't fit it in

ghjklo · 19/01/2023 12:14

twice a week usually, this will increase as she gets older (currently age 9). Maybe a bit more in summer. As a LP it's hard to fit in any more. And more is unnecessary unless they've been doing lots of exercise or are sweaty / dirty. It can be bad for the skin to bathe too much - removes the healthy bacteria and messes with skin PH etc. Plus it's a lot of water etc.
