Ken Bruce leaving Radio 2

Just heard Ken Bruce announce he's leaving radio 2 in March.
Him and Steve Wright were the only reason I listened to Radio 2.
What am I going to listen to now?
Can't stand commercial radio, too old for Radio 1, any ideas please?

I love Ken ,, will retune to GHR to listen to him !
I agree Radio 2 needs to have young people as well but find Scott sooo annoying . Probably takes a while to bed people in when long term popular DJs leave.

Very saddened to hear earlier that he’s leaving R2, assumed he was retiring though until just hearing on GHR he’s joining them in April. Can’t wait for Steve Wright to join them too. Jeremy Vine must be wondering when he’s getting the push, he’s the only daytime regular left now on R2.

No more Radio 2 for me, no one on the daytime show worth listening to now!

I wish they'd ditch JVine and bring back Vanessa Feltz.

And R4 take Lauren Laverne off Desert Island Discs and either bring back Kirsty Young or another broadcaster who can actually conduct an interview.

Gutted that Ken is going but please God ... not Gary Davies! He's the worst of the lot of them! Aaargh.

Radio 2 is really crap now. Liza Tarbuck would be great instead of Scott Mills and Sar 'what's for tea' Cox. Boom is supposed to be good.

I moved over to GHR ages ago (when Simon Mayo went) and I've been really happy listening to it - it's what R2 used to be. I never liked Ken Bruce, but I think after Steve Wright left it was only matter of time before he left too.

If Vanessa Feltz would do an early morning show on GHR, I'd be in radio heaven :D

Yep I'm gutted too. LOVE his humour, there's no one else like him on the radio, he's a one-off. 😊

Really not enjoying Scott Mills with his self centred inanities, his cringeworthy teenage language (anyone feeling aggy???) and his "massive" choons. It's just awful. Mercifully just 2 hours.
I really don't like Rylan either... he's a bit marmite. And please not Anita Rani. I found her really irritating. I quite like Gary Davies but I think he's a bit too old school.

I think Vernon would be best- he has the personality to carry a show for 5 days a week without going Scott Mills.
(Really I'd like Vanessa Feltz to come back and do it.)

I will miss Ken he's one of the few ones I still listen to.

I really love listening to Ken and feel irrationally upset about this. Listening to him over the first lockdown was the only sort of normality I had.
I will still listen to radio 2 as love Sara Cox and don't mind Scott Mills.

Not just me then. Scott Mills is absolutely dire. Dreadful. I can't listen to his drivel. That's me and R2 done then if Ken's going except for Sounds of the Seventies on Sunday afternoon. What the hell is the thinking behind Scott Mills?

Really sad about this, Ken is a legend and Popmaster is the highlight of my morning.

He really is the only one worth listening to now. I was so pleased when Steve Wright went but I’m not loving Scott Mills - he just doesn’t fit. Can’t abide Zoe Ball, she’s far too irritating first thing. Jeremy Vine is smarmy and his show attracts some really iffy callers. Sara Cox is ok but I get tired of her matey mum act and want to slap most of the people who call All Request Friday to boast about their smug road trips with obligatory stupidly-named kids/dog to visit The <insert surnames> for bubbles/nibbles/outdoor pizza/glamping or whatever is trendy this week.

I read Rylan is being lined up. I like him but he doesn’t come close to Ken and he’s wrong for that slot.

Heard about this earlier on too. It will be very different without Ken in the morning and no Popmaster either! 😥That, I will really miss as it's the highlight of my morning!

Ritchie is really annoying, I cannot stand his voice…. I always feel like the presenters are trying to make him in to a ‘thing’, don’t know why, he’s dull as dishwater!

Really sad about this. Ken Bruce is a legend. Fantastic sense of humour and was never stuck for a word.

I loved his humility. He never looked down on anyone (when chatting to people on Popmaster). “Oh you clean septic tanks for a living? .. much work on at the minute? How far away is your furthest customer?” Same with people who were out of work.

At the same time he wasn’t prostrating himself with the big names, either. Sounded natural but appreciative and knows his music.

I do realise he has only left R2 rather than SOTMC.

Good luck Ken. We will miss you .. will seek you out on GHR.

I've been tuning in to greatest hits radio for some time. Simon mayo does drive time with the confessions. It's fab. Love ken Bruce and popmaster can't wait for him to join GHR. Best news ever 🤩

I couldn’t stand Steve Wright he was awful, sycophantic interviews and talking/singing over the music.
Quite like Ken thought so he’ll be missed. Dislike pop master, I hate all phone ins, so won’t miss that.
I like a lot of the new crowd. Don’t mind Zoe, like Sara and love Claudia.

Thank the lord. Seems nice and I like his voice but don't like the bad jokes or the repetitive monotony of pop master.

I don't mind Zoe but usually listen to R4 first thing. I don't love Scott but he's a vast improvement on Steve Wright. I really like Sara, Claudia, Rylan (apart from the bit with his mum) and Dermot. I miss Simon Mayo but I find the ads on greatest hits annoying after a while.

I wish there was a station somewhere between radio 2 and 4. I might try Times radio again but I like just turning on my proper radio and not faffing on my phone

Greatest hits radio now has all the old radio 2 djs. I just turn the radio down to ignore the ads. Greatest hits has Simon Mayo, Mark Goodier, Richard Allinson, Paul Gambaccini, Alex Lester, Jackie Brambles, and now Ken Bruce! I switched over when Simon Mayo moved, and discovered so many other familiar voices.

I feel the same! He kept me sane during lockdown and I must say that I felt really SAD when he made his announcement this morning. Makes me realise that a) I need to get out more and b) I need to tune in to Greatest Hits Radio and give it a go.
