Baby !

RJnomore1 · 21/01/2023 00:56

I’ve just read the victim’s story of his us crime which us horrific

I would put money on we don’t know the full story which is as it should be.

It sounds like the car fire may have been a way to hide evidence of the baby existing, as opposed to being accidental?

Police appear to believe otherwise. I've also seen reposts that state the baby is known to be a bot which I found odd in the circumstances

Boy obviously 🙈 and reports. I couldn't find her Facebook when I looked is it under her full name?

Hi, its under her nickname & second name.

brogueish · 21/01/2023 19:41

This seems to have gone completely silent today. Really hope this means the baby has been found and care for mother and child is in place.

What an absolute fall from grace this story is, so very sad and sobering. For someone with such apparent capability, profile and resource to be in this situation has really struck me. “There but for the grace of god…” feels apt.

TurtleTriplets · 21/01/2023 19:44

Are the "underlying medical issues" thought to be heroin withdrawal in the baby?

Where did you see this mentioned?

picklemewalnuts · 21/01/2023 20:06

The lifestyle of the parents suggest drug use.
Babies born to mothers with addictions, suffer withdrawal. It's distressing. Shrill incessant crying. Lots of the in foster care. Very high needs babies

bellac11 · 21/01/2023 20:16

They often stay in SCBU for a while after birth too, they dont go home as quickly as other babies

Or baby might not be withdrawing but if the parents are addicts, their focus will be on their next fix, being out of it for hours on end and baby will be severely neglected and could come to harm

It's amazing how much speculation is on this thread

By the sounds of some of the other posts, posters work in the field, so we recognise why the level of police intervention is what it is and what the thresholds would be for seeking out the child.

Clue = its not because she gave birth without medical intervention

ThisGirlNever · 21/01/2023 21:53

I really don't think this is simply about a baby born to junkies. They're, unfortunately, ten a penny. You don't see media appeals and 200 police working those cases.

There's a lot more to this story than we're being told.

Parents dont usually run off with their newborn babies though.

We have them occasionally but they're normally found pretty quickly, but there will only be police involvement if the child needs to be out of the parents care or if the child is already having significant oversight (as an unborn for example) by statutory services.

How do you know both parents are addicts? I've seen nothing reported about this.

bellac11 · 21/01/2023 22:29

They might not be, but there are limited reasons to why people lose the care of their children.

There could be extreme violence in the relationship, which could significantly put the baby at risk
There could be significant MH issues which mean that the parents are so ill that they're not able to keep the baby safe. Their MH could cause them to be violent or have episodes where they act dangerously or neglect the child.
There could be substance abuse issues, and if so, it might or might not lead to violence but if a serious addiction, it usually leads to neglect of children

There very well could be a combination of factors

Their track record of leaving accommodation in a terrible state and with unpaid rent suggests chaotic and unpredictable behaviour, despite her money, so she is either very ill and/or abusing substances of some sort.

Comeonbarbiebrianharvey · 21/01/2023 23:21

I thought it odd that her father said the past 8 years have been beyond painful, when she met Gordon 6 years ago. Could be addiction, MH, who knows. A desperate situation for all involved.

So they were already estranged for two years when they got together.

Jan 2016 - Dec 2023 would be 8 years so I suspect it's more that he's rounded up than anything else.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 22/01/2023 08:00

It’s unlikely we will know the truth. I hope they are found and the baby is safe. It’s a most peculiar story. The mother is thought to be carrying a large amount of cash with her.

Domestic violence/drug and alcohol misuse/neglect/child abuse often go hand in hand also. So it almost certainly isn't as simple as his criminal past, or her drug use, or whatever. These cases where children have been removed from the home almost always have multiple risk factors for the child.

New article published today, mentioning Nigerian cult, that she went to research and ended up joining for 6 months. Though not sure on the significance of that as it was before she met MG.

MeinKraft · 22/01/2023 11:10

The Independent is running a live blog on this story which seems unusual.

Sound like they are grasping at straws.

But it does sound like she has previously been vulnerable to manipulation.

kittykutty · 22/01/2023 11:55

I think it's a bit mean of her friend to run to the media with that information. Maybe I'd just me, but it seems like just gossip. How does knowing she was involved in a church (or as they're saying, cult) in Nigeria help us find her and the baby?

liveforsummer · 22/01/2023 11:59

I suppose at the very least it shows she's likely to be/have been very vulnerable, making her at risk rather than an equal/willing participant. All very worrying and sad. Her fb shows just a snippet but a happy, vibrant young woman and as the time line suggests suddenly goes quiet around 2016
